Wonderful food and warm caring attentive service, we will be back soon and often!
The food was amazing and the staff were warm and inviting. The eggplant appetizer and panna cotta was phenomenal!
Everything was fantastic - from the food to the ambiance to the service. A really cute restaurant tucked away in a random strip mall but the food and experience speak for themselves!
Nice quaint place. I had the Lobster Ravioli and it was great.
Went for the dine la special, $59 for prix fixe 3 courses and desert.
Showed up the first day of Dine LA for a 7pm reservation and immediately they inform us they are out of the meatballs, one of three apps choices. How in the world are they out of one of nine menu items early on the first night.
First course: crostini with burrata and shaved black truffle. I was shocked to see the heaping amount of truffle shaved over the 6 crostini’s (2 orders) they placed in from of me and my date. Once I tasted the extremely bland flavor and chalky texture of the truffles I understood. Simply poor quality. The dish was also severely under seasoned.
Second course: spinach tagliatelle with meat sauce, and a lobster ravioli in saffron cream sauce. The tagliatelle was very overcooked, pasta was soft and soggy, not even close to al dente. The meat sauce was lackluster and tasted like salt and beef. The ravioli on the other hand was undercooked. The lobster inside had a fishy quality. It tasted frozen, and did not have the sweet savory flavor of fresh lobster.
At this point complained to the waiter who then brought out the owner. I politely as I could expressed my dissatisfaction with the meal. He ensured me I was the only guest who had complained all night. Looking around the room, I was not surprised, it did not look like a crowd who could know and appreciate good Italian food.
Took our third course to go, a New York steak dish and a pan grilled sea bass dish. Tried a bite each back home and they were equally unimpressive. Seemed like poor quality ingredients cooked lazily.
All in all, If you are looking for Italian in the west side, this is not the place. Overpriced, poor quality, don’t make the same mistake I did and spend your hard earned money elsewhere.
Good service, cute restaurant but food was stone cold
One of my friends recommended me this place and we had black truffle pasta, french fries and Filetto E Spinach. Those were so great and tasty! The service was great too. It was my first time visiting but I will definitely to go this place again.
Each time we eat at this place, we rave about the food. It is homemade Italian food that is truly special and delicious. The place is cute, homey, a perfect reflection of the owner and his mother who started it all.
The only issue we have, and why we don't visit more often, is that the prices are high, especially for the amount of food served. The portions are small, you will not leave this restaurant stuffed; frankly I'm very ok with that part. But to pay $200 for four thin/healthy people, without alcohol, and leave not full, seems like a lot.
So this is a special occasion place for us, because again, the food is outstanding.
My friends and I found this restaurant to be a real treasure. The white truffle risotto was sublime. Two of our party got the black truffle tasting menu and loved it. The other person in our party really enjoyed his pasta dish, but wished it was a bit larger. Such a lovely experience. Will be back.
Nico was the best!!!
Food is fantastic! Truffles are so fresh and the service is excellent. Really well priced wine list too, will definitely be back
Wonderful as always! This was our third visit to this Culver City gem. Food is perfectly rich; portions are spot on. Don’t forget dessert...cannolis are exquisite. We love when the owner is there...he truly brings an added layer of service and warmth to one’s dining experience.
This was our first visit to Casa Modena, but we'll probably give it another try. We appreciated the rustic ambiance, the moderate noise level and the pasta dishes. My pumpkin ravioli was a quite good, but the salads were nothing special, and the entree portions were small.
Grazie Galaxy for a great meal. Will definately come back and try some more things off the menu. Ciao
Keeper. We’ll be back.
Authentic Italian cuisine in a comfortable casual atmosphere. If you enjoy truffles, this is the place for you!
Great environment. Authentic Italian experience. Will definitely go back again with family.
Very good food, but very small portion for very big money.
The entire restaurant is covered in gaudy dusty things such as pots, dead plants and figurines. Pretty weird. Service was slow and haphazard and the food was fair. Can’t recommend this place.
Warm and inviting restaurant with friendly and personable service. The owner was very generous with truffle shaving!
The food was excellent. Real homemade taste and flavor. I live in Orlando and wish I lived in Culver City
This place was fantastic from the prices, to the quality and authenticity of the meal, to the outstanding service! This is officially our new local Italian spot!
Took my family here because the experience at Casa Modena is reminiscent of home. The food is delicious and the owner/chef is an amazing host.
Nice surprise. Tasty and authentic. Only problem is very little parking. Had to find a place on a very busy street. Just come early because even the parking on the street is limited.
Casa Modena is a jewel on the West Side of Los Angeles. The perfect spot to grab a bite on the way to LAX or to meet a good friend for a delicious very very like you are in Italy authentic meal. It is also priced reasonably enough to be a regular spot. I'm a huge fan of the lasagne and chicken limone but everything is delish on the menu. The Italian wine list is very well curated and also well priced. If you want to take a mini vacation, seek out this cozy, eclectic place with comforting dishes made by your Italian mama.
Very good risotto ... and the Begian fries with truffle!
Great new find! Food was fantastic, authentic Italian food. Everything was so fresh, from the buratta, to the frito misto to pasta to the deserts. We’ll definitely be back.
Many of the dishes were smothered with cheese or cream. Not exactly my type of Italian cooking. Not worth $60 for dine LA. Service poor by waiter’s own admission; forgot my wine; asked if we were waiting for dessert when our entrees had not been served. Friendly family owned restaurant, hope they survive.
Charming bistro with excellent, authentic Italian food. We had a bite before a concert at the nearby Forum and plan to return for a more leisurely meal and explore the menu a bit more.
We had a lovely, romantic table. The food is truly outstanding. The staff was amazing as well. We felt as if we’d been transported to Italy. Every bite was an experience.
Everything was very delicious! Loved the cozy atmosphere and owner's hospitality
The pastas were very good. If you love Truffle, this is the place to be.
This is a really cute restaurant and great service. Only thing is that the food was sub par. My husband and I love black truffle and have had various versions of black truffle pasta in many restaurants. The version at this place was overpriced, salty, and truffles were not that aromatic and tasty. Also had the lobster ravioli which was very salty and lobster seemed like it had been previously frozen. Had high hopes but were very disappointed.
There is nothing to not like about this place.
Food was excellent!! We had the garlic shrimp and brancino and highly recommended it
