Chez Billy Sud
Great gem of a French bistro in the middle of Georgetown. Ambiance, service, and feed were amazing. Can't say enough and can't wait to return.
Need better chairs. They are exceptionally uncomfortable.
I love Chez Billy Sud— authentically a small French bistro (without the noise and drama if Le Diplomate (which I also frequent). The bridge reconstruction on 31st Street makes access a challenge but a determined lover of la bonne chance will make the effort!
Perfect upscale lunch.
The food is so good it gave me goosebumps. This is now my new favorite restaurant. I’ll be going back any chance I can get. To top it off, service was fantastic.
Hands down our favorite meal in DC so far! Loved everything about this place. Our server was attentive and very helpful. If you’re looking for a non pretentious, quaint place with tasty food this is it
It was wonderful. The food, the ambiance, out server Mack, my incredible fiancé! Have the chicken liver spread and the trout! It was all delicious but these two I highly recommend! Cannot wait to return to Georgetown to eat here again! And go early and have a cocktail in the gorgeous old bar connected to the terrace. You will feel like you’ve been transported to another time and place.
Chez Billy Sud is the perfect hideaway for an intimate, well-prepared lunch or dinner. Like any great French bistro, its mission is to please rather than astonish. Nothing is done for effect or fashion; it's simply flawless, flavorful French cuisine served with warmth in an enjoyable setting. Trends and new hotspots come and go, but this is the kind of cooking that will always endure, because the focus is on simple excellence and hospitality. Do yourself a favor and order the chicken liver paté; you'll thank me.
Went there for brunch. One of the appetizer arrived as the others were finishing theirs. Made sure to say that we are celebrating a special birthday and yet there was no effort whatsoever to acknowledge the fact not even a complimentary small dessert. When I brought that to the attention of our server as we asked for the bill, he said but no one wanted dessert! I was hoping that they would be more proactive about it especially that I stressed the reason of our brunch when they called to confirm. Food was Good but nothing spectacular.
Among the most lovely places to have brunch in DC. The food is good, the service attentive but not intrusive, and conversation is possible!
I’ve eaten both lunch and dinner there several times and enjoyed for the most part. This was the second time I’ve ordered the Steak Frites and will not ordered again. Both times over cooked. Ordered medium rare and arrived medium-well. Presentation was unattractive. Just a hunk of beef on the plate. Fries were delicious. Cuddos for taking my meal off the bill. My pate was very good and all three of my guests enjoyed their meals. My husband ordered the same dinner as I did and said it was just okay. Have had better in other restaurants. This is such a charming place and I would recommend...just skip the steak frites.
The courtyard was especially nice.
Chez Billy Sud is one of my favorite spots in Georgetown. Its super charming and has fantastic food, ambiance, service, and outdoor seating. Definitely worth more than one visit!
Chez Billy Sud is always a fun experience. Great food and good service at a prime spot in Georgetown. Weather permitting, try to get a table in the garden area :)
Our server was excellent. The food was delicious
Wonderful birthday dinner!
The room and building are lovely and make for a very nice ambiance but the service was less than expected.
Exactly what we were looking for as a celebration dinner for a friend. Pricier than we'd usually go but the quality was top notch and we left feeling full. The seafood is the standout. Cocktails were nice spins on the classics. I will say the escargot is less snails than you expect and mostly mushrooms so keep that in mind before ordering.
Lovely and elegant, food was excellent and service friendly
Will be sure to go back next time my travels take me to Georgetown
The experience was bizarre, to say the least. Great French food but we waited for an hour to even get served beyond the initial drink. They said they didn't want to interrupt our conversation. Then when we finally ordered, we ordered an appetizer and main courses. But they only served the appetizers and after another agonizing hour, we finally asked where our main dishes were. The waiter said he had not yet placed the order since we were still working on the appetizer. So 3.5 hours later, we finally finished our meal. WTF?
I had a wonderful Sunday birthday brunch with my family. The food is exceptional as is the very friendly and accommodating staff. We will definitely return to this outstanding restaurant.
Delightful brunch on the patio!
Take me back to France! This place is on point in all things French ambience and cuisine. The foie mousse was my absolute favorite. Excellent wine!
Loved Chez Billy - it’s my favorite restaurant in DC
Always an absolute delight to dine at Chez Billy Sud. It is my go-to restaurant for all occasions. The best French food I've had and may even be better than some restaurants in France.
One of our favorites!
Usually great, but today food and service was terrible
Excellent food and outstanding service. Wines were perfect.
Nice time for wife's birthday. Food excellent (partial to the country pate, but trout was great too) and very personable waitress. A great experience as usual (we have been several times before).
Great food, great ambience, great service!
The atmosphere of the restaurant is warm and inviting and and the location itself is ideally situated in Georgetown. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed in the food. The bread served at the table was stale and unremarkable for a French restaurant. I ordered the steak frites medium for my entree. The order came with a cold purple center. I sent it back, requesting a cool pink center, but sadly the steak returned as well done as a hockey puck. The waiter blamed this on “kitchen communication issues.” At least the cocktails are good, but not good enough for me to return.
Food and service was great 👍
Always enjoy our date nights at Chez Billy Sud; usually for an anniversary or something special. The food is ALWAYS delicious and the service great! The interior is open but fancy; like a laid- back Ladure. Looking forward to our next visit!
This restaurant is a wonderful gem. We love the ambiance, and the service is always wonderful.
This time, the confit du canard was a bit too salty, even for me who loves salt. On the plus side, the waiter surprised my husband and me with a complementary glass of champagne for our 33rd wedding anniversary celebration. We couldn't think of a better way to celebrate than eating here.
Loved Chez Billy Sud. The food was next level delicious & the service was equally excellent. We will definitely go back next time we’re in Georgetown.
Excellent. Light and airy atmosphere. Worth the visit.
We had a nice evening at Chez Billy. Our waiter was helpful and the service was good. However we were both slightly disappointed with our food choices and felt it fell below the expectations we had of this restaurant. We chose to sit outside in the lovely courtyard which was pleasant although there was a high level of plane/roadwork noise which was intrusive. Overall we would recommend Chez Billy although during our short stay in the city we ate at a couple of other well known restaurants, both of which we preferred.
Wonderful experience as always. The food is always perfection, but what really takes this place over the top is the service. Our server was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and did an outstanding job.
Chez Billy Sud is clearly a neighborhood gem for Georgetown -- and so very well worth the effort of traveling into the city to share a meal with friends or loved ones, or ones' self, if alone. The charm of the place must be inherent to the bricks and mortar and woodwork. As long-time Georgetown residents and denizens, we've enjoyed Billy Sud's location since it was the renowned Cafe la Ruche for several decades. The spirit of the place lives on, with an outstanding menu, exciting wine list, wonderfully prepared meals, and, perhaps best of all, extraordinary service. We were celebrating my birthday (in a low-key way), and our server Adam brought wit, warmth, and fine recommendations to our dining experience. Whether for lunch or dinner, Chez Billy Sud is an ideal spot in an ideal location (current C&O Canal restoration efforts notwithstanding).
My favorite restaurant! Agi is the best! Private, good for an intimate dinner, unseen and private. You will love it!
