BORN by Tapavino - Barangaroo

My friends and I were really disappointed with the service. After being seated and receiving our first drinks we requested the menu several times to order second round drinks. After finally receiving them and waiting patiently we were told we had 15 minutes before the next booking so would need to leave. We were not informed of this either at booking or at being seated and had yet to receive our drinks. We were essentially told we’d have to drink quickly and leave. It put a real damper on the entire evening. It was really badly handled.

I just love this place. Took some work colleagues and some had not been there before and who are now going to bring their partners and families. The food is gorgeous and the staff are always so helpful. Highly recommend it!

Our whole experience was amazing. At first we were apprehensive as our last Spanish recommendation wasn’t so great, but we were advised that we wouldn’t be disappointed with Born by Tapavino and that we weren’t!
Flavours were delicious, staff wonderful and overall experience well worth it - definitely would go back and recommend others to try!

Great spot for Sunday lunch. Staff are patient and also shared tips on quantities suitable for our group of 4. Sommelier is on hand to explain the slightly confusing wine list. We will be back again.

Third visit and always leave delighted. Beautiful food, great wines and lovely service. Good value too. I recommend the octopus. Also the burrata and jamon. If you can’t make it to Spain, Born is just as good

We love this place. It’s always a great time - great staff, awesome food and drinks. Feels just like the El Born district in Barcelona.

When the waiter delivers an open bottle of wine to the table, where it is not full, but I am paying for a full bottle, then says and quote “ it’s ok I tasted it for you behind the bar”
I believe there was a glass of wine already poured from the bottle
Wow, expensive to start with, let alone watering the staff from my pocket.
Minimum of $90 a head New Year’s Eve,there was 2 of us, ok fair enough, but when I looked at the bill to have had 4 dishes served up slowly at an total cost of $85, then told we had 20 minutes to leave the restaurant without the option of ordering further dishes because they came out so slowly.
One of those dishes was 2 small pieces of sourdough
I asked at the time will this be enough food for the 2 of us and was assured it was plenty, well it wasn’t
So disappointed.

The food was delicious here, as are the cocktails - a little goes a long way. Staff are friendly and helpful with suggestions.
The only negative would be that we were sat on the bench with a group of 4 people behind us who were loud and every time they moved in their seats it would shake the entire shared bench.
Will certainly return but be mindful of where we're seated next time.

2nd time going food was just as amazing as the first. only thing was they were missing 4 key items off the menu and we were there for a birthday so that was suuuper disappointing (those were the items we were there for). also the birthday girl asked for a certain dessert and the waiter told us he changed it to something else cause he thought it was better (we think they didnt have the one she asked for and he didnt want to tell us that there was ANOTHER thing we couldnt get). delicious food, good service but this was not the best experience unfortunately.

Great food and excellent service :) Would definitely recommend, especially for larger groups to be able to share several different dishes.

The food was absolutely phenomenal and worth every cent. The ambience and settings was very elegant and modern and the staff were incredibly polite. I will definitely be returning again

Came with my girlfriend for a Christmas dinner. Area and location lovely. Food was not the best. Very boring. Not that flavourful. Wouldn’t call it Spanish at all. Very “Aussie grandparents try Spanish cuisine”. Pretty understaffed too. Drink menu was confusing too. Did enjoy the roasted pumpkin though.

Food was ordered however we only received one dish and then 1hour later the second dish and 20 mins after another dish and the 4th dish was never served. There were no apologies jus the bill and see ya later

the biggest surprise dish was the Pumpkin side dish, it was a highlight in a lot of great dishes.

The location, ambience and food is great here. It's perfect for a group get together also and good value for money. The service really let's the venue down, it's almost like you're a hindrence to the waitstaff.
I would recommend BORN by Tapavino but would let people know not to expect good service. I have heard the same from others since speaking about my experience.

Second experience dining here, not as good as the first time. Less value for money, the portions were smaller and very expensive savory churros. Wine was very good (Spanish) and the sommelier was excellent. Service was good, but felt a bit rushed towards the end as they wanted the table for a later sitting. Would have had dessert there if we'd had the time. All up it was a good experience but I expected spectacular.

Usually I love this restaurant as the food is amazing! However the last time I went, we had really bad service. Wait dress kept trying to upsell and make us order more food. However, she missed half our order. When I asked if some of the dishes she missed were coming, she said “you didn’t order that so no” rather than apologising for not writing our order down. She also took many plates away with some food or sauces left that we were still picking at. She and wipes down our table leaving over the top of us and wiping the crumbs onto many of us sitting at the table. She never apologised or accommodated us.

The food was amazing. However, we were utterly disappointed with the service received that night.

I booked about a month in advance and was expecting an outside table but we were crammed into a corner inside and not given any apology just being told that’s your table everything is booked- the service from then on was not great - nothing personal or special just took our order and then rushed the food out - we were also asked to leave our table an hour earlier than originally told to vacate as per the the booking - all the food was lovely but the people, service and atmosphere were lacking

Fantastic creative menu with plenty of flavours & ingredients.

Food and service was fantastic as always. First time taking my family for my brother’s birthday and couldn’t have picked a better place! He is not one to compliment but couldn’t stop talking about the beef and cow’s milk cheese.

We went on a Monday night. Barangaroo was relatively quiet. Staff were attentive and pleasant. The food was quite good. The Sangria and Tap beer were good value. Personally, I would have liked a few more Tapas selections. Overall a very good dining experience.

Service was very friendly, knowledgable & accomodating. Superb wine list. Food was plentyful enough for our group. A must try are the anchovies, which are nothing like the Italian anchovies. The only criticisim is that jamon in the croquets could have had more jamon. Otherwise, wonderful. We'll definetly eat there again.

It was great food. The place was full and probably short staffed, but the waitress still took good care of us.

mist dishes are great but the Peepers and eggplant dishes were great and I normally eat meat.

The food was very tasty and the service was friendly. A great overall experience.

Great location for lunch by the harbour. We had an outside, undercover table that was just perfect. The food was delicious and we appreciated the chef's flexibility to make us a dish that wasn't on the main menu. Our sommelier - Ama, was incredibly knowledgeable and a great help in choosing the wines. Definitely coming back.
