Burrawang General Store
The best steak sandwich ever! So tender it melted in my mouth and the sweet potato chips were delicious. Great service too!
Loved that I could book a table online. Each of us had something different and we were all happy with our choices. Great vegetarian options too. Can't wait to visit again.
A wonderful cafe with great service, food and style. We were seated in the loft area and loved it. We will definitely be back very soon. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality.
This is a lovely venue. The food is good but reasonably expensive for what it is. It is let down by the apparently poorly trained staff. A smile to two wouldn’t go astray!
Gorgeous old general store with lovely original facade and interior. Thoroughly enjoyed our morning tea and highly recommend it.
Food was great. Good range that satisfied vegetarians in group as well as carnivores. Very friendly, helpful staff.
We go there almost daily because it is such a great cafe in all respects. Erica is a brilliant host, her staff are very friendly and competent, the building is historic and charming, the food is first class and the coffee is a must every morning. Highly recommended.

Initially my experience with the store was fantastic, amazing Chai Latte. The staff were super friendly! It all took a turn downhill when my friend received her order. Massive chunk of mould under one of the flowers on her eggs benedict. Like huge. A heaped teaspoon of mould. She took it back and was offered a free coffee, which she declined. The staff brought out her fresh eggs and said it was free. All good. Except that it made me question the quality of my own food. I spent my meal scouring my breakfast rice for mould... Which isn't fantastic. Add on top of that that the $6 cake muffin my friend got had a big chunk of flour in the middle and looked as dry as the saharah desert and we have ourselves a pretty average experience. My food was fine, but what happened to her really put me off. I doubt I will be going back any time soon.
Please offer more than Trenkel Hoken sparkling wine -it’s a dreadful drop
Hi JennineF, We do have both MUMM Cordon Rouge Champagne and the local Tertini Blanc de Blanc which is quite lovely. We are disappointed you didn't notice them on the menu. Try them next time and we are sure you won't be sorry you did. So happy you enjoyed the the food and everything else our venue offers.
I had heard good reports but the food was beautifully presented and wonderfully tasty and the ambience just right for a country stop. If I had to be picky it was a little noisy but the place was very busy so I guess that's a good problem to have. I have already recommended this business to other people.
Burrawang General Store is one of our favourite spots to have coffee and a sweet or lunch or breakfast. Food is always fresh and tasty, ambience is wonderful old charm and customer service is fantastic. We highly recommend BGS
Lovely staff and beautiful food. Would definitely recommend
Brunch was great food, although it would have been practical to have had a menu or half serves specifically for children.
Hi Helen, It seems that you weren't offered our children's menu which is a complete offering for the little ones. We apologise for that oversight. We also offer a free ice cream sundae with children's meals. I have followed this up with staff and will make sure that this doesn't happen again. We are please you enjoyed your meals. We hope we see you again, soon, Erica
Took a friend there for Birthday lunch. Have never been there before. I was pleasantly impressed. Food was tasty and the place has a warming atmosphere. Will definitely be back.
Only disappointment was with regard to food. We were there for a birthday morning tea. I forgot to mention when making the booking that it was a birthday celebration, and that 2 of the 4 are gluten free, including the birthday girl. There was only 1 cake GL or toast. The 2 GL free women shared the one cake! So the mistake was partly mine, and partly yours for not having more than GL cake available
Beautiful place to eat lunch. Thanks for having us.
I took my wife for her Birthday lunch to the Burrawang Café the 2nd such visit in 3 days having had a family lunch for her birthday on Saturday. The customer service is excellent and food fresh and very tasty. We will return soon and pass onto friends our recommendation. Jeffrey Slatter
We often go there. We had guests at the weekend, and this our favourite place to take them, Summer or Winter. They have a lovely heater in the Winter. The food is always delicious and served very promptly.
Absolutely brilliant!!! Really enjoyed dinner, as did my partner. Thanks!
Amazing food (the honey cheesecake was divine!) and great service - highly recommend.
Food was delicious and plentiful. We’ve recommended it to others as a must stop if you’re in the southern Highlands
Great service and fantastic food. Great half way meeting place between Canberra and Sydney
This is a wonderful cafe / restaurant with good options for vegetarians and super-helpful staff. Our lunch here was a highlight of our highlands break.
Couldn't recommend this cafe highly enough. Lovely staff, great food and super location.
Second time to this lovely venue and the current owners having it running like clockwork, and with the added touch of excellent service.
As a family group enjoying a pre-Christmas gathering we really appreciate the attentive service and the great food.
Thank you so much to the whole team who delivered efficient and friendly service with a personal touch.
Took my friend there while we were on a day visit to "The Highlands".
I had been there before with my sister who lives locally & thoroughly enjoyed it.
This visit was just as memorable.
We tried the "Tipple of the Day". So tasty I had to have another one.
Our main was the salmon-just delicious.
The old signs & other decorations give the "General Store" a great ambience.
All in all a great visit.
I had the stuffed ricotta French toast. It was delicious but 3 pieces was too much for all the people at our table who ordered it. Maybe 2 pieces and drop the price?
Very enjoyable lunch to celebrate a Birthday. Great atmosphere, service and meal. Loved Burrawang what a lovely quiet little town.
Burrawang General Store never disappoints - it is a gem!
Lovely atmosphere and food. Beautiful in winter especially due to the big open fire.
We enjoyed a very nice lunch, food was lovely and well presented and service was professional and attentive without being intrusive. This was our second visit and we were not disappointed, thank you!
We live in Sydney's south west suburbs and have been looking for somewhere we had not been to for a relaxing breakfast/brunch. We came across the Burrawang General Store after a little internet searching. We were not disappointed. The service was very friendly. The layout of the restaurant was spacious and they have numerous 'old' items on show. The food was well cooked and presented. The coffee was great!! We will visit again.
Great Bike ride to the venue. Best sticky date pudding I’ve had in ages.
Love the atmosphere at The General Store. We had a lovely lunch and the dessert was amazing. Would highly recommend a visit to this place.
This was our first visit to the Burrawang General Store and it won't be our last. We were most impressed & we are relatively local (Gerringong). The breakfast hamburger was outstanding! I'd have it again!
This was our first visit to the cafe and we were greeted with both a warm, cosy environment and friendly service. The menu selection had something for everyone. Loved that it served an all day breakfast but had a good choice of lunch specials also. The wine list included a selection of local wines that we appreciated. Our meals were served in good time and were delicious and we agreed it was good value. We will be back again.
Friendly and rustic this is one of my favourite places to dine in the Southern Highlands. The menu takes classics and gives them a seasonal twist, stunningly presented. A must visit for all appetites
Always love the drive to Burrawang. So pretty. The old store has just the right amount of character, and the food and coffee and the yummy cakes are worth the drive from Bundanoon.
What a hidden gem! Well worth the scenic drive to Burrawang. Lovely to have an alfresco experience weather permitting. Enjoy the warmth of the pot belly stove if dining inside. The store is like walking back in time. Great food and service. Open 8am-4pm every day. We'll be back.
The 2 male waiters did not smile. One shorter guy did not say please or thank you to anyone
