Cafe Murano Bermondsey
Our 100% Italian wine list will as ever focus on smaller quality focused winemakers and along side the regular wine list will be a small frequently changing list of great wines only available in limited quantities.
Our first visit, very enjoyable. The mushroom, truffle, aranchini are now a forever favourite!
Second time here , just gets better , will be back soon
Highlights - the bread and olive oil, the venison was well cooked, rosemary potatoes delicious; arancini to die for; decent wine selection; great service. Surprisingly the pasta was a underwhelming and thrown on the plate. That aside a decent meal.
Meeting friends from Toronto
Sadly disappointed as food very uninspiring. One of us had a cold fish stew! and the portions were very small
Service just ruined the whole experience. Such a shame.
My fish was raw when it was brought to me. The staff quickly took it away and it was replaced but no one came over to apologise, which was a shame.
I visited Cafe Murano for a late lunch with friends last Sunday and we all liked it there. We are local residents and like trying new places to eat in our area, this place is definitely going to be in our list from now to come back again and again.
It was off peak time , a cozy relaxing atmosphere, the service was great and we really enjoyed the food.
There were a few nice dishes on the menu which I’d love to try.
I ordered Stone Bass for the main course , my friend had a Hake fish dish and her husband had a lamb dish. We also had rosemary potato as a side dish which was also really nice.
We also had octopus for the starter and shared tiramisu for dessert.
I can’t see any areas for improvement, we enjoyed everything we had. Next time I’ll try something different as everything looked nice and moorish in the menu.
Thank you so much!
Very disappointing quality and service particularly given Angela Hartnett's name above the door; totally understand that it's more of a casual experience but quality of food totally unmemorable and service really slow until I brought it to waitresses attention. We'd eaten at Padella the day before and there is no comparison...leagues apart.....I really wonder what Angela Hartnett would have made of it had she been dining there for the first time.....I doubt she would go back either. With so many great food experiences in London, unless we were unlucky, if this is representational of brand Murano, then we cound not recommend "bland " Murano.
Friendly, knowledgable, formally relaxed service. A buzzing open kitchen. Incredible food, tasty, authentic, fresh and exciting.
Loved the service and food was amazing. We are thrilled to have Murano in our neighbourhood.
The food is just so good!
Another fabulous meal in this wonderful addition to Bermondsey Street. If you love Italian food, coupled with a great wine list, informal atmosphere and great service (and frankly what’s not to love?!) then this should definitely be on your lunch or dinner list!
The wine server was helpful and knowledgeable: she guided us to some good choices. My dinner was very disappointing: hard arancini, underseasoned pork rib, dry pieces of rhubarb. My husband’s pasta was undercooked and gluey. I have written a personal letter to Ms Hartnett to relay our disappointment at the poor standard of food at my birthday celebration.
It’s very rare that you can go to an Italian restaurant and eat food that your nonna used to make. Unpretentious, authentic and relaxed in very Bermondsey surroundings. This is my new go to.
An excellent meal delivered by a attentive server, the restaurant was busy and the ambience was pleasant
great flavours - great service - great location - great value
Super relaxed, pet (dog) friendly. Lovely staff. Very delicious food. We will return for sure
Yummy pasta, nice wine, nice vibes! Love this. Very pleased and will return
High marks for high energy atmosphere and very attentive waitstaff. That said, we were disappointed with the food itself on our first and only visit. Since other local options on Bermondsey are excellent (Flour and Grape, Pizarro, to name two), we were expecting more in the way of creativity. Neither of the dishes we opted for came with any sauce, for example, or side bits. Very plain. We know Cafe Murano is capable of much more and hope to see them take up the challenge.
Lovely long Saturday lunch. Warm customer service. Very pleasant.
Had the menu of the day which was outrageously good value - heavenly salad followed by scrumptious pork then piquant pecorino with crackers. Such a lovely room and delightful service.
Relaxed restaurant with proper Italian food, not trying to complicate the recipes!
Good- but all a bit quick. Sometimes they take the Cafe in the title a bit literally! Good food and service. But in and out before you know it!
Fabulous food, we sat at the counter watching the bar staff who worked so hard all night and were entertaining and chatty. Great atmosphere. Bonus bumping into Angela Hartnett on the way in. Will definitely be back
Ragu was dry, however staff happily removed it from the bill as well as all our coffees as way of an apology. Apart from that, the food was excellent and very good value for money. Table felt a little bit cramped against the tables around it. Staff we all very friendly.
Great celebration meal for my friend but I found the pasta course quite underwhelming. They didn’t have my favourite pumpkin gnocchi which was a real shame. The arancini was still great though and it was nice for the waitor to include a birthday cake in with the meal. Very much appreciative for the additional service. Thank you.
Great food, excellent service and a wonderful atmosphere. (Special mention to the general manager at the door - lovely chap)
Service was great! In London always a hit and miss and positively surprised at Café Murano! Good was varied and delicious. I look forward to my next visit.
First meal at this new restaurant. As ever the staff were lovely and welcoming and we had a lovely free pre starter of anchovies and truffled arancini. Food good as always but I found the menu less enticing than the St James branch. My food was good particularly the pork chop and grapes agridulce.
My 3rd visit and it didn’t disappoint
Food is amazing, service is friendly
My only comment is that I would like to see maybe a special or more regular changes to the menu
At this spot on Bermondsey St. you have three Italian options in a row. We appreciate them all for different things - the atmosphere at Cafe Murano and the wait staff are excellent. The vegan options need to be sexed up a bit!
Very nice atmosphere and service. All the food was great but the rigatoni with ragu was average.
A modern Cafe Murano; it works. The food and service were exemplary.
Saturday afternoon lunch is recommended.
Great menu; warm, welcoming service and superb food and wine- definitely would visit again. A really fabulous restaurant that sets the standard on an already highly competitive Bermondsey Street.
Always great food, friendly and efficient service. Cosy atmosphere.
The service was outstanding our waiter james made our evening very pleasurable. The food was fantastic as was the wine. we will definitely be returning in the future.
Service was poor. No one enquired at any point how the food was and we were told twice at the beginning that we only had the table for two hours - not the welcome you expect when you are spending £60 a head.
Decent food lovely waiter really enjoyed the Aranci but overall slightly overpriced, but where isn’t overpriced in London? Decent drinks too!
Lovely friendly staff and beautiful food. We sat in a booth which was comfortable and private.
I have found Cafe Murano a better place during the day than evening bookings.
