Cafe Murano Bermondsey
As a regular post-opera/ballet diner at Cafe Murano in Covent Garden it's great to have this closer to home.
For semi-frail elderly like us for whom public transport is not an option it also has the advantage that it's only a 100 metre walk into the iniquitous congestion charge zone.
Good food; great staff; lively.
Great place! I go here often and the food is always outstanding :)
So impressed by the food and service here! A true hidden gem - we’ll definitely be back!
Came here for a birthday celebration. Attentive service. Food delicious. We all had pasta as a starter plus meat, fish and seafood mains. Not the largest of mains but tasty. Shared a tiramisu which was fab. A birthday bottle of processco on the house was a lovely touch. Would definitely return
Outdoor seating is in a little side alley, well distanced. Service impeccable. Food sensational. Will be back pronto.
The staff were welcoming and attentive.
Our food was excellent. We had cocktails and the house white wine and both were delicious.
The small risotto balls to start were delicious (lamb and pea arancini), as was the roasted peppers. We had 3 plates of pasta to share between 2, the Tortelli, Spaghetti Amatriciana and the Rigatoni, spicy fennel sausage ragu. The pasta was cooked to perfection. All 3 were delicious and highly recommended. By dessert, we were quite full, so shared the vanilla panna cotta that had the right amount of shake. Delicious and light end to the meal. We also had the peach non-alcoholic cocktail which looked and tasted amazing. Will be back!
V good food, a good atmosphere. Staff were friendly.
Great service, amazing food
Having dined at your different restaurants a number of times, I was excited to come back post lockdown. Whilst I am understanding of the challenging new environment, there is no excuse for 4 people dining taking 3 hours. Staff were inattentive when it came to ordering and coming to wait our table. Nobody came to tell us our food would be delayed as we sat waiting, even when we asked we were just told it was coming with no explanation. Later overhearing arguments between staff as to why dishes were delayed. We sat for almost 20minutes waiting for bread to go with the buratta starter, being told it was in the oven but yet were then served bread that was clearly not straight from the oven! We then received the wrong mains, which were placed on our table incorrectly and then staff came back to collect and serve to other guests (not sure that's ideal in any circumstance let alone covid). Our wine was corked, and I had to politely tell the server twice that it wouldn't be drinkable, no matter how much more was poured out "to check if it's still corked". After sitting for hours waiting our own table, there was never any acknowledgement that things were not going too well, no apology or recognition; despite us being quite clearly frustrated.
The food is great, good value and the wine list also very good. But your service greatly let you down, to the extent that I felt the need to write this. I regularly go out for food and I desperately want the industry to do well and thrive again, especially restaurants I have visited before, but when you have guests returning, looking forward to a first meal out in months, you need to make more of an effort.
Consistently great food. Light and airy inside adapted very well for social distancing. Will definitely return.
Fresh and flavoursome food. We will definitely return.
We have been regulars at Cafe Murano in Covent Garden for post-opera suppers since it opened. It was a pleasure to have our first post-lockdown dinner out at the comparatively new branch in Bermondsey. Food was exceptional. We were in the back where it was less buzzy but no problem. Free parking available on the street outside.
Lovely experience, beautiful restaurant the starters and mains where incredible but the dessert was quite poor
So nice to get out again, restaurant well set up to manage current requirements.
Lovely friendly staff.
Good vibe and great cocktails/wine - food was fresh and good flavours but not incredible.
An absolute favourite. The service is friendly and attentive, the maitre d always remembers us and comes over to say hello. The menu is always seasonal, and a perfect mix of specials and regular favourites. It has a lovely buzzy feel here and coming back after lockdown it was our first choice and just as brilliant as always.
Great to be back in a restaurant after Lockdown.
We had a great evening but if I was to pick one thing that bothered me I would say "Bread"
We were offered bread after taking our order (said yes) and it took so long to come the Antipasti course was done. When it did arrive it was 2 slices. 2 slices for 2 people???? 1 slice each. Hmmmm.
When our Primi dishes arrived again I asked for bread again to mop up the sauces. It took so long to arrive and the excuse was it was being baked. Hmmmmm again. When it did arrive it was not freshly cooked bread. Yes, it was fresh but from the morning delivery not fresh out of the oven.
Again 2 slices, 1 each. Hmmmmmmmm.
I spent around £200 for dinner so want more than 1 slice of bread each at a time and slow delivery.
OK, all in all we had a great evening and no complaints about anything else but come on guys. Sort your bread out. I would prefer to pay for it and get 8 slices than this.
Went there for daughter's birthday. Perfect ambience, excellent very friendly service and delicious food. Cannot fault for a family meal or any special occasion.
Beautiful unfussy tasty food - satisfying but not heavy. A friendly welcome and a delightful evening
Went last Friday, great food and a charming ambiance, the staff seemed a bit buzzeled but understandable with all of what's happening. We had a great time
Just an absolutely amazing way for my Wife and I to say goodbye to London for a little while!!
Angela and Her team were outstanding and friendly and the food and drink was superb!!
We will be returning and recommending a visit to anyone!!
Great vibe, food and service. All felt very safe. Will definitely be going back
Great food, excellent friendly service, relaxing fun atmosphere. A fantastic local restaurant with food from an outstanding chef. Always a great, fun experience.
Fantastic service, welcoming, polite and knowledgeable. Excellent lunch menu with perfectly executed seasonal dishes. Sommelier very helpful and made perfect wine recommendations.
My second visit to the restaurant, and the first after the interesting period between March and July. Was pleased that the Chicken Milanese was still on the menu, and the complimentary bread was great. They did a good job with accommodating this solo diner.
Great to be back at one of my favourite lunchtime haunts
Lovely restaurant. Food never disappoints and they allow dogs and are always very friendly
We had a fantastic meal and enjoyed every last second of the experience, even being served our main courses by Angela which was completely unexpected!! We will be back.
Great food and ambience - simple but very tasty. we’ll be back!
We have enjoyed Cafe Murano ever since it opened in our neighborhood in Bermondsey in late 2019. Our meal on July 15 was the first dinner we had at any restaurant since March, when restaurants in London were shuttered for the pandemic. This was also the first day Cafe Murano had opened up since being allowed to do so. During our meal, Cafe Murano again delivered what we had come to love there. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was pleasant and relaxed. The restaurant also shared the currently available VAT reduction with us as customers. We wholeheartedly recommend.
Our first visit, very enjoyable. The mushroom, truffle, aranchini are now a forever favourite!
Second time here , just gets better , will be back soon
Highlights - the bread and olive oil, the venison was well cooked, rosemary potatoes delicious; arancini to die for; decent wine selection; great service. Surprisingly the pasta was a underwhelming and thrown on the plate. That aside a decent meal.
Meeting friends from Toronto
Sadly disappointed as food very uninspiring. One of us had a cold fish stew! and the portions were very small
Service just ruined the whole experience. Such a shame.
My fish was raw when it was brought to me. The staff quickly took it away and it was replaced but no one came over to apologise, which was a shame.
I visited Cafe Murano for a late lunch with friends last Sunday and we all liked it there. We are local residents and like trying new places to eat in our area, this place is definitely going to be in our list from now to come back again and again.
It was off peak time , a cozy relaxing atmosphere, the service was great and we really enjoyed the food.
There were a few nice dishes on the menu which I’d love to try.
I ordered Stone Bass for the main course , my friend had a Hake fish dish and her husband had a lamb dish. We also had rosemary potato as a side dish which was also really nice.
We also had octopus for the starter and shared tiramisu for dessert.
I can’t see any areas for improvement, we enjoyed everything we had. Next time I’ll try something different as everything looked nice and moorish in the menu.
Thank you so much!
Very disappointing quality and service particularly given Angela Hartnett's name above the door; totally understand that it's more of a casual experience but quality of food totally unmemorable and service really slow until I brought it to waitresses attention. We'd eaten at Padella the day before and there is no comparison...leagues apart.....I really wonder what Angela Hartnett would have made of it had she been dining there for the first time.....I doubt she would go back either. With so many great food experiences in London, unless we were unlucky, if this is representational of brand Murano, then we cound not recommend "bland " Murano.
