Char's Tracy Mansion
Great food and service. Our waiter was great and knowledgeable. The food was cooked to perfection.
We’ve been going to Char’s once or twice a year for quite some time now and hope to continue going even though there were rumors of Ms. Magaro retiring. We love the pate appetizer and it was as good as ever. Drinks were excellent and the pots de creme dessert we had was very good!
Still one of my favorite restaurants.
We had a wonderful time, and it was great to meet Char and get a picture with her!
We had a very enjoyable evening from our cocktails to dessert. The main course meals of veal scallopini and the salmon special were delicious. Our server, Austin, was exceptional. We look forward to our next visit.
Lori was great!
Great food. Excellent wine. And an engaged owner who cares about her customers. What a great place.
Excellent food..the escargot was some of the best I’ve eaten...we arrived right before sunset and the view was amazing.....great live music as well
We had a wonderful dinner here on Saturday night. Everyone was amazing and the food was spectacular! My husband and I will definitely be back.
Easy to find. Food was yummy! Will definitely go back!
Took a walk along the river and was intrigued with this place. Made reservations and came to enjoy the food. I really enjoyed the place from the moment I walked thru the door. Coat Service. Great ambiance. My server, Skylar, was outstanding. The owner even made me and my guest feel special. The food was great as well. I look forward to attending again soon.
Excellent food and service. We had a very enjoyable evening
I choose the restaurant because they have an extensive gluten free menu. My husband said it was "the best restaurant" he'd been to outside of the Atlantis Resort. The service was outstanding. I liked that we could actually hear ourselves speak even though it was full. The building was properly designed to block out noise. We ordered lamb and filet mignon both were cooked to our specifications. Even the parking was well done. I literally have no complaints. I just wished I'd started dining here years ago.
We went to Char's for Valentine's Day and had a great time. The venison meatballs and seared scallops were delicious. Everywhere you looked there was beautiful paintings and sculpture, from abstract to realistic, futurism and cubism. It was a fantastic collection that must have been lovingly curated. The music created a warm ambience for us to have a great conversation. All around this was a very classy, artful, and fun experience.
Great decor, very good live mood music, wonderful Valentine's menu and a very good burgundy on the wine list to complement the dinner
The ambience, service and cuisine made for a wonderful Valentine’s Day. Our appetizers, arugula, beets and goat cheese salad, and seared Ahi tuna were outstanding, and matched by our equally outstanding entrees of short ribs, and beef tenderloin and crab cake. A duo of desserts accompanied by a glass of champagne completed this Prix Fixe menu. A very special dining experience.
The venue was very nice and service was good, but a little slow...especially for the amount of diners at the time. The menu was set, as was the price, for Valentine’s Day and we still got a surprise $94 up charge for the filet...definitely not worth the price.
It was GREAT to sync up with Austin again! We have known him since the 90's and he is still the BEST!
Pre Valentine dinner was a success. First time at Char's and it was a nice experience. Started at the bar for Happy hour with drinks that were perfectly made.
Seated by the front window and enjoyed the view.
Food was good, we both had the specials of the day for risotto and pasta(lasagna )
Enjoyed our meal and desserts of peanut butter pie and Pot d cream (chocolate )
Drinks were amazing. The food needed some freshening up, as both presentation and taste was very 80s....
Excellent place for multitude of occasions.
Food and Service where great. First time there and would return!
The lighting was a little to dim. Couldn't hardly see the menu to order. The waitress could have been a little friendlier. Just got the vibe that she was just putting time in and didn't want to be there.
There was a regular there that was complaining loudly because he didn't get his normal table... Get over yourself. The staff was attending to his whining and ignoring other patrons. The pear and endive salad had wilted brown lettuce and was lacking pears or flavor. The halibut and steak was delicious.
Staff was friendly, service was prompt, food was delicious.
The Char’s Cosmo is delicious. The pear flatbread is out of this world. The scallops were succulent. Our server was outstanding. There’s nothing about our evening that didn’t exceed our expectations. Will visit again and bring our friends.
For all our special occasions we always enjoy our time at Char's. The service and the food are Phenomenal. Numerous times now that we have been here and we are never disappointed.
Service slow. Lamb tough and over seasoned
The food was great and Loren(sp?) our server was attentive and friendly. Can’t wait to go back.
New Years Eve. Very nice. Cold in the Library. Wear pants and a sweater, not a shirt off the shoulder dress!
Went to Char's for New Year's Eve. The meal was outstanding and the service (as always) was fantastic!
Delicious food. The service was second to none. My only complaint, and I know it’s nit picking, is the portion size of main course was really small. It was amazingly delicious though. If in the area again I plan on returning.
All the food was very good to excellent, except the Oysters Rockefeller. The Italian Almond cake was excellent as well as the lamb T-bones. My party liked their food. The facility and service was very good. Overall a quality meal.
As always, the food was exquisite. Our sever was very friendly and knowledgeable. Char went from table to table checking on things. Wonderful dining experience!
Dining at a place like Char’s is a treat for us. Not something that we can afford often. But, this was worth the wait and definitely “treat yourself” worthy.
Given the high prices, we typically come to Char's for a formal night out on the town celebrating events like birthdays, anniversaries, graduations and special accomplishments. In the past, we have enjoyed outstanding food, service and a pleasant atmosphere. However, our visits over the past couple of years have left us scratching our heads wondering why Char has let the overall experience of her high class establishment deteriorate to that of a noisy bar room crowd, permitting obnoxious and loud clients in the dining room and a noticeable lowering of the bar with regards to the quality of the food served. Our service experience continues be excellent. Maybe it's just a sign of the times and the traditional formal night out with your significant other over a 3-4 hour formal dinner experience is a thing of the past and is why we see more Outback Steakhouse-like eating establishments cropping up. For less than half the money spent, I can "enjoy" the noisy, disrespectful clientele and good meal at an Outback or Olive Garden. The icing on the cake for us was the permission of a brass street band, tuba and trumpet included, to "serenade" us during our dinner while they passed the bucket around asking for donations. It will be a long while before we consider returning...hopefully, between now and then Char will restore the dignity to the once truly wonderful establishment she created a decade ago.
We had always enjoyed Char's before for special events. We went there in Dec for our 29th Wedding Anniversary dinner. My $44 filet, ordered medium rare, was raw in the middle. I admit, we should have just sent it back, but we just put up with it. However, Char stopped by our table and asked how the meal was. I figured the owner would want the honest truth, so told her about the raw steak. She asked if we had sent it back, I admitted no, I hadn't. She turned around and left the room, and that's the last we heard of it.
I had also marked on OpenTable that it was a wedding anniversary; it would have been nice to have that acknowledged, but we didn't get that either.
Sorry to say we won't be back. We're looking for another restaurant for special occasions.
I feel bad giving a bad review because I do feel that everyone did their best. The service was great and the energy was awesome. Dessert was amazing. The dinner, salads, and small plates, however, were not good. My partner had her steak taken away after she attempted a few bites. It was so tough she could barely cut it and it was a filet. My fish of the day was barely six ounces and although it was tasty it wasn’t amazing. My salad was the same, truthfully, it was just smoked salmon in a bed of arugula with chopped cucumber and tomatoes. I could do that at home without a struggle. Such a bummer because the mansion is gorgeous and the staff is so kind. Love it there for all of those reasons but I will not return because the food was a huge miss.
Upscale but comfortable dining. Great view of the river. Excellent food and service. Highly recommend.
Our “go-to” place for any occasion! We love Char and her staff. They always get it right, and make us feel at home. It is intimate and elegant...oh yes and the food is good too!
