Chart House Restaurant - Cardiff

The view is lovely, the service is great and the food is excellent! We had a wonderful evening with a group of ten. Great way to celebrate the holiday season!

Service was excellent and staff accommodated our several young children for a birthday dinner on Fri. December 6th.

We were visiting from Temecula and wanted a special night out. My husband had the prime rib; I had the filet Mignon w Blue Cheese on top....we split a salad I ate everything on my plate. Perfect service & food. We will return!

We had such a great family dinner and our server Shawn was awesome. Thank you.

The only issue I had was with the bill. I was over charged and it took a long time to deal with it....

Food was ok, but not amazing. Service was good, but it was Thanksgiving, so I will cut them some slack.

The Chart House is one of our favorite restaurants for special occasions. The food, service and ambiance are always greats. This is the first time I made reservations through Open Table and I was very pleased with it.

Loved the service, food and ambiance! Our drinks were great, the food was served hot and our waitress was amazing, she brought everything in a timely manner. Chart house is one of my favorite places in the world!

Great location... food was not hot, hard to get refills on drinks, took 20 minutes to get first drinks, told the bar was busy. Usually it is much better.

A late lunch at one of our favorite restaurants, but the food under impressed. We have been going to the Cardiff Chart House for 30 years plus and we continue to enjoy the location, view and service. But this time the food disappointed. The lobster salad had to much mayonaise and did not taste fresh; the crab/avocado stack had less crab (we often order this appetizer). Perhaps we encountered the second-string chef team. For the price, do better Chart House!

The location is outstanding, and the staff is very friendly. The food is good, and standard Charthouse quality.

So here we are, 38 years later and I return to the CHART HOUSE. I came here for prom night and took all of these years to come back. What a mistake! I’ve thought about the Chart House hundreds of times as there used to be one in Oceanside harbor but years before Oside was anything but a military town. Now that O’side is a brewery and foodie HOT BED, it’s too bad TCH had to move on but luckily Cardiff is not far!
I took a very beautiful date here to show her she is worthy of the best dining available (& much more) and while the ocean view was nice it was dark but that’s only part of why we came here. To that point- the FOOD WAS INCREDIBLE!!! Lobster bisque, mac nut crusted Mahi and stuffed shrimp were over the top delicious.
My only question is to myself - WHY WHY WHY did I wait so long to come back???
On a final note, romantic?? Well let’s just say that while we were diving into the best chocolate lava cake the couple behind us were causing a slight commotion. When I turned to look, the gentleman was in one knee asking his date to marry him! Of course, she said yes!
Awesome everything at this establishment and I highly recommend it!

It took 2 hrs for us to get our food. Not the server's fault. He was very nice. We ordered 2 lava cakes when we arrived and only received 1. I have always loved Chart House in Cardiff. Not sure I am going to go back.

I would not return to a restaurant that is out of steak and halibut at 6:30. I also think charging $24 for a tableside “fire” drink is extremely misleading. There are a number of restaurants in the area that can easily compete with this type of poor management.

Great food, service and ambiance

definitely see a decline in the lunch service than dinner service. Having our waiter complain to US that our drinks were taking so long because the bartender was chatting was not a highlight of our visit. while the views and location are amazing, Chart House management needs to strengthen the service team and revamp the rather dull lunch menu.

Nice view of the ocean at sunset and to celebrate a birthday!

The view was great as always. Right on the ocean just past sunset. We did the Landry's 3 course special. Great Thai shrimp soup, prime rib with shrimp, a variety of shrimp prepared in different ways, maple panna cotta and pumpkin bread pudding. All were marvelous. Waiter was attentive when needed.

Wonderful service, views and food. We ate here for brunch with my 100 year old mother and felt like royalty!

Halloween menu delicious but usually good service very subpar. Served prime rib and no knife. Very slow ordering and between courses as slow. Wrong bill brought to table!

This place is a must stop Restaurant! Wonderful wine & bourbon selection with a view to match! Excellent service that compliments the exquisite chief! They always know how to prepare fish & meat to perfection! If we could give more than 5 stars to this location we would!

The artichoke appetizer was superb! The grilled mushrooms are an excellent side. We both ordered swordfish that was fine but nothing to boast about. The ambience and the service is over the top fabulous!

Chart House is always one of our favorites and this location did not disappoint. Be sure to catch the sunset from this beautiful spot. Food is amazing too!

We often meet out-of-town friends at this Chart House. We have never been disappointed, nor have they. It's the perfect spot between our house in MV and wherever they are vacationing, conferencing or meeting. Easy for us to drive, easy for them to find without much concern. Always excellent food, and we've been fortunate to have Sean/Shawn (sp?) as our waiter the last 2-3 times. He is tops!!

Can’t say a beach view restaurant with a great menu is average. As a long time patron of more than 50 years of the Chart House, I was very disappointed this location did away with their famous salad bar. Chart House needs to fix this as soon as possible.

I have been visiting this Chart House restaurant since 2001. It has an amazing view, the food is great and the service is impeccable! Wonderful experience!

Service was horribly slow. Food was cold.

Our server, Chris, really made the night. Along with window seating for our celebration, of course. We thoroughly enjoyed the appetizers and the Prime Rib. The crab legs would have been better had the shells been cut so we wouldn't have had to wrestle them so much, but they were delicious. The peanut butter ice cream... OMG. Heaven.
