Had the marinated steak entree and it’s was incredible. Perfectly cooked med-rare. Cocktails were stellar as always; service too.
Our service was great, the food was on point, and the cocktails were delicious! They were super accommodating for our party of 10. Would definitely recommend!
Great atmosphere. Food was great. Service was excellent. Would definitely go back.
A gem! Drinks have always been awesome, the food is amazing too! Highly recommend!
Very very very noisy. Large drunk table of 10 allowed to yell and scream during dinner.
This is a pretty cool upscale casual restaurant, was a previous house converted. The decor is nice, has brick walls, hardwood floors, and a nice sitting area in the backyard. The staff were very friendly and the food was good. I was disappointed at the prices, though. The prices are surprisingly very high; they are comparable to Galatoire's or Commander's, without the white tablecloth service. This is the only reason for my lower evaluation.
What an incredible meal. For a Pre Fixe New Years Eve Dinner we were all excited about the meals we ate. Our server was extremely hospitable as well.
Cellar Door has really great food. However, you’ll expect to wait a good while for everything including drinks. Our waitress was friendly and helpful and the drinks we ordered were near perfect. We came in for a nice New Year’s Eve dinner and the noise level was acceptable, but as the night went on, more and more large parties began to gather in the small restaurant gradually increasing the noise level. This restaurant is well decorated and the ambiance is romantic. I’d recommend dining here only on a night that would not be so busy
The burger and fries were incredible. The menu was simple and changed every few months; which is nice. The restaurant itself was cool and historic.
Low rating unfortunately because we never got seated! We were about 20 mins. early, there were at least 5 tables open but the host asked us to wait at the bar. We did for 20 mins. and went back to the host to see if he was going to seat us. He said give him a few minutes and while we did, he seated every open table but not with us! So we left. Very disappointing. It was not packed. No one was waiting when we arrived at 5:10 for a 5:30 reservation.
Fantastic spot hidden in plain site. Beautiful historic building, cocktails were on point, and the food blew us away. Had the seasonal market fish which was cooked perfectly, and my wife had the blue crab gnocchi which she said was the best dish of the year for her.
Everything was beyond excellent! Had the market fish and couldn't get enough of the cream sauce! Make sure you try their signature cocktails! Cant wait to go back!
Slacker Manager hasn't changed the online menu for 2 years but the current menu is completely different. My party went to Cellar Door for dinner and left hungry.
The waitstaff is amateur and could not simply suggest an option for the hungry masses..
I asked to see the manager. Quickly he made excuses and offered explanations not solutions. He threatened me when confronted by the fact there is not one VEGAN option yet it is advertised.
DO NOT GO HERE! This place is cruising on it's past and has a limited future!
The manager is hostile towards homosexuals.
Brunch seating on gameday. Very limited menu. Would give them another try for a full menu dinner service.
Air conditioning not working so we almost left. Sat beneath a ceiling fan which helped. It was a Saturday night and the restaurant had only a few tables filled. It is a shame as it is an interesting old home/ brothel with great food. But no air did not make for a long, leisurely dinner. Would have loved to stay for dessert and the homemade limoncello, but no air made for a short dining experience.
Great atmosphere, food and service. Will definitely be back!
No functioning A/C. Very hot. Kitchen closed at 9pm. Weren’t told this and waitress suggested we get dessert somewhere else.
Everything was delicious. It was very hot inside the restaurant but the food was worth it.
We always try to discover a great new spot along with our favorites when we come over from Pensacola, which we do frequently. We tried Cellar Door before we went to the Queen concert based on reviews, being on Open Table, and location for easy walking distance from our hotel and Concert venue. Loved our experience here! Food was great, cocktails were awesome and the service was very attentive and engaging. I have a feeling this one is going to be on our “list” of favorites to come back to, introduce our friends to, and recommend to others ! Thank you!
They gave our table away
As usual; fantastic food and drink with lovely service. Worth every penny every time
We had a wonderful experience. The food was great. The cocktails were very good. The manager gave us a tour of the property. Absolutely wonderful.
Exceptional food in an interesting historic building. Quite pricey, but the food was excellent. We will probably return to Cellar Door on our next visit to NOLA.
Beautiful building and atmosphere. Excellent food quality and presentation. Did not have to wait long for food. Great drinks and service.
Amazing cocktails, service and food!
Food was so incredibly salty. Scallops dish was inedible.
Th drinks were wonderful, the same as we had experienced in the past.
The food was not what we had experienced in the past. The burger and fries used to be presented in a different way and the fries used to be AMAZING but they were completely different this time. The menu is seasonal, so maybe it was just a bad menu, but it was very limited. The scallops and pork belly were good but tiny portion for the high price. There weren’t many options for shareable apps, what happened to the cracklins and that hummus?! It was disappointing that these weren’t on the menu.
We will be back for drinks, not food.
At first we seemed like we were being set up for disappointment since the menu on their website is quite different than what they have right now. It is more limited and the website also said they had a tasting menu which is what we really wanted to try. Our waitress who said she only worked there for a week said the website is "way off" from their menu. We had cocktails and they were delicious!
We had the Caesar Salad with crawfish and it was fantastic! Our waitress sort of disappeared after we ordered our entrees and when we finally flagged her down to get water refills she said she forgot to put in our order. From that point forward she was very attentive and she expedited our order and we both had the seared scallops and pork belly. They were cooked to perfection and the smokiness of the bacon paired extremely well. It also went perfectly with the California Chardonnay we ordered. The food more than made up for a bit of a hiccup with service.
They do need to update their web menu as that is pretty misleading when you view that menu to decide if you want to eat there or not.
Great cocktails, really good food, lovely place, excellent service, deserves a lot of customers! We would happily visit again
Limited food menu. Pricy for small portions that were just okay. Ambiance and drinks were the best part if that is what you are looking for.
Service was very good. Recently the menu changes and we did not feel
It was the same quality as before. In addition all of the dishes we extremely salty. Overall not the best food experience. Really the only good dish was the Brussel sprouts .
They used to have the best French fries before but I hey changed that also, these almost seems that were brought frozen.
Brussel sprouts were amazing. The new gnocchi entree was also excellent. We topped this off with a nice happy hour red wine. This is always a great place with great service.
Great food, creative drinks, gorgeous brick building. Friendly service very attentive but not hovering. Will definitely return!
Way too loud. Impossible to hear my companions.
Food overpriced for the quality and quantity.
We had an excellent dinner. The scallops are amazing at Cellar Door. I appreciate the knowledgeable input from our server and the wine choices! We will definitely be back.
Adorable old building. Food and service were lacking. Duck was undercooked. Chardonnay by the glass was not good. Disappointed with quality of food and service.
We chose CellarDoor for Valentine's Day dinner, and while we've been around long enough to know that a restaurant is frequently not at its best on that date..... CellarDoor more than missed the mark. The prix fixe menu (which was wholly unnecessary given the 10 diners there) and service were lousy. It was a damp night, and I attempted to order a coffee while I perused the cocktail menu (which is impressive, btw-- this place is worth checking out if you're not hungry), but the server rudely told me they don't have coffee (??!). Our meal continued on the same downhill track from there on out-- the citrus salad consisted of oversized romaine with a few canned mandarin oranges and a tasteless dressing. The duck entree ate like rubber off the buffet at my grandma's assisted living facility, and the desserts lacked romance and presentation-- choices were banana bread with a smear of vanilla ice cream or beignets- neither was worth finishing.
The restaurant is housed in a beautiful old building, away from the tourist traps, but that's about all it had going for it according to our experience.
I was so excited to eat at the Cellar Door prior to my arrival. The restaurant is beautiful and has a lot of character. Unfortunately, the food does not match the ambiance. My snapper was extremely unseasoned and the sauce that came with it, was very salty. Not only did it lack flavor, the fish was also very rubbery and seemed to be old.
Another ding, was the slow service. We were one of the few people inside of the restuarant, yet our food took forever to arrive.
This place could be wonderful, if it gets a new menu and some better staff.
Service was great but food menu limited. Drinks were good.
This is the only restaurant in NOLA I've ever been to that doesn't serve coffee. It was strange to eat a signature dessert with no coffee on a very cold night. It's quaint but loud, portions are conservative and pricey considering you can get a lot of food for the same price at lots of places.
