   The restaurant feels pretty worn, which felt depressing, so we ate outside. The service was fine, although our server was underage and said because of that he knew nothing about the wines. If your a server you learn about the wines regardless. If it were an adult of age who didn’t drink that wouldn’t be an excuse. My husband got the cassoulet and the pork was very fatty and the duck was over cooked. I got a sale with chicken, which was pretty good. The kicker though, a salad, the cassoulet and 2 glasses of wine…just over $100! So given the whole experience and mediocre food, not a good value. Too many places to go for me to go back.

   This as close to a real French Bistro as you can find in Cincinnati. No attempt to dummy down the concept with non-French dishes except perhaps for a Charcuterie Board that is the value of year. If you want a great cassoulet or perfectly cooked duck or any of a number excellent dishes that are value priced, this is the place to go. The atmosphere is pleasant and cozy, nothing fancy but comfy. Service from Sam and two assistants was everything one would hope for from family owned restaurant. The wine list is a bit eccentric with only region and varietal listed in most cases, but they do offer tastes of a couple of wines at no cost. All around a nice Bistro. experience. Did I say they even have white tablecloths?

   Chez Renee is a wonderful, casual, un-intimidating French restaurant! The food is excellent, and the staff are friendly. Even if you live on the west side of Cincinnati, it is worth the drive, and easy to find. Also, Old Milford is a gem on its own.

    Nice wine menu as would be expected from a French restaurant. They had a nice array of appetizers and we went with the baked brie. The toasted baguette slices they served were simply perfect. One of my kids had a burger that looked delicious and I think they agreed - it was nearly gone in record time. My other daughter had a cheese "croque" which is essentially grilled cheese, but nonetheless looked incredible. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her risotto, and I tried a little but not enough to make a judgement on it. My bleu salad was fine and as described. I really liked my mussels and frites. The broth was good. I ordered "spicy" although to me it was not. It was certainly zesty and flavorful. I sopped some up with more baguette. I wish someone would have been open to dessert, but all were full.

    I had been here with my son 5 or so years ago for lunch and have been trying to get my wife to try it since then. Not sure what took us so long but we're glad we went back for dinner. My wife had a desire for salmon and I had planned on trying the cassoulet or raclette, but when I heard the special was beef bourguignon poutine I knew what I was having. It was really tender, savory and the frites were perfect. We decided to have some crepes for dessert and they did not disappoint. The seating is a bit close but we found we easily struck up conversations with our neighbors

    Excellent food, quaint setting, horrible service! It is a shame that a restaurant with first-rate food has such horrible service. I should have read the reviews before going as there are many 1- and 2-star reviews over several review platforms detailing the appalling service and lack of customer care from the management/owner. These low reviews span over 4 years, so clearly not a function of the recent pandemic worker shortage. My personal experience in 2023 is that the attitude of the owner/manager hasn’t changed over the years. (See Yelp or Tripadvisor for my full review since I am limited by 2000 characters). WAIT TIME- The wait at the table for service was interminably long- about 35 minutes. Note that the dining room was a small space with 6 or 7 tables, half 4-tops, half 2-tops and 3 servers buzzing around. Despite the fact that the tables are about 8 inches apart (don’t come here to share secrets with your group!), none of these servers stopped by.....read YELP DISCUSSION WITH MANAGEMENT- I shared all of the issues so far with the Owner, Cathy. She apologized and said she would take care of our meal. This is where a problem of semantics or cultural differences arose. Note that Cathy is a native French speaker. In most restaurants, when the owner or maître de says that they “will take care of your meal” that means that they will comp the bill for the bad service and issues. Going by her words, we left a generous tip for the server, despite the issues, and left fully believing that our meal was comped based on what she said. Imagine my surprise when she called several hours later (near 11pm) to demand that I return to pay my bill. Clearly this was a monumental misunderstanding. She claimed that comping our bill was not what she meant, but that is what she said. Seeing that there was a clear language comprehension barrier, I told her I would be glad to pay the bill over the phone with her. We completed the transaction to her satisfaction.

    This was our second time here. The first time we came (probably a year or so ago) the food was tasty, the service was perfect, and it had a nice atmosphere. I’m not sure what happened, whether they are struggling hiring the right talent or a change in the chef, but the food was not as we remembered and the service was mediocre. We came here for my twins 18th birthday. We were so disappointed that I feel like I need to do B-day dinner all over again at a different restaurant.

    Thank you we enjoyed our dinner very much- the food was yummy - chicken cordon blue with frites and boeuf bourguignon . Service was very nice also. If I could make one suggestion it would be the comfort of the banquette where we sat - it is too deep to sit comfortably- Much thicker pillows might help - even for my husband it was too deep! It won’t stop us from coming back but we will be specific for which table

    This is our second time visiting Chez Renée. Both times have been excellent. The food is magnificent and the service is exceptional. Two standouts to me are their duck and their mushroom soup. The soup is a side, but could be a meal itself. It comes with a huge puff pastry on top and is truly unique.

    Our waitress Audrey was lovely. Everything we ordered was delicious from the Kir Royals to the dessert crepes. The appetizers were perfect amounts and well prepared. We had the Beef BOurg., the chicken crispy and the salmon. Everyone loved their meal. We felt compelled to have dessert. Have been here before but has forgotten how wonderful it is.

    I ordered the salmon burger. It wasn’t a “burger,” but a piece (nice size however) of dry salmon on a bun. The flavor was lacking. The list of sides one can order include fries and others. The salmon burger comes with fries. I asked to substitute broccoli. The answer was “we can’t substitute.” How difficult is it to swap fries for a veggie; restaurants all over allow this?! Wines are pricey! Ambiance is cute. The plates the other people in our group ordered looked basic and uninteresting. There are a lot of great reviews, so try it for yourself.

    We have been to this lovely establishment before and have enjoyed our times there. The service was great, the fellow diners not loud and the selections wonderful. Our party of four each had something different and two of the four meals were lacking unlike before. Common meals, not specials but just not up to the normal flavorful tasting that we’ve had in prior visits. It certainly will not stop us from returning as sometimes there can be an off night for anyone or any “dish”. We love the French flair and the standbys we always enjoy for tasty desserts.     I had high hopes for this place. First time we had been there and the went due to the high reviews. No one was at the door to seat us. I think they are short staffed (we only saw 2 waiters for 2 dining rooms that were both nearly full). We had made a reservation and were eventually seated. The tables are very close together; as in I could reach out and touch the people next to us easily without stretching. No privacy in your table conversation. I can get past all this. I was here for the food, which was unimpressive and bland. I ordered the chicken cordon bleu, which I’ve had many times at other fine dining restaurants. Their version is fried and HUGE. As in a giant full size breast that is not pounded thin and stuffed with barely any cheese or ham. It did not taste good. My spouse’s dish was a little better but nothing that justified $100 bill before gratuity. Would not recommend and will not return.

    The restaurant needs To figure out a way to Let the staff Know a customer is there without a bell ringing every 5 seconds through the entire restaurant. My meal tasted like it had been sitting out all day: the beef was so dry it practically got stuck in my throat, my potatoes had no flavor and my cocktail was very weak.     Have been multiple times in past, but this latest trip left us wanting more. Service was very slow and the food was not the normal quality. Whole family had upset stomach when leaving. Still like the small business, but the lack of professional clothing by wait staff and sour stomachs when leaving will make me reconsider booking in the future.     Food was super salty, raclette was poorly done , couple Of potatoes with a cheese sauce on top and whatever charcuterie, mussel sauce was watery and cassoulet felt like It was done with canned beans and plain sausage. Pumpkin soup was nothing special, onion soup good. This was not a great experience
