Boundary Bay Brewery & Bistro

For a pandemic, you think the service would be a ton better. There were maybe 8 tables in the area we were seated. It took a while for the server to come to us. We ordered beers and that took over 20 min to get a beer to the table. Food order was maybe 5-8 minutes after the beer arrived. Tried to order another beer, Got served food, hadn't seen the server. Finally half way thru the dinner (about an hour at the table) someone else asked if we needed something and ran and got the beer that I said we ordered quite sometime ago. From a service orientated perspective, the customer should be valued, especially bringing service to the restaurant, during this time when other dining business are failing. I felt like I wasted a 45 min drive up there and then an 1 hour and 45 minutes for a so-so meal and 2 drinks. Wouldn't recommended going up there or out of the way for this kinda service ever again.

The socially distanced dining under the tent was fantastic. Clean, multiple heaters though out though many folks of course keeping their outerwear being January. Women's restroom also very clean. Food was fantastic. Superbly hot and fresh tasting. I ordered the nachos and the chips were hot, crispy, cheese melty and not oily, mashed cumin black beans with fresh jalapenos, black olives, tomatoes, onions served with fresh in house salsa. Talk about ownership of the food with everything being made in house. My main dish was harvest salad and clam chowder (soup salad combo). Again, the salad greens were light, crisp, and tender with well sized cut apples and whole walnuts and blueberry crumbled galore. And here's the kicker, I adore clam chowder but many places put too much roux making it seem more pudding in texture. This was a wonderful balance of having body to the broth without being overly thick or thin texture where it gets mistaken for soup instead of chowder. Plenty of clam pieces for those who love seafood. My only frustration was not being able to enjoy a pint due to me driving 70+ miles back home. The staff was slightly overwhelmed and flustered with how busy the restaurant was. A superb table staff will anticipate your needs and not force the customer to ask for 'this and that'. I'm so glad we decided to book a table and meet up at our old stomping grounds back when we were at the university. Thank you Boundary Bay for being so reliable, fantastic and nostalgia.

Excellent service and atmosphere!!!

During the pandemic, and winter, we needed a place with heated outdoor dining.
Boundary Bay gave us a table in a fenced sidewalk area, with a small fireplace next to us and blankets for our legs. Very nice! Still, with the wind it was a little bit cold. The only way they could have made it better would be a wind break of some kind.

The food, drink, and service were excellent, as usual!

I went to Boundary Bay two nights in a row the food was excellent the service not good at all I saw many people that work there wandering around drinks got empty or salad was forgotten and nobody checked out to make sure we were doing okay very unimpressed for the first time that I've ever been there two nights in a row I thought one night okay but then two nights in a row need to work on that

A lady with short brown curly hair seated us after apologizing for dropping multiple F bombs when she thought no one was in the check in area. When we sat down I noticed there was maybe three other tables seated in the restaurant so they were very slow. We ordered our food & drinks right away and they arrived at our table very quickly and the food was amazing! When we wanted to order a yummy shot she didn’t even ask the bartender she just told us that their bar doesn’t do that. Then after not being checked on for more than 15 min we wanted to order more food & drinks but she told us that they were “technically closed at 8” even though our reservation was made for 8 and we first gave our order after 8. She apologized probably a thousand times for not giving us a last call and gave us our checks. She didn’t offer to discount our bill or make the situation better. It felt like they closed before they were supposed to and were rushing us out of the restaurant. Very disappointing experience.

Delicious food and good beer selection. The music was a bit loud for a restaurant, it made it difficult to hear our server and even my friend across the table from me. However, the service was friendly and fairly prompt. Overall, a pleasant dining experience.

The food here is always amazing. I had one of the best french dips I've ever had. The beer beef stew is awesome. Spend the extra cash and instead of fast food support this wonderful business.

We enjoyed the atmosphere, service and food! The pear and brie grilled cheese was delicious, the yam enchiladas were very good and everyone loved their meal.

Great set-up outside with heaters, very COVID-safe. Would absolutely recommend.

Large outdoor dining area gave us the opportunity to dine out local and use a gift card we received for Christmas. Plenty of patio heaters to keep warm during these cold, winter months.

Fantastic service and food as always. The autumn cider cocktail I had was fantastic. Steak was perfectly cooked. Lovely setup outside with heaters and tents.

Had to sit in a little but if rain thanks to Covid restrictions but the food was excellent and beers the same. Would come back for sure

Great experience, my only indoor dining excursion during the pandemic. Felt very comfortable with the precautions being taken.

My coffee was cold and not fresh and the meal took a long time. My food was great quality and i asked for a hot fresh cup of coffee which she brought to me however it was extremely strong for both myself and my mom who are avid coffee drinkers so I felt the waitress did not know how to make coffee. Everything else went well. We made sure to make a reservation as well.

Made reservations on line, showed up and got seated promptly. Food was excellent as was the service. Staff was courteous and polite. Bathrooms were clean. Overall a great dining experience.

Boundary Bay Brewery is a wonderful place to meet with friends, have a great beer and the food is fabulous! There is plenty of parking around the brewery and it is an easy walk. The food comes out hot and has never disappointed!

Outdoor dining is well set up, even for cooler months.

Boundary is one of my favorite spots. Went there for my birthday. Had the smoked salmon chowder. Yum!!

Boundary Bay Brewery has been a long time favorite. Delicious food, tasty beer, good service and a casual atmosphere. We chose to sit outside in the beer garden (due to COVID) and despite the propane heaters it was chilly. There was a wind advisory at the time so it would probably be warmer on a normal day. Overall highly recommend!

The service was great. The wait wasn't long to order or receive our meal. The food was
excellent. The server frequently came by to ask how everything was. I will come back again.

Beer and margaritas were excellent. Sandwiches were so-so. I had a BLT with all of the tomatoes on one side for some reason, and the bacon was way overcooked. Roasted potatoes were really good! We also had a Cuban, which was just okay. I thought the food was a bit pricey for the quality, or maybe the kitchen was just off their game on that evening. Staff seemed a little confused about which tables to use. We ended up eating outside, and that was nice. I would definitely go back and try other items on the menu.

Delicious comfort food with tasty beer and cocktails! Same old Boundary quality.

Friendly staff, good beer...smallish menu but they do it well. Recommend the gumbo, salmon chowder, and fish tacos.

My guest’s food was very good and she liked both of her drinks. My dinner was disappointing. The first plate of my enchiladas was obviously burnt. The 2nd enchiladas were prepared as they should be. I admit they weren’t to my taste, but that’s not your fault. My first drink was disappointing, but I loved my second, a pear margarita. I do not think that food and drinks, plus tip, was worth $100.

This is not your average pub fare. The salmon and meatloaf are terrific and the beer is unmatched. Support this amazing local eatery and brewery because they are awesome!

We were very pleased with the entire experience. I was able to reserve a table outside. The staff had strict covid rules which they followed and I appreciate that we were working to keep the servers healthy.

The food was excellent, beer tasty and we were glad that our dogs could join us on the patio. Great time!

We made reservations for a table outside in the beer garden. Tables are spread far apart. Boundary Bay doing an excellent job following Covid Guidelines. Our server was attentive and food great.

We had the specials for the day. My grilled Brie and pear sandwich was delicious. Also got the baked chicken which went fast!

Love Boundary Bay Brewery for dependably good food, but they've begun serving meals in low-grade metal baking pans, lined with a sheet of paper, burger-basket style. This does not work for salads, the paper becomes soggy and falls apart into the salad. I bake a lot at home and sorry, but baking pans are baking pans, not plates. Plus, low grade metal and aluminum are toxic. My cup of chowder came in a standard restaurant quality Buffalo china, so I figure they still have some real dishes. When I go next time, I am going to request my meal be served on real dishes, not bakeware.
