Love their food and the view
Thus place is a treasure!
Service and food was amazing
Great place for brunch, beautiful views, reasonably priced, good food. Loved the Grapefruit Mimosa!!
I love Cafe 44. Great food, wonderful service, so worth the wait and experience. The ONLY thing I would request is just a little more attention from wait staff. Again, I know it's busy but on a hot morning, we had to wait quite a while to get our water refreshed. Not a huge deal and won't impact my coming back at all.
Decent view on the potomac, very nice area around to walk.
Food is average, did not like the avocado toast at all.
They got the check wrong 3 times, seems like a new staff
Cafe 44 has become my “go to” favorite in OT. I have introduced several friends to it and they have uniformly been impressed.
Cafe 44 is our favorite restaurant in all of metro DC. We eat here several times a week and can’t say enough great things about the food, the team, and, of course, the amazing view!!
The lobster salad was delicious!
We sat out on the patio and it was so delightful. Melvin was a superb waiter and the hostess was great too. I have 2 more reservations in October with two different group of friends. I just love Cafe44.
While staff was courteous, service was extremely slow. When our food arrived, both my eggs and my waffle were essentially barely lukewarm. Was not very pleased with that, as it seemed quite possible that the slow service contributed to it. Not likely to return for a meal any time soon.
Went for weekend brunch. Food was good, just nothing special. Service was poor. View is excellent!
Loved the food, the view, and the service. I came in a wheelchair and they were very accommodating. Definitely will return
The view was wonderful!!! The service was terrible!! We waited 30min after we were seated before being able to order drinks, and the restaurant was not full. Then 30min more before the food came and when we order bottle service it arrived with desert and with no glasses. I had to get up myself and go to the bar to get glasses after waiting 15min. Overall the view and food were not worth the poor service! I hope it improves! There is so much potential!
Cafe 44 has two things going for it in my opinion. A great view and good customer service. Our waiter Quinton was extremely friendly and accommodating but the food was really lackluster. We had brunch during Restaurant Week and the waffles were semi-burnt and the “toppings” (just butter and syrup were provided) were unimpressive. The food was disappointing but the ambiance definitely made up for it.
Beautiful setting for a lovely brunch last Saturday. Everything was delicious. Only one warning: butter and cream are liberally used, so save up your calorie allowance!
It’s becoming one of my favorite places in OT.
This was the second negative visit that followed a year of great visits. Maybe the ownership has changed. The current owner has a defensive excuse for everything from “ it is hard when the kitchen gets a lot of orders” to “that’s the traditional way to make a lobster roll”. In the first instance the appetizer failed to appear before the entree and in the second instance claiming that a lobster roll that was drenched only in mayo on a non toasted, non buttered roll was the real thing.
This restaurant advertised and sent out soliciting emails for Restaurant Week. The reservation was a 12:30 lunch reservation. The restaurant was 1/3 empty... yet the kitchen could not timely prepare an appetizer?
Food was excellent. I ordered the crab cakes (they are actually crab balls), sweet and spicy pulled pork and the brown butter chocolate chip cookie. The crab ball were very good but could have used more remoulade. The pulled pork was very tender and flavorful. My daughter ordered the bbq pulled chicken it was great the sauce was very tasty. My dad ordered the carrot ginger soup a very nice combination, it had a little bite to it. Overall great experience love the atmosphere and the view of the Potomac and the Woodrow Wilson bridge.
I love this place. Whether sitting inside or out, the view is spectacular, the service impeccable, and the menu spectacular! Simple yet inclusive of anything you want drink wise or food wise. This place is a gem and I’m so lucky to work only a few blocks away. It’s my go-to for business lunches, happy hour and special occasions. It’s off the beaten path in the best way.
My sisters and I enjoyed this beautiful restaurant, the food and our server Melvin was delightful. We would definitely visit again.
This is a nice place for restaurant week because it was only $15. The chef put too much butter in pretty much everything. The restaurant week options were kind of limited, but still worth the price. The Third course was a cookie, which is fine, but only one of the three cookie options were actually available. The staff, while obviously not well versed in the menu, was very polite and helpful. If you work near the restaurant, it's a good place to stop by for a quick lunch date or group lunch outing. Also, the view of the surrounding area is beautiful, so outside seating will likely enhance your dining experience.
Great place for lunch, and a fantastic view of the Potomac River
My wife and I had a wonderfully enjoyable time, great service with food that tantalizes the pallet.
The food was outstanding and even though I had to get a server after waiting for 20 minutes, once we did, the service was outstanding. The server made sure to expedite our order since we had waited. The owner gave us a coupon off for the inconvenience, which my guest and I appreciated and I see as a sign of good management. The view, food and ambiance were wonderful; we were there for a business lunch. I will definitely be back again to try the brunch and to have lunch there again.
Went for Sunday brunch and sat outside. Enjoyed the amazing Potomac views. Had the bottle service, which imo was worth it. Got a nice brunch buzz on. Food was amazing. Highly recommend the shrimp and grits.
Love Cafe44. The owner came over to our table and welcomed us and was so warm! The restaurant is beautiful and the staff very attentive ❣️ Now a fav and especially for Sunday Brunch. Have the Cafe 44 and the grits! Delicious food, great service and so appreciate a great restaurant in North Old Town that’s 5 star! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Excellent service, great view and very clean. Food is excellent
There's a great view of the Potomac River from the terrace of Cafe 44 and that's one reason our family group decided to give Sunday brunch there a try. We enjoyed catching up after various travels and activities, so weren't in a rush, but we sat for 90 minutes before getting our food. Much too long. The server may have had too many tables or the kitchen might have gotten behind, but still too long waiting. The food was OK. The service was OK. But really just OK, especially for the price. Cafe 44 is nearby, so we might go back sometime. But we won't rush.
Awesome view and great food. The menu was creative yet simple.
Our favorite Old Town spot. Creative drinks, delicious food, and a perfect river view.
Our server was awesome as the last time we went to Cafe 44. The food was great, the view exceptional. Love this place
The river view is incredible—best in the DMV. This spot is a gem! Tucked in a quiet corner of Old Town. The menu is mostly delicious small plates and craft cocktails. Fresh modern decor. There’s nothing like it Alexandria.
Open for breakfast lunch and early (kitchen closes at 8) dinner.
Every table has a great water view.
Great venue. Beautiful views. Good food. Good value. Special place.
Parking in the building was $8.00 and the food was very disappointing. It's a nice venue with a great view, but I will not be going back.
Arrived right when they opened (0900) on Saturday morning. Very few other customers. Hostess gave us our choice of seating. The service was excellent, the food was good, and the prices were fairly reasonable (surprising for Alexandria). Would recommend for breakfast and will likely come again in the near future.
My first time to Cafe 44 and enjoyed it. Started with Lobster Bisque which was very tasty but could have been a bit warmer in temperature. The next was a deliciously cold Stella which I enjoyed 2 of. The Avocado BLT was good but the avocado wasn’t as ripe as it should have been. The view was fantastic and would give the ambiance a 5 out of 5. Interestingly the chairs leaned back a bit so it was meant to be a very casual laid back lunch. I would give it a 4 out of 5 with a Chance again to check things out. Very friendly place. Try it for sure.
Have been here twice - brunch and dinner. Cocktails and view are amazing. Food is not great.
The food was good, the server was nice, but very slow with service and menu options are few.
This is a gem really. By far, Cafe 44 has the best view of the river in Old Town. Granted, when seated outside and the airport is busy, the plane noise can be significant. However, a beautiful day and a wonderful view can overcome the intermittent planes. Food is very good. Service is always friendly. Great spot. Check it out!
The peach bellini was excellent. The pre-fixe option was great. The choices were very tasty. A little pricey but the view and service definitely made up for it!
