Great spot for dinner. Excellent service and ambience.
Outstanding food, great service, servers always provide great suggestions, not too loud even for a Friday night, great for date night, special occasion or just to celebrate life.
Good selection of dishes, with a couple of non-meat options. Don't have to go for large quantities if you don't want to. We had perfectly cooked 8 oz Filet Mignons, prepared exactly as ordered with Bearnaise sauce and split a fairly large side order of mixed mushrooms. Together with 8 oysters on the half shell and a Seared Foie Gras - this was more than enough for us!
We were very happy with our high top end table. Despite being sold out on Open Table in the following time slots, there were still a lot of open tables. Had they been occupied, the high top tables are very close together so don't look for much privacy!
I chose to go to Boston Chops because I'd just received some of the very best news of my life. In fact, that day ended up being one of the very best days of my entire life. So I really wanted to celebrate by going out for an awesome dinner, and by no means was I disappointed with what I got from Boston Chops Downtown.
A friend and I made reservations for 7 and the hostess was so friendly when we arrived. I got a drink from the friendly bartender before dinner, and we were seated once we were ready to sit. Again, very friendly service.
It ended up being one of the very, very best meals I've had in a long time. I like steak, but I don't go out often for it because it's expensive. Well, I got my money's worth that night! The ribeye I got melted in my mouth, the bacon coated brussel sprouts were magical, and the fries were awesome. Dessert was awesome too. All the while the service was 100% impeccable. The waiter was awesome, and he made me feel right at home.
This was definitely a 10/10 experience, and the cap to a very important and amazing day for me. Thanks, Boston Chops for helping to make my day the best ever.
My husband and I celebrated our 1st anniversary here. The restaurant was very kind and gave us complementary bubbles to start the evening. They also personalized our desserts! They really made us feel special and made our night amazing.
Our server was very knowledgeable with the menu/recommendations and was very attentive to our needs. Great cocktail menu and the Waygu Bavette was melt in your mouth delicious.
Excellent steaks. Among the best you will find in the city. The environment fits a steakhouse ambience. Plenty of room to stretch out and enjoy your meal. The booths are very nice. Not for the value conscious.
Good steak place, some interesting apps, the oysters I had were outstanding as was the bone marrow. Service good. The wine list is interesting...lots of small wineries so you find find a ton of familiar names. Doesn't mean the prices were cheap for these small batch wines however.
I was disappointed with the hanger steak I ordered. It was tough. My husband was disappointed as well. My daughter liked her meal. I may recommend it.
Great vibe, great food, GREAT service, friendly and cool people, and a non-stuffy atmosphere. I've been to both of their locations and have always had a great meal and a great time. I am glad they are doing so well.
Little pricey charging 2.00 for olives was a first for me. Food was good service was great but there are too many places with good food and service. It may sound petty but I’ll stick with Grill 23, Cap grill and Abe’s where I don’t get charged for Olives in a martini.
Major holiday- focus was on quantity not quality
We were surprised with a pre fixe menu for Valentine’s Day when they called to confirm the table we had booked over a month out due to restaurant availability in Boston. At this point we had no choice but to still eat at Boston chop because most other steak houses in the city were full. We moved past that we couldn’t order off of the standard menu and went in for our dinner. We were seated 20 minutes late. It took 90 minutes to get our entrees, one of which was wrong. Our desserts were also incorrect. The parties that sat on either side of us were in and out without issue long before we had been served. The food was mediocre and not at all worth the $350 tab we paid. The server didn’t at all attempt to apologize for or make right any of the mistakes during our meal. Extremely disappointing.
I’m not sure if it was just an off night or it’s the location, but we will not be going back after our experience. Some of the bar staff were truly awful and you can get better service at any other fine steakhouse.
We had a reservation for 6:00 on Valentine's Day and understood that it was a $99 per person prix fixe menu. When we sat down just before 6:15, we told our server that we needed to leave by 7:45 to make it to a show at the Colonial. He said it would be no problem. We ordered dinner and our appetizer course came fairly soon thereafter. And then we waited. At 7:22, I asked about our entrees. Our server told us that the manager was looking into it. A minute or so later our entrees arrived. We both ordered filet mignon -- a steak house standard. One was supposed to be cooked medium and the other medium rare. The steak that was supposed to be medium was not even close -- it was clearly under cooked. Worse still, it was obvious that both plates had spent time under a heat lamp (we could tell because the sauce had a thin film on the top). I showed the manager my steak. He apologized and took it back. When he returned, I had a steak that was almost as under cooked. It was now after 7:30. We raced through our entrees and our dessert arrived at 7:42. We took a few bites, paid the bill and left. To his credit, the manager reduced the price on our meals and paid for a glass of wine for each of us. Nevertheless, this was disappointing all around. A steak house should be able to cook a steak to medium and a place like this should be able to manage a Valentine's Day crowd, especially with a limited menu. We will look for other restaurants the next time we are in the area or headed to the theater.
From the appetizers to the steaks, Boston Chops is one of the best places in Boston. My fiance and I have been here 5 times now and our service this time was by far the best. Our waiter, Alex, was outstanding. He was extremely attentive and made sure our experience was one we would not forget for a birthday dinner. He knew we were interested in a bottle of wine and immediately brought over a Sommelier to give us recommendations. I would highly recommend Boston Chops if you are looking for impeccable service and a delicious meal. Make sure you ask for Alex when you go!
My wife and I really enjoyed a pre-show dinner at Boston Chops. The server was very attentive and helpful. This is our second pre-show dinner here in the past couple months, and both times, we were asked if we needed to be somewhere at a certain time after dinner. The first time, we were in a bit of a rush and the food came out quickly and we were able to finish dinner in plenty of time to get to the show. Last night we were in no rush and the food came out at a more leisurely pace (as we wanted). That was a nice touch. The Chateaubriand was quite possibly the best steak we have had in years. My wife and I shared it, and the size is very generous. The food only got a 4 because the ahi appetizer tasted a bit off (maybe not a good cut or a bit old). When we mentioned it, they took it away and took it off the bill, so the response to our problem was exactly what we would have hoped for. I would definitely recommend Boston Chops as a great place to eat before a show.
The service has always been high quality as well as the food. Typical pricing for a steak place, which means it’s on the expensive side. Even so, you get plenty of good food. Its a great local place for fine dining.
Great dinner experience. Atmosphere was vibrant, food delicious, and service was great.
Food and service were excellent. I was surprised that we were sat downstairs and what felt like the hallway. It wasn't what I was looking for or expected. So it was a little disappointing.
We had a great repeated experience at this restaurant . Excellent food , ambiance and good service. We especially liked the sweetbreads , beef short ribs and Chilean sea bass
First they tried to sit us in the basement. You could hear fishes from the kitchen. We moved upstairs. Food was ok. Many better steaks in Boston. No flavor. Sauces over salted. Will not go again.
Nice setting but a bit loud.
However the food, quality and preparation are outstanding with excellent service.
Overall it was average. My friends and I usually eat at another steak place. We like to change it up once in a while. So far no one is better than our usually place.
It was great! Would highly recommend! Excellent date night
Food was amazing. Our waitress was unbelievable. We were going to a show at the Opera House and she made sure to give us a time updates and made sure we ordered on time!
Great salads for lunch, excellent service, and pleasurable ambiance - totally recommend.
Good place to eat. Steaks were nice and well pre-pared. Pretty noisy.
The French Onion soup appears greasy. The steak took about 40 minutes. Not too bad.
This was an absolutely incredible experience. Our waiter was knowledgeable about menu items and ingredients and gave us a special experience for my boyfriend’s birthday. Food was top quality & flavor. I have no complaints!
Decent ambience and atmosphere, drinks weren't too bad, but the food, cmon! 14oz Rib Eye, not only a poor cut, but I've made much better in the broiler. It was served with an overwhelming amount of fat and a lack of flavor. Side dishes were subpar all around. If you want a good steak, Del Friscos, Abe & Louis, Grill 23, don't waste your money at this place!
Amazing food and Vinnie our Waiter was highly attentive and informative. Highly recommend 😀
Went out for a date and had the onion ring tower and filets with the bone in. The steaks were cooked okay - we asked for rare and it was only red at the edge by the bone. The Boston Chops in the South end was better at preparing the steak.
Birthday dinner was perfect!
Convenient location and attentive, pleasant staff. The hostess went out of her way to give us a good table. Also they were very conscientious about confirming the booking. Only disappointment in otherwise very good food and nice menu was my entree. Ordered the short rib. Very tasty, nice sides, etc. but the menu said a 14 oz bone in. Hard to find short ribs these days and the description conjured up short rib steak attached to a rib. It was more like a spare rib or sushi. Maybe 4 oz, max. Rather disappointing if you are a short rib fancier.
