   I have been to Chado on a number of occasions and it is usually ok. For Mother’s Day they raised the price from $35 to $65 per person. The tea was lukewarm, sandwiches were mainly bread and stale and the sweets were, I hate to say, supermarket quality. The service was ok but the quality did not match the cost. I would’ve expected better quality or a special menu for the upcharge of mother’s day. We had gone last year and it was $35 pp with a fixed menu for Mother’s day. I wrote an email to the manager and got no response which is why I’m writing this review.

   This Tea Room has got to be the greatest. The teas were superbly, brewed with a beautiful ambience. The scones were to die for. A great place for an outside visit.

   I wouldn’t suggest going to this location. Solely because I’ve gone a couple times and they never have specific items. Even if it’s early in the morning they don’t have certain things. And I do not think it’s worth it going. It’s also pricey for what they give you.

   Blanca was wonderful- warm & friendly. We had a great afternoon tea experience. The lemon chiffon herbal tea is delicious. Scones were tasty but very dry, sandwiches were also tasty. Sweet space connected to the Japanese American Museum.

   My daughter and I always love afternoon tea at the Chado Tea Room by the Japanese American National Museum. It's a very pretty and peaceful setting and overall, the tea and food is very good. I was a bit disappointed this time around because while the rest of the food was good, the scones (which are a crucial part of afternoon tea) were not. Usually they are light, moist and crumbly but this time they were dense, hard and dry. I think maybe the baker kneaded the dough too much or something. Otherwise we enjoyed ourselves and the service was attentive.

   I loved the ambience, the sweet and attentive waitress, the attractive and whimsical display of unique teapots, and most of all the huge wall of every kind of tea imaginable! I did feel the price of the food was a bit high, but where isn't it these days?

   Cute is maybe the best word if you like Porcelain doll decor. On the one hand it feels authentic like a Japanese tea room on the other hand it feels made up just to make money. 3 tier sandwich presentation was nice and the sandwiches themselves were kind of ok. Not quite filling either we went to get some lunch afterwards.

    The server was friendly, the food/tea was good. Really liked the scones. The teapot my tea came in was chipped at two places, thought it was a bit tacky.

    Food was good but the service was poor. Only two ppl working and when it started to rain I asked to sit inside and they told me no, but then accommodated three other tables who asked to move inside. When I conforted her about it she rolled her eyes and said "I'm sorry!!" Not sorry enough!

    Having visited the long-gone Chado on W.3rd Street many times, we hoped to enjoy our afternoon tea at the downtown location. It was a disappointment. There were only two people working. The service was polite but slow. The tables were not set properly. The sandwich bread was a bit stale. The scones were small. The ambiance was not as "charming" as we had hoped. Sadly, we do not recommend Chado downtown.

    I saw an ad for the Chado Tea Room and thought it would be a lovely holiday outing with my daughter and a couple friends. They were out if most menu items, no bread, no chicken, and the scones and cake we ordered were, store bought, stale and when reheated became weapons of war not for tea. There was nobody to explain about the teas the server although nice it was underwhelming to say the least.

    I’ve been to this one and the one in Pasadena. Both times service has been weird. Just make sure you have extra time in your day for a very leisurely tea.

    Lovely quiet high tea midweek for my coworkers and me. Tea selection is impressive. I almost wish they offered a way to order flights to sample!
