   It would have been a more pleasant experience if there had not been a large dog in the dining area. It didn’t not have on a service dog vest. I had to tell the gentleman to pull his dog back because it was getting in front of our booth. As we were leaving my husband noticed that the dog had his head and front paws in the other gentleman’s lap and was licking the table. I don’t think that leads to a very sanitary environment.

   I think the bartenders name was Isaiah, but I’m not 100% sure. Anyway, he was very attentive and professional. The food was good as always.

   I had the brisket and i can say it was average. Not overly juicy and it seemed like it had maybe been smoked awhile ago. Sides were Ok. Service was good and atmosphere was good.

   While the service was good. The food was poor. I got the prime rib and shrimp. The prime rib was fatty and overcooked. The shrimp were burnt and inedible. My wife's ribs were dry and not very flavorful. Will not return.

    Christmas night so it was chaotic and hostess seemed inexperienced. It took 25 minutes to get us seated. However when we were seated it was to a large corner booth which was perfect with grand children. Nick, our server was great. The bar was slow so he brought water and a basket of assorted rolls. He handled a spilled glass of wine calmly and kept the children happy with Shirley Temple’s when the food was slow. The food was pretty good but the kitchen ran out of several entrees and also several desserts despite the fact that our reservation was for 5:15. I have no idea what they fed later customers! Still, despite the shortcomings, we all were fed and had a good time. Management and staff are still not up to pre pandemic level of service but that seems to be common. I appreciated that fact that they one a few restaurants open on Christmas Day.

    We understand it was Christmas. Our server was absolutely great and we enjoyed our meal! We were upset with the management on the flow of Christmas Day. We had reservations for 4:15. Showed up at 4 and were not seated to after 5 because the kitchen was backed up with to go orders and only one person working the front desk.

    Everything from the room temperature to the food was cold. I ordered a coffee from the bar that was cold. Sent it back to only get a lukewarm coffee.

    No complaints about the quality of the food. However, they ran out of certain dishes early in the day. Even with a reservation, there was a small delay is being seated. In addition the restaurant was very cold (understand that the temperatures outside was unseasonable frigid).

    Calhoun’s turkey and dressing meal was surprisingly better than expected. My husband and I ordered the turkey and our son chose the half slab of ribs, broccoli and fries. He really should have ordered a full slab since he is a big eater. We all enjoyed our meal. Turkey Creek Calhoun’s was colder than I remember—had to keep coat on while eating.

    Over all it was a wonderful evening. We were disappointed with the booth seating, as we had 5 guests and it was very tight. The other issue was they did last call at 7:45. Since we got seated at 7:15, that was a little annoying. The hostess should have informed us when we first got seated. Our server did a great job and meals were delicious.

    We had the absolute best waiter we may have ever had in our lives. It was the most stress-free, loving Thanksgiving. We’ve ever had thank you Calhouns, and thank all the workers that were there to serve us, and not with their own families, you made our holiday!

    Our waitress was great but kitchen notified us of out of stock entrees as the rest of the table was being served. (It was a football game day so very busy.) Food was fine but nothing special. Caesar salad drowning in dressing. They did handle special dietary request efficiently.

    Ordered off of their daily special menu and selected their BBQ trio that included a 1/3 rack of ribs, three slices of brisket and a healthy serving of pulled pork plus a side of roasted butternut squash. The brisket and squash were very good. The pulled pork was fair. The 1/3 rack of ribs were severly overcooked and hidden in a thick layer of BBQ sauce. Their jalapeño margarita was superb!!     I tried the grilled lemon garlic chicken for the first time and it was delicious! A great healthy option here. We also ordered the fried green tomatoes and wings with baked potatoes. I would have preferred crispier wings but they weren’t bad. The jalapeño pineapple margarita was SPICY and good.
