Café Mars is an unusual Italian restaurant, nestled in the heart of the historically Italian neighborhood of Gowanus, Brooklyn. Since May 2023, we have sought to honor tradition while expanding the definition of what an Italian restaurant can be.

Whereas many Italian restaurants tend to use a magnifying glass to zoom in on specific regions and traditions, we instead reach for a telescope. Café Mars menus shine a light on overlooked classics and unexpected flavors that aim to reframe what it means to go out for Italian.

    For parties of more than four guests, we offer a prix fixe menu that showcases our favorite menu items and our favorite way to dine -- family style! For this menu, the party will receive an array of snacks, followed by an antipasti course. Then, a selection of our house made pastas and "main" dishes will round out the meal.     Each meal at Cafe Mars is better than the last--which means that the ever-evolving menu is always bursting with delicious tastes and new visions of Italian food. We have favorites--nearly always have the girelle pasta and always, always order the crudo. This visit we really enjoyed the new cod entree (celery fries!) and are looking forward to getting back to have the grilled clams and mussels. We're always happy at the thought of going to Cafe Mars and are even happier having experienced its welcoming and fun dining. Just stellar!

    Cafe Mars is THE BEST. The design and ambience are so cool, the food is inventive as hell and so delicious. We interfaced with multiple servers AND cooks and everyone was so hospitable and engaged. This restaurant / experience is a MUST. GO. NOW.

    Nice food and location. A little challenging to make any changes or additions to reservations and meal selections. Entire group of 5 had a wonderful meal, drinks and dessert
