Chart House Restaurant - Portland
Hot Chocolate Lava Cake
A rich chocolate cake with molten center, made with Godiva liqueur. Served warm, topped with chocolate sauce, Heath bar crunch and vanilla ice cream
grilled with lemon shallot butter, served with seasonal vegetables & coconut ginger rice
Short staffed. Lobster was undercooked in places and tough in others. Wine was not delivered until the meal was delivered.
Overall the food a good. The portion size are alright. I would recommend.
We had a 530pm reservation. We arrived at 525pm and were told if would be a few minutes. At 545 we were still waiting for our party of 2 to be seated and watched several parties of 2 and 4 that arrived after us be seated. We where told to wait some more. Two more couples came in and were seated so at 550pm I asked what was going on and magically they had a table for us. We were told it was a "new girl" and they were short a server. Food was amazing and our waitress was outstanding. Front of the house failed.
Absolutely perfect. We had a corner view surrounded by windows on both sides. Food and drinks were amazing.
Outstanding service, beautiful Mt Hood view, quiet and relaxing ambience, reasonably priced food. We'll be back!
Everything was amazing!! The food is always great and our waiter, John, was the best we’ve had. He was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and made a phenomenal old fashion. This is our go-to for special occasions and we’ll be back soon!
Great views, dinner was excellent, but service was slower than usual due to some large parties in the restaurant.
Great food. Great ambience. A view to die for and excellent cocktails. Server did a great job looking after us.
The server was less than pleasant. Distant and unsettling.
The Chicken Paneed was overcooked and stringy. Potatoes were cold as was the "two" stalks of asparagus, cold, stringy, and tasteless! And " two" cherry tomatoes, again lacking flavor.
Over all impression, Bad!!
Birthday celebration. Fan for open cooking area is noisy
gorgeous view. restaurant did get busy as it got later in the evening. Just says how loved it is/
Great service and delicious food, most definitely come back for dinner.
Always a great meal, fabulous view and attentive staff. Kyle was wonderful.
Great atmosphere to bring family and friends. The view was beautiful and they have an awesome totem pole!
Food, service and atmosphere are always wonderful!
Anthony was excellent and made our evening even more enjoyable
The food was excellent as always and the ambience great. A little busier than usual but with the holidays that is expected.
It has become one of our favorite restaurants to visit.
As always one of my favorite restaurants. Service, food, service always outstanding!
Wonderful ambiance. Great Service and great food!!
What a special place to take my nephew and his wife for Thanksgiving for helping me with my move to Portland!
We went for Thanksgiving dinner with preset menu. The restaurant was crazy busy but we were not rushed out. We had plenty of time to enjoy the ambiance and espetacular view! Food was great and nice selection of wine. Definitely recommended!!
Wonderful Thanksgiving great service and delicious food!!
We’ll be back!!
We were sat downstairs which had a really nice view but it was freezing and smelled of smoke because the emergency exit was propped open. Clearly employees were going out the door to smoke. The server forgot our appetizer only checked on us once. Didn’t refill any water. Our food was mediocre some of it was not very warm at all. One server left for the evening and said very loudly make lots of money to her fellow servers which was very tacky. For an upscale restaurant it left a lot to be desired. We spent over $200 dollars on dinner and really didn’t have a great experience. I understand it’s Thanksgiving and no one wants to be there but at least play the part like you do.
We waited for our food for almost an hour. It was cold when they brought it. We mentioned it to the waitress, she took it back and heated it up and brought back the same food now dried out with cold areas. The turkey was so dry you couldn't swallow it.
This was our first big dining experience since the pandemic started plus it was Thanksgiving so it was doubly special. We had a delicious traditional meal, a table with a fantastic view of Portland and an extraordinary server named Allison. Our experience was exceptional.
We were tossed to different waiters and our order got messed up. It was crowded tables where people with walkers were challenged of getting out of their table area.
the traditional Turkey dinner was a bit bland and dry. Could have had a better choice for a vegetable. Soup and dessert were excellent.
We sat by the windows looking over the Willamette River. The staff and customer service were excellent. The food and courses were great. We got our salad first. The next was the main course and then dessert. Kyle was our waiter, and he was there when we needed him, but he didn't hover over us. Bravo Chart House, we had the perfect Thanksgiving meal.
My wife enjoyed the prime rib but said the mashed potatoes could have been "fluffier". High marks for the chopped salad. Clam chowder was the best I've had in a restaurant anywhere. Turkey dinner was, at best, pedestrian. The sweet potato (really a yam) could have been out of the skin as in previous years. The turkey was dry and tasteless. The creamed spinach was also tasteless. Dressing was good. Overall, I could have had a better dinner at a Shari's for much less money. Also the drinks were unreasonably expensive.
In all the years I've eaten lunches and dinners at the Chart House, this is the first bad experience I've had.
This was the worst lunchtime, we ever had . Our waiter did not bring us anything that we asked for. No water, crackers, ketchup, another knife to cut a sandwich with. My friend wanted another cocktail, never got that. I spoke to the manager, after trying to find her for 15 minutes. All she said was I’ll speak to him. Nothing off the bill. It was not a great experience and we won’t be going back at all
First visit and will definitely be back
John, or server, mentioned there were over 900 people on the list to be served. That alone is an accomplishment. We had a wonderful meal with outstanding service. Thanks to everyone.
We managed to get a window seat and had a great view of downtown Portland, Mt St Helens, Mt Hood, and the Willamette River. The wait staff were friendly, fast, and efficient. We were there for Thanksgiving Day and the place was packed and a bit noisy, but we've been there at other times when it's not too bad. For Thanksgiving, the price was a little steep, but the regular prices aren't too bad. The food was good - a 3-course meal. The menu had some creative options. I had a kale and roasted sweet potato salad. My husband and mom got Caesar salads and thoroughly enjoyed them. My mother got the crispy shrimp and it came in a thin rice shell with a pyramid of sticky rice. My husband and I got the traditional turkey dinner and it came with a choice of mashed potatoes or sweet potato. The turkey was a bit too dry for my liking and I'm not sure I would want corn bread stuffing again. It was good, but it would have been nice if they had offered a vegan or vegetarian option too. Mom got a champagne cocktail which has been her favorite every time she has been to the Chart House. For dessert, we each had a different kind of pie: pecan, pumpkin, and cheesecake. There was a dribble of whipped cream about the size of a quarter on the side of the pecan and pumpkin pies, but the pies themselves were good. The food was plentiful and we all needed a box before we left. The valet service was great; all those cars packed into the parking lot and yet there was not a scratch on our car! I would definitely recommend the Chart House at any time other than a holiday.
Best service, outstanding view, best stakes in Portland.
We ordered the deserts for to go and the waiter forgot to get them. When called to inform the manager, she asked what I wanted to do about it?
She didn’t offer a solution but insisted I tell her what I wanted.
Unprofessional from top down.
This was our first Thanksgiving away from the house and the service and good was excellent. I do believe we have started a new tradition.
Just a beautiful view on our first Thanksgiving dining out. Good service, food, but the view is the highlight!
Would have been nice to include a green vegetable as a side without having to order, and pay, separately. My filet mignonette was excellent. My husband’s prime rib was good, though somewhat fatty. Very good service.
Place almost empty and despite having reservations was directed to table with poor view and isolated. Had asked for window view and told not available. Complained to waiter and she was able to move us to table with great view as there were eight similar tables open. Very disappointed with hostess
