California Dreaming - Spanish Fort
Since the restaurant has changed its menu, the food has not been as good. The waiter we had today must have been new. He gave my father-in-law a drink that had a piece of something in it. My FIL gave it back and then the waiter accidentally gave it back to him. There were several missed items on our order but honestly I think the gentleman was doing his best. Like I said, the menu has changed and my experiences here have continually declined. It’s disappointing to be losing a great lunch option.
Friendly flexible waiter dinners and drinks about $50. Fun high energy atmosphere.
The only downside is that they reported me as a no-show to Open Table resulting in a disciplinary email from OT That I had to address....and I have that “ding” on my profile now !
The front check in staff seemed completely unfamiliar with Open Table and simply seated us as walk-ins. Think twice about reserving this place using Open Table.
Great setting and awesome food!! We will be back!!!
Everything very good, except my wife’s sirloin steak was truly horrible. She asked for medium rare and it was well done, but also had a weird taste (she asked me to try a bite). Difficult to cut. Server asked if they could make another one, but we declined since it would have arrived too late. Paid full price and an 18% tip because the service was good. We don’t normally complain, but this was an exception. It didn’t agree with her stomach and she had to make a few trips to the toilet that night.
Yes , but this time the restaurant was cold, food took way too long and then it was cold
Valentines Day dinner with my wife. We always enjoy dining there.
One of my favorite places to eat. They make a mean pina colada!
Service was the one redeeming quality of this otherwise disappointing experience. We booked in advance for 07:00 pm on New Year's Eve and arrived early. We checked in with the hostess (who was friendly) and were told that we should expect a fifteen minute wait to be seated. Looking around, you wouldn't understand why a wait was necessary (many tables were unoccupied -- perhaps for other guests with reservations.) A family of four who had no reservation was told that they would have a 45 minute wait, but was curiously sat immediately after us.
When we were finally seated at a booth, it was in the direct path of the entrance. Every time someone opened the doors, we were greeted with a gust of cold air - I eventually accepted our fate and kept my coat on throughout the remainder of the meal. Our server greeted us with a friendly smile and a great personality; she took our drink and appetizer order and promptly returned with them.
To say the appetizer was remotely appetizing would be a stretch. We ordered an onion loaf, which one might believe is an interpretation of the tasty fried onion blossom. Well, I am here to tell you it is not... we were delivered what can be described as an over-sized, overcooked, cube of fried and battered onion rings. Like an off-brand rubik's cube, this sucker was impossible to crack... once I sawed a chunk off, I took a bite and immediately regretted my decision. It was like taking a bite out of the desert - it was bone dry like it had been prepared the week prior, placed under a warming lamp and forgotten about.
Next on the tasting train wreck was my reservoir of caesar dressing and side of lettuce and croutons. This was followed with the delivery of a heaping mound of tepid starch paste that resembled mashed potatoes loaded with icy-cold bacon, cheese, and chives. Rounding off this flavor disaster was a rack of ribs that make the McRib seem like a culinary masterpiece.
Unsurprisingly we will not return for seconds.
One of our favorite places... make a point of partying at California Dreaming!
Reserved table was not available at time slot (1pm). Had to choose between waiting and high chairs.
Our Thanksgiving dinner was wonderful and our server Lance took very good care of us.
We had Thanksgiving dinner here. Service was friendly and efficient. The meal was delicious. Huge portions too.
I couldn’t do half stars or else I would’ve put service as 2.5 stars. We went here for my Grandmothers 60th birthday. I ordered the turkey burger and it was extremely tough. A family member ordered the San Francisco Shrimp and the noodles were dry. We had one waitress for a table of 8. The water was refilled twice throughout the entire dinner. We were asked how the bill was going to be spilt up halfway through dinner which is not the time to do so. They didn’t do anything special such as a free desert or even a percentage off. I would’ve complained but it was a special night and I didn’t want to ruin it. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
The food was fine . Some of it was cold . The problem was that it was very unorganized. There were several occasions where food was trying to be delivered to us which wasn’t ours . Then when our food was ready it kept coming out two at a time and that was very inconvenient for our large party to wait for everyone to get their food
Overall experience was excellent. Service and food really good! Was our 2nd visit for California Dreaming. We will return again!
The waitress wouldn't check on us it was other ones checking then he'll show up when he see them at our table. We asked for him to bring out crab claws & crescent rolls before our food comes out another waitress brought the crescent rolls out & said the claws will be out in a few so eventually our food comes out we half way finished eating he comes over my husband tells him we didn't receive our claws he said sorry hold on & he comes back with them & they wasn't good & my husband & daughter wasn't satisfied with their food at all. We never had a problem with the food or waitress that's why we still drive way up there just to eat cause the food usually good & the waitress is sweet & stay checking on u this the first time we ever had a bad experience here & my husband didn't think it was right that he had to pay the whole price for the claws when it took us forever to get them but he said that's ok I'll go ahead & another thing we told waitress to bring salad out with our food we did as a substitute which we asked how much it would be he said $1.50 we get ticket it says $5.00 each he was honest with us but anyways he brought it out at the wrong time
Love the bread pudding 😍
The service was also wonderful. My floor was wet and they came and wiped it up. Thanks so much!
We requested to sit in Jimmie’s section, sat outside and waited for about 10 minutes before they called me and told me that out table was ready. We went in and the manager (I assume) told us it would be a longer wait so we decided to sit in a different section, not even 10 minutes later they sat someone else in his section. We were confused — not to mention frustrated.
The waiter that served us (he didn’t even give us his name, he just came and asked if we knew what we wanted to drink) he acted like he really didn’t wanna be there. He pretty much rushed us to order.
When we got our food, the girl that delivered it seemed to have an attitude. Our food had a completely different taste, I ordered the same thing as I had last time, crab claws and fries, but the crab claws tasted as if they were cooked in old grease, the fries were hard. The best thing about our meal was the crescent rolls and my water.
It’s like we were at a completely different restaurant than when we came the first time. Completely debating if we’ll come back.
Had an enjoyable Sun lunch for fathers day. Our waitress was very friendly and provided excellent service.
The server Connor was wonderful! The service and cleanliness of restaurant was superb.
Good food and service!
Seated quickly. Good location. Servers were responsive, helpful, friendly but not too. Food tasty and delivered promptly. Steak marinade a bit sweet, but I would readily order again. Overall very positive experience!
Food is decent but definitely not worth what it costs to eat there...rolls must be purchased as an appetizer, steaks not seasoned, water tasted like salt water, tea was soured, server was overwhelmed...overall, not a pleasurable experience
It was Mother’s Day so I know things are going to be busy, but we had to wait for our table even though we had a reservation. Our food was okay but they did not bring it all out at the same time. One person was left waiting for her plate while all the others in the party had been served. It was very loud and didn’t seem ready for such a busy day.
Our experience was great! We booked our reservation online due to it being a holiday. When we arrived we only had to wait 10 mins for our table. The service was great and the food was very tasty! I can not wait to come back!
I’m glad I used Open Table to make reservations today as it was Mother’s Day. The menu has recently changed, but we were pleased with our food. They were very busy but we got great food and service. We will definitely be back.
Great service and continuity in food preparation
Arrived earlier than our reservation; promptly seated, but by the bar where it was noisy.
Service was good.
Food was good.
First time at this chain. Too bad it does not exist where we live in New Mexico. Very nice experience.
The music is too loud. It's hard to have a conversation. Otherwise everything was good, the food was excellent as was the service.
The food we ordered was absolutely delicious. Just wish it wasn’t so far from where we live. But we will be back.
Food not that good and amount of food stinks. 1 piece of fish on a $30 seafood platter
Volume of background music limited table conversation and was only negative experienced
Service was not good. Had to ask for refills on drinks. Took food too long to get to table and some of my family had warm/cold food. Not a good dining experience and the food was just ok.
The music is way too loud but otherwise it was a nice experience. Good food.
Having raised booths with hard wood sides is rather hard for short people to get in and out of... especially out.
California Dreaming is a great place to grab a drink and get some good food without having to go "Into town". A little noisy for my taste, but convenient. I prefer it to "fast" food. Food is always good.
The waiter was very courteous and professional. The food was of a good quality and served in a timely manor as well as appropriate temperature. The alcoholic drinks were good, not watered down or stale. The waiter was attentive and pleasant.
Food wasn't impressive for the money
Very expensive. Great atmosphere and service though. Food was blahs not much flavor
