Broken English Taco Pub-Lincoln Park

The restaurant was closed but I was still able to make a reservation. Needs to be taken off site so people don’t make a reservation

We showed up for our reservation and the restaurant was completely closed. Not sure if this was a mistake on the restaurant’s end or OpenTable’s. However, it was very frustrating to show up for dinner and have to scramble around to find something.

This was our first time at the Lincoln Park location. The service was awesome! The food DELICIOUS! I highly recommend the guacamole and the 12 taco platter. The ambiance is very chill. I bet it’s a fun place when it’s not Covid season and it’s full of people! We will def be back!

The steak tacos and palomita were the highlight... the wobbly table and uninspired shrimp tacos and having chicken vs pork al pastor as the negatives

Delicious food, cool vibes, and great service! But music was too loud to talk.

Guacamole, salsa and chips are delish. We got a Taco Plate so we could sample some of the different tacos and we were not disappointed. The Horchatas are also refreshing!

Note there is hardly anything else but tacos on the menu. Good food, drinks and setting !

Overall, it was an okay evening. The pork and steak tacos were delicious; however, the fish and shrimp tacos left something to be desired. The guacamole portion was pretty small. We understand there are new rules about table time limits. We weren't watching our clocks, but we ordered another round of drinks. The server told us that we had hit our time limit and this would be our last round. So we thanked him and agreed for this to be our last drinks. However, within 2 minutes of giving us our drinks, he came over to tell us we had to leave. So we said we understood, but we just got our drinks and we will do our best to drink them quickly. Then within another few minutes, the manager came over and told us to leave, as well. We were more than happy to accommodate the table time limit; however, we felt the server was dishonest by telling us we could have another round of drinks and then pretty much kicking us out. We felt badgered to leave and left our drinks. Overall, there are better places to eat tacos in the city.

Their menu change a bit due to COVID. The restaurant did a great job maintaining social distancing and cleanliness.

I didn’t think I would like it. I absolutely love this place. The drinks are strong, the service is great and the food is excellent. I cannot wait to go back!!

I had a great time here. The servers were patient with my friend and I, and we received our food quickly. Great food and experience, can’t wait to come back soon!

Food was great and service really good.

First time here. Came to celebrate a friends birthday. Such a cool place, had lots of seating and great decor! We ordered a platter of 6 tacos and waited almost 30-45mins for it. Didn’t think we’d have to wait so long for 6 tacos. Turned out the order didn’t make it to the kitchen. Once we said something our tacos came out within minutes. Food was great, devoured them quick since we were starving. Other than that, it’s a great place.

I am very big on mexican food and this place does not dissapoint. By far the best mexican food I have had here in chicago. The ambiance is beautiful with all of the decor however the music is really high and I found myself shouting at my friend during our time here because the music was so loud. Other than that the drinks and the food were absolutely amazing - would 100% recommend

Server raul was really cool. Easy to talk to. Great energy didn’t rush us and checked up on us multiple times.

Flavored margaritas tasted like straight up tequila and water, carnitas were extra large cubes on the tortilla but the elote and nachos were so good!

Churros were awesome - I recommend! Tacos were decent. Located right next to the El so be prepared for some train noise.

I had a reservation for Broken English at 7:30 and last call for food AND DRINKS was 7:40. I don’t know if open table is the one with the mistake but they should had just called me to cancel my reservation. We only had one minute to order food and drinks. It was very annoying because we were excited to try this place for the first time. Got to try the elote which was ok not that great. Most likely I won’t be back.

The service was absolutely horrible.

Food was good but not great. They charge for chips and salsa, which is ridiculous. As for the service, the server lived up to the “broken English “ moniker and wasn’t very attentive.

NOT RETURNING. Broken English taco pub was a place where we were treated with sweetness but left with a bitter taste in our mouth. This experience changed not only my view but also my guest. We were greeted nicely and showed our table when we first entered, once we sat down we were told we had a two hour limit at the restaurant which we agreed and were pleased to know. A minor issue was that half of our order was forgotten but we understood this due to the place having many customer. This...this is where is went downhill...Two MAJOR issues presented itself, one was not enough water at our tables and the tacos were spicy. I enjoy spicy and it was great but we only had one cup per person during our entire stay which were empty very quickly after arriving. The second MAJOR issue was that once we were done with our meal possible 40 minutes into our stay we were told we had to leave because they had other people waiting. So from having two hours reserved table to having it being cut early was unacceptable. We kindly left but this left an impression on us that we will not be returning and will advise others to pick other locations instead.

Service and margaritas were good but the food is not great. For $9 you get chips with a small dish of guacamole, we actually had leftover chips, that never happens

Overall a very cute atmosphere but also very mediocre margaritas and food.
