Good ambience and service
As a group of six, four of us were disappointed with the food. Because it’s such a great meeting spot in the beautiful park, it became very noisy and those of us over fifty, found it difficult to hear. The overall experience was okay but not great.
Great central brunch and lunch location. Menu could use a change as it’s been the same for a long time.
Can be very hectic and noisy especially at the weekend but they make up for it with really delicious food.
Very friendly, efficient staff. Great food. A good choice. Sitting on the deck for brunch is a really pleasant experience. Relaxed and a great place to meet friends. I would like to particularly commend the staff on their attitude and helpfulness with regard to the dogs. It is so unusual to find a cafe where dogs are truly welcome. Thank you.
Nice food but awful service time and time again. Slow to service your table, no one around when you want to order or pay your bill. Food takes at least 30/40 mins to come so don’t take your toddler. Terrible acoustics so I’d recommend sitting outside if you want to hear each other.
It’s a great location and food is decent but service is a giant let down. I won’t be dining here again after trying multiple times over the last two years.
Great location which is perfect for kids who can run around on the grass. Service was extremely slow, too slow for hungry kids.
Unfortunately service was horrific. We were engaged with by multiple staff and all levels and this was consistent across the board.
On a more positive note it’s a good location with options for outdoor seating and the food was pleasant but really slow.
Would I go again? I wouldn’t recommend it to friends but if I was in Centennial Park and fancied an unplanned bite to eat I would visit again but not an organised lunch with friends. There are much better places in Sydney.
Location, ambience, menu
We hadn't been to the venue in years, but it's obviously been revamped both on terms of the space and the menu. Will be going back much sooner this time!
We really enjoyed the dining experience. I would definitely recommend it to friends and family and will be returning.
Very good portions of food, the staff was really friendly and recommended me good dishes, special the gnnochi, really tasty! I went with my family and from the kids to my mom, everyone was happy with options.
First time my partner met my Aunt. Was brilliant thank you.
We had a thoroughly enjoyable brunch with family. It is such a relaxed cafe but service is friendly and efficient. It is fabulous on the terrace if you have a dog and the animals are really welcomed by the staff. All dogs were well behaved. The food is very tasty with great choice and tasty combinations. Coffee and chai tea excellent. I would recommend this cafe and frequently go there for brunch.
6 different dishes all excellent sadly the service was abysmal not regarding staff behaviour but insufficient staff numbers.
I needed to leave our table to approach staff
To place drink order
To request our food orders be taken
Then to please remove dishes on completion of meal
To request our dessert or coffee orders be taken
Then after requesting bill I needed to find staff member to take cash payment
and restaurant wasn’t even one third full.
Food was great. My husband and I enjoyed the ambience with our toddler son.
Inedible gnocchi and inexperienced wait staff
We got a last minute booking online so we were in a quieter section then normal. It was great though so we enjoyed it better then the other busier section. We were worried about not getting the same service because it was very quiet but there was constant checking in by the staff. It was great!
Beautiful setting. Lovely calm place for lunch. Great menu with good options for everyone. Good value for the wonderful location, lovely clean windows looking out over the park.
Great location, good busy vibe which compliments it well. Little let down with service, for example I had to ask for water, I'm used to being given table water on arrival, enough cuttlery for the booking etc
Excellent spot to catch up with friends over the weekend
Excellent food and venue
Food was excellent - people kept commenting on how they thought it best they had eaten at Homestead. Staff are very friendly and work to ensure your needs are met.
Being in Centennial Park - the setting is beautiful.
Very pleasant lunch - congratulations to the staff and thank you.
They happily organised space for 4 adults, one wheel chair plus double stroller for twins. Music was a bit too loud but lively effect. Babies accommodated. Toilets needed cleaning during he busy time.
Food was great but service left a lot to be desired. Tables dirty and required clearing and floor also pretty messy.
Having said that, the food was great.
Setting, views and food are good, but the service is generally incredibly slow, both on weekdays and weekends .
Great atmosphere on a beautiful day - fitness freaks equally comfortable with the oldies dolled up for nice day out.
My friend and I enjoyed our lunch - thank you
Food was amazing , and setting is lovely especially if the weather is good.
BUT the food took 50 minutes when we were told it would be about 20.
When we complained nothing was done about it and there seemed to be a lack of concern by management about the long wait.
I must say I was disappointed. The service was very average, there appeared to be only one male waiter who was interested in chatting with us or assisting us. It was expensive for the portion size and the food provided. Was noisy so hard to have conversations and the final straw was they don't do spilt bills - You can pay separately for what you ordered which doesn't work with bottles of wine, shared sides etc... overall poor experience and wouldn't recommend to others.
We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch, the food was fabulous and the service exemplary.
I really have to mention the service, the staff were simply fabulous. Everyone was professional yet friendly when the restaurant was clearly very busy. There were quite a few little actions and gestures that made you feel very welcome.
Lovely to sit in the park, breakfast options good, service very ordinary and not up the expectations for this sort of restaurant
We had a lovely brunch and the homestead is a great venue. Unfortunately the service continues to be ad how. We waited over 20 minutes for a second coffee order. They blamed it on a large table but the barista was busy chatting to other staff rather than making the coffees. Luckily we were not in a hurry but I wouldn’t go back if we were time pour or had to be somewhere else by a certain time.
We used to go regularly as we live nearby. We went after a few weeks break as the service levels were disappointing. The female maître' d at Sunday breakfast has no customer focus. Refused to put us at a table we requested as she said it was for 4 people and we were 2. Five minutes later she sat 2 people at the table. We struggle to get attention from the wait staff. They say they are busy - but they are hopelessly understaffed. The food quality has gone down.
Our party's ages ranged from five years to 95 years and the Homestead did a very good job of catering to all of us. Nice food, good selection, plus the advantage of a playground at the doorstep, so the kids could let of steam while we relaxed.
Excellent meal for a special occasion. Will return many more times!
This is my fist time at the restaurant. The restaurant acoustic was poor, admittedly the restaurant was packed with few families due to school holidays. On top of that the live music was played too loud to conduct a conversation.
The service was good can't be said of the food that my wife and I had which was fish and chips. The batter was too greasy and the fish was not not fresh. Overall it was ok.
