Brother Hubbard - North
Very tasty, a nice staff, lovely place. I recommend!
delicious food great service and a cafe with ambience what more could you want, would highly recommend it!
Form the start of our evening the staff were outstanding. We was greeted warmly and when seated was talked through the menu. The food is exceptional, so well presented, tasty, and served promptly, we enjoyed the sharing menu. The room is very comfortable and a nice environment to enjoy our meal in. I would also say that it was great value for money. Overall a wonderful evening without any negativity. We definitely will be going back soon.
Food was Absolutely amazing! The place is beautiful and cocktails were lovely! Great vegan options too
Evening menu is excellent and staff are lovely. Great for groups of friends - lots of sharing options. Atmosphere is casual, not formal or romantic. Loved the labneh and the mains were delicious too.
Food was fresh and very tasty, menu innovative. Service was timely.
Great food and service, lovely group lunch- would highly recommend it
Food was really good and so was the service - but after about 30 mins of being there it got quite cold and drafty. We moved seats as we thought draft came from door but it didn't help. Also, we felt that 12.95 for pancake dessert was quite expensive.
Delicious food, lovely staff and a great atmosphere!
Thank you for the great experience!
Lovely ambience and great food. We came for brunch. The coffee was flavourful. I had the vegan mezze (with fried halloumi), my sister had the full hubbard breakfast, and my wife had the eggs baba bida. All the dishes were delicious and beautifully presented. Would definitely eat here again!
Tasty food and great presentation.
We loved this place. A place where I have already been and I loved its food. The service by every waiter/waitress was really attentive and kind. I got the cod and I particularly enjoyed the delicate mixing of tastes.
We opted for the vegan sharing menu. The food tasted fine, but portions are on the smaller size, particularly the sharing starter. The options for the main course (larger plates) is very limited.
Annoyingly, the water glasses and a fork we were given we not very clean. The folk are a small piece of lettuce or leaf dried onto it.
The entrance to the restaurant is a bit makeshift after you walk past the items for sale (which we really liked).
The restaurant was busy, but not overly so. The space could do with background music as it was possible to hear multiple conversations going on, which was annoying.
Thanks for visiting. We are surprised if you felt our portions were small - sincerely, we get a lot of people telling us how much they enjoy the variety of the food and the portioning of same. We've 5 mains but for the special vegan sharing menu, we'd a choice of 2 (this wouldn't be unusual for a sharing menu, nor would it be unusual for vegan choices from a restaurant that caters for all types of customers). Apologies about the fork/glasses -had you let us know, we'd have fixed it immediately!
Mediocre food - no spices or good mixes as you’d expect from Middle East
Hi and sorry if you didn't love our food or our wine. We know we cannot please everyone - try as we might - and apologies if this was the case for you. We use a lot of fragrant (but not hot) spices in our food which is based on, and inspired by, very traditional Middle Eastern recipes and ingredients. We have lots of very regular customers from the Middle East who really enjoy our food for this reason! Again, sorry if it wasn't for you and thanks for stopping by nonetheless.
Food was lovely, I’d recommend the meaty mezze!
Busy at lunchtime
Healthy, exotic, tailored service, full of surprises.
Food was excellent but we had to wait nearly an hour for it and had to ask several times.
The food was really good. But the prices were definitely not worth the service levels. Our waiter was lost, and definitely messed up our desert menu choices.
Lovely service, great food, even with a big party behind us it wasn’t too loud. Lovely setting and great location, very nice service.
A really interesting and refreshing take on Middle Eastern food. Good quality food and generous portions.
Thankfully a limited menu. All choices excellent. Best Octopus not on the Mediterranean. Lamb Shanks outstanding. Unfortunately our server did not listen and brought us our large plates too soon.
Outstanding food. Excellent service. Will be back.
Thank you so much ! This is so lovely to hear!
Another restaurant cancelled us last minute so I booked Brother Hubbard the week of my girls Christmas dinner. Everyone agreed it was the best thing that happened as the restaurant was amazing, our table was great and the food was so good! Everyone had a fantastic time and the services was great. From ringing the day before, to the confirmation emails to the service on the evening, we were so happy as a group to be having our get together here! Thanks again :)
This has simply made our day to hear! Thank you so much and we are so delighted to have welcomed you!
Food was fairly cold. Had the dumplings, expected more for the price.
Very sorry if you felt the dish wasn't hot enough - we do intend to serve this dish "warm" rather than roasting hot, given the nature of the dish itself. Had you let us know at the time we would have done our absolute best to fix the issue - we do rely on our customers communicating with us if anything is amiss at the time. We do pride ourselves on providing good value and we do know that our main course items are priced extremely competitively compared to other city centre restaurant offerings.
Felt a bit rushed food came out well before first course finished staff very friendly
Hi and thanks for visiting. We are delighted that you found our team friendly. Please note that we don't actually serve the traditional approach of starters-followed-by-mains. As our food is Middle Eastern style Mezze items are sent out as they are made ready - we do state this on the menu and this is an intentional aspect of how we serve our guests - in the authentic "Feast" style of that type of cuisine. Thanks again for visiting!
Sharing menu was fabulous, staff were friendly, limited but good choice of mains. Will be back.
Thank you, thank you!
It took over an hour after ordering to get any food. The server forgot our starters so the starters were delivered after our mains. The staff did apologise and didn’t charge us for the starters. However, this is not the first time where I’ve waited over an hour for food to be served only to be told that our order hasn’t been processed. The food is excellent. It’s such a pity the service falls so far short.
Hi and we are sorry that you were disappointed. It was a genuine error and, forgive us, but our server had genuinely understood from you that you were only having main courses. We are sorry that this impacted on your enjoyment of your evening it us. As you will see from so many other reviewers, this would not be a typical experience - again, it does not excuse what happened and we hope you understand.
Excellent food and lovely staff! Highly recommended!
Excellent service and incredible food. Loads of choice for vegetarians and vegans. Highly recommend getting the Middle East Feast sharing menu for dinner which allows you to try a great scope of the menu!
My aubergine starter was lovely , my fish main dish was a little on bland side , I would prefer more veg to be served and the rice portion with it was v bland , I really don’t like the practice of having to order sides w your main , I think the chef should compliment the main w their take on auditable veg, portion size wa on small side , our second round of drinks came when we were nearly finished our main and it was a long time before we saw any staff to get bill so our boss went in pursuit of the bill
Food was okay - service avg. A little overpriced for what is offered in my opinion
Fabulous vegetarian food that even non vegetarians will love
Everything was very good and I really appreciated the care they put into checking and serving coeliac-friendly food and making sure the coeliac guest had the same experience as everyone else.
Food was good but service was slow. The server was friendly though. Not sure if they were just busy but took over 10 minutes to just get our drinks.
Great tasting food in lovely decor. It is a large venue so can get loud.
We felt rather ignored by our server. I am an American, but hav traveled to Dublin several times. I understand that our American service attention standards are different, but this was bordering on rude, and it seemed to me that several other tables were getting more attention. Our waiter every stuttered every approach to the table with, "I'm so sorry...." It seemed like it might be a style thing for him, but combined with the lack of attention and jerky flow to the food serves and experience it only pointed out the issue more. Probably only fair to say also as context, we had eaten at Chapter One two days before - and that was a dining experience. Hope this is helpful.
We have been coming to Brother Hubbard since it first opened and are loyal customers. However, lately there just doesn't seem to be the same level of love in the food...we feel that the attention to detail has fallen off in terms of quality, taste, presentation etc. A couple of small niggles too that slightly undermined our enjoyment...our table was so dark that we had to use our phone flashlights to read the menu and couldn't see the food properly when it arrived. All of our food arrived at the same time which meant that our table was so overcrowded with plates etc that the eating experience was chaotic rather than relaxing. Maybe we could have been given the choice to have it slightly staggered? Despite all this we will continue to eat here and to recommend to friends...but fingers crossed things will improve!
This was my second visit to Brother Hubbard North within two weeks. On the first occasion I shared the Haloumi starter, Lebneh and two small plates (aubergine and cauliflower) with my daughter. We also shared a very rich but good chocolate dessert. I thought the flavours of the savoury food were outstanding on the first occasion. The second time, I ate only the 'mezze' part of the two-course option (it was sufficient for me). It was good, but not as good as the food I ate on the first occasion. In particular, I wasn't convinced by the trail-mix component of it. I think olives or similar would have been better.
But I would definitely go again. The sparkling water is particularly good value, the house wine is reasonable by Dublin standards, the complimentary tea at the end was a nice touch. I had an alcohol-free beer the second time, and glad to see it on the menu. The ambiance is very pleasant.
