Casanova Italian Restaurant
I raved to our friends about how wonderful this place was and I ended the night apologizing for taking them there. Our server was very indifferent and almost acted like she didn’t want to be here-I wished she wasn’t too! The food was plated very nice but the veal two of us ordered had to be cut with a knife. Instead of telling us the specials, our server listed all the items not available- just as we were ready to order. There was no draft beer and what they did have in bottles wasn’t chilled, which meant an extra wait for drinks. All-in-all, a disappointment.
Best raviolis and lasagna on maui
Worth the ride from both East and West Maui. Makawao should be visited if you want to see country Hawaii
Pasta was over done. Flavor was great, but the over done pasta changes the texture and that wasn’t great. Service was good.
Enjoyed the menu selection. Very noisy but overall nice.
Upon arriving at Casanova Restaurant we were taken back by the appearance of the place. We had a 5pm reservation and the door opened at 5 pm. As we looked through the windows into the eating area, we seriously contemplated leaving. But, being a bit adventurous, we stayed and went into the restaurant. It is in dire need of some TLC.
We were seated at the back of the dining room along a lovely row of windows with tropical plants, fountain and lights - very pretty.
Our waitress in training, Ruth, was amazing. She was very attentive and accommodating.
The absolute best part of our experience was the food! It was truly amazing. The portions were perfect. The taste and presentation was superb. We had Caesar salad, scallops and the Black Linguine Pescatore.
Good food. Fun toen
Food was not timed well, took a really long time for entrees, husband got his pasta dish, when mine came out it was all clumped together and dried out on top like it had been sitting under the warmer for a while...
usually don’t have a problem here, has been consistent in the past. Heard they just got new owners? Not sure why this time was sub par.
Had a reservation through open table at 730. Walked in 5 mins before and waited in the waiting area (cushioned chairs). There were 3 other groups who came later than us who were seated first. We told them we had a reservation and they told is they couldn’t find it. My husband told the host when he came to check on us that we haven’t been helped and their service was disappointing. We were ignored for 15 minutes and we had no idea what was going on. Someone checking on us would have been better than getting no service at all. Service needs a lot of work.
Had another great dinner at Casanova. Fresh warm focaccia bread to start of course! We had the dinner for two and split a panzanella salad for appetizer, pescatore pasta course which was perfect as usual, and the fish special main dish which was perfectly cooked opakapaka with a large amount of delicious pistachio crust. We love the affogato so had that for desert and had to take the tiramisu that comes with the dinner for two home for later we were so full.
Thank you Casanova!
We don’t have many choices of restaurants in our area: therefore, I would recommend them. I have eaten at this restaurant multiple occasions, but unfortunately this past visit was unsatisfactory. The food and most important the service was of the poorest quality.
Service,food always consistent
Wine list is great
Casanova is a favorite for us
Excellent food and beverages! Good service and ambiance! The temperature in the restaurant was very cool and comfortable!
The food was inconsistent and much better a few nights before. Disappointing to order the same thing and not have it be nearly as good. Also it is so loud you can’t even have a pleasant conversation.
Great Food Great Restaurant Great Location
Generally, the food at Casanova is good, however the Lasagna was terrible, it was unrecognizable as Lasagna. Stouffer's frozen Lasagna in the freezer section is 10x more Lasagna than Casanova's. The problem with it was not taste, but was it was as a whole. It was MAYBE 2 noodles thick (maybe 3/4 of an inch thick at most), no Ricotta cheese, basically, no substance. If you look at images of Lasagna on Yahoo, there is no where you would ever see a picture of Casanova's lasagna. Very disappointing from an Italian Restaurant.
I’ve dined there over 20 times plus. That should say something.
Enjoyed everything except for the dessert. We ordered the dinner for two special and the dessert included is the tiramisu. I get very sick when I have anything with coffee or coffee flavoring in it, so I asked if we could possibly substitute the tiramisu for another dessert on the menu of equal or lesser value and explained why. Unfortunately, no substitutions are permitted, so we were given the tiramisu which neither of us could eat and that was a bummer. It also defeated the purpose of us ordering the dinner for two special in the first place. If we’d been informed just after asking for a substitution that it wouldn’t be possible, we wouldn’t have ordered the special. We weren’t told that the substitution wouldn’t be possible until they brought out the tiramisu and then they chose to inform us of that policy.
Been coming to Maui since 1985 & finally tried Casanova - what a find!
We had a great dinner at Casanova’s. It was a very busy time but the service was quick and helpful. The food was just wonderful. The noise level was a little high which made it difficult to talk between our party. Overall awesome place to eat and have cocktails
Casanova Italian Restaurant is always my go-to first choice for Italian Cuisine on Maui. I love the salads, traditional pasta, and pizza choices. The service staff always seems happy to see me, and is very attentive to our dining needs.
We live Casanova’s! Great service, great food and close by.
My husband and I love Casanovas, they do not disappoint.
Everyone loved what they ordered. The staff was great.
I wrote ahead on Open Table to let Casanova’s know that we were celebrating my husband’s 71st birthday. When we went in the manager told him Happy Birthday so I knew they knew it was his birthday. But when we were finished with our dinner, the waitress asked if we wanted dessert. We all said “no” but we waited for his free birthday dessert which never came (he’s always revived it w/o asking in previous years and, in fact, at our 30th anniversary celebration at Mama’s, we didn’t have to request a celebration dessert - it was delivered w/a candle and a congratulations wish!! We were very disappointed that there was no dessert and when I asked the waitress, she said it was because we said we didn’t want one!! We shouldn’t have had to ask - that’s why I told them ahead of time! It was supposed to be a surprise!!!! If I’d have said, “yes”, there wouldn’t have been a surprise! VERY DISAPPOINTING, Casanovas’!!!!
Dinner was outstanding. Well worth the drive from anywhere on Maui!
Our whole experience was wonderful. The wait staff was very knowledgeable. We sat back by the garden which was very relaxing and pleasant to look at throughout dinner. My lamb dish was delicious; I had the wrapped asparagus for an appetizer - yummy! My husband had rib eye steak which was very tender and juicy. It was his birthday and I wanted to treat him to something special...and it was! Thank you so much to everyone who worked that evening.
Casanova has been our go-to place for decades. It never disappoints. I particularly like the taco dishes and the early bird libation special is so appreciated.
My mom used to work here when I was a kid and I came back to see what’s changed. It’s SOOO amazing still! I love it and everyone that works here
Fantastic as always!!!
Wonderful place with great food! I had their homemade ravioli. It was made with fresh herbs from the garden located close to the restaurant. Truly the best ravioli I've ever had.
We took advantage of the special dinner for two and found the proportions to be more than we could eat with the quality the normal excellent from Cassanova's .
This is our "go-to" date night spot. The food here is phenomenal!
Food is fresh and superb. Service is outstanding by Patrick. Parking could be tricky.
We are frequent diners at this location. Service ran slower than in the past. Noise level seems to increase each time we visit. Food has always been excellent.
This restaurant is a hidden gem, it isn't a tourist place, it is a locals place and specializes in outstanding Italian dishes, all in house made, including the pasta's. The pricing is reasonably set, not set for the tourist trade. Dishes are ample, the Vongole is one of the best around, the Carbonara is outstanding thought I suggest requesting it without the onions since they overpower the dish. If you like onions go for it. The Spinachi salad/appetizer is well worth ordering and ending the evening with a Sicilian Martini made with Lemoncello is ideal. The wine list is reasonably priced with a good selection of Italian wines. Corkage is $20 for brought in wine. Highly recommended as well as reservations.
Our Upcountry go to for dependably good food. Chicken Matone is s good as Tuscany. Risotto, pasta and salads are all worth mentioning. Duck is excellent, but often sold out.
I had one of the best fish dishes ever and my wife's pasta dish was very good, also. I know because she could not quite finish and I helped her.
Excellent food, homemade pasta, quaint town surrounded by wonderful art galleries and excellent retail shops. Loved the service and atmosphere.
We love Casanova’s. Great getaway for a dinner night out. (-;
