Chi Modern Vietnamese Kitchen
Every foods were delicious but little salty. Portion is small and some menus are over priced.
Food overpriced. Service was disappointing. Lot’s of pressure to order what the owner thought was best for us. Loud music. Will not go back. 😞
I gave this restaurant such a low eating because I never got to eat there! We made a reservation and turned up at the restaurant, but it was closed - no sign of why it was closed. We were allowed to make a reservation and we double/triple checked online that it should be open. Went out of our way to go there and given no reason/explanation as to why it was closed. Disappointed
This was my thirst time at Chi. The food is outstanding and every time I come, I experience another delectable food. I encouraged everyone to try this restaurant.
excellent, delicious food with great service. everything was good.
Food quality is good to very good but the portion sizes are small for the cos
Creative delicious food. Good service. Pleasant ambience
We were there for Valentine's day and the service was really slow and not very attentive. We had to ask for water and cutlery and the food was cold.
Always a great experience! Chef/Owner recognized me and always has something interesting to talk about!
Food was delicious and authentic. Service was attentive and efficient. Decor was beautiful. Price point is a bit expensive; however you are paying for quality ingredients. I would say this is a great place to save for a special dining experience.
First dinner at Chi, for Dine Out Vancouver Festival menu $35. Excellent food. Group of 4 sharing dishes. fantastic 3 course meal- Rolls and Chickpea Cauliflower Curry were highlights. That said, shameless up-selling of appetizers, mains and desserts on the fixed menu on the night we were there. $10 here, $5 there. The principle of the matter makes me less enthusiastic about visiting again.
We discovered this restaurant during dine out, and it was a fabulous experience eating there!!The food was beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious, and the service was excellent!! The chocolate mousse with coconut milk was absolutely amazing, and we will definitely return here again and again!!! Highly recommended!!
The food wasn't as good as what I've had from their regular menu. Several of the dishes were too intense to taste the subtle flavors that were hidden.
Incredible food!!! Flavors and textures were on point! I particularly loved the crispy spring rolls and pork belly dish. Yummm!!!
Amazing food with an outstanding service! Highly recommend.
We had a wonderful dinner here and we will go back again soon. Thank you
This is our 4th time at Chi. We keep going back in spite of the poor service but this truly will be our last time. We had a reservation but they kept us waiting for 15-20 minutes without even acknowledging us when we walked in. They had a set menu for Dine Out at $35 but there were extra charges for three quarters of the dishes. Just adjust the overall cost rather than adding extra to everything! They supposedly had a full bar but couldn’t make most simple cocktails bc they didn’t have vermouth. The sever was snobby and when we finally talked to the owner to tell her that we do love the food but dislike the service and were confused about all the surcharges, including for rice we didn’t order, she complained about how hard it is to find good staff and then forgot all about our dessert order. We gave her a chance to salvage our opinion of her restaurant in that moment and were really hoping she would...The food is good but not worth the bad service.
Modern Vietnamese. Elegant room, unique menu. Maybe not what you have had before for Vietnamese. This is a step up. We tried a variety of dishes: salad rolls, squash curry, sablefish, beef with watercress. All fresh and veg forward. Nothing heavy or deep fried here. You walk out feeling good. Cocktails are delicious, full of fresh herbs and chiles...
Chef came out to greet her guests, such a welcoming host.
We enjoyed the food, good variety and tasty.
Lots of vegetarian options.
Will definitely come back again. Relaxing ambience and good food....Chi, the owner, is super welcoming. Love this place.
My friend and I found this restaurant after walking around west 4th and I'm happy we picked this restaurant. Everything was delicious, especially the Tumeric Sablefish bowl. The drink called "what the pho" was very flavourful and I'm not the type to drink cocktails but the server recommended it and now I love the drink.
The servers were all very friendly. The food was better than the Vietnamese food I've tried before and they have different dishes that are Vietnamese but lesser-known.
Love the food. The shaken beef was delicious and so were the duck rolls. They have a wide selection of drinks, unlike many other Vietnamese restaurants. I think this place would be good for a date night or a family meal. Would definitely recommend to my friends and family
The food ingredient quality is better than avg Vietnamese restaurants for sure but the pricing kinda tells that. However i wouldn’t say it really levitates the taste of the dishes. Plus im really not happy seeing wrong openning hrs on yelp n website which are both diff from google.
Poor service. Waitress doesn’t apologize for misunderstanding that we grabbed a table without an escort. We’re not stupid, lady.
Lemongrass chicken was not fully cooked and salty.
Owner and 1 server for a full house evening service. We had to wait unacceptable times for water, condiments, our cheque. Food was overpriced and lacking care and attention to detail.
My wife and I went there for the first time. We had the best spring roll ever. The crispy duck roll was cleverly wrapped in a soft rice paper. Not only it adds to the texture of the already flavourful roll, it prevents the crunchy roll from crumbling all over. We also had the wagyu beef carpaccio, shaken beef and lemongrass chicken. All fresh and yummy. Waitress was very friendly. Had a chat with the owner and she is very warm and friendly.
We ordered the shaken beef, black cod with noodles and duck spring rolls. The food is quite good but I am not sure if it’s worth the price.
I think the service is where it really miss the mark. There were only three tables including us. And one of them from what I see has already finished their meal and were just chatting and drinking. But the service was still slow. The servers wasn’t attentive, didn’t ask us how the food was, we have to get their attention to get more water, order drinks, and getting our bills.
I really expect more for the price I paid.
Friendly service. Very good food. Summer rolls had a surprising crunch. Papaya salad was refreshing. Shaken beef house special outstanding. Best value in Vancouver, so far.
Our first visit and the main issue was insufficient staff to greet, seat and serve the tables. There were only two women out front and the house was full. They were overwhelmed. Food was standard Vietnamese. The grilled eggplant appetizer was especially good.
We were very disappointed in our trip to Chi. We love Vietnamese cuisine and were looking forward to a taste experience. What greeted us was flavorless food and bad service. We spent over 80 dollars on lunch and were not impressed with any of the food. If that was Wagu beef in the dish I think you paid too much for the product. We will not return and will not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Food beautifully executed. We had the duck spring roll which were superb. Also had the eggplant, the turmeric sable fish (to die for) and the filet mignon cut in pieces which was so tender and succulent and melted in your mouth that was cooked with watercress (don’t know what was on the sauce but was good) and had the Mango lemonade which was so refreshing. I like that owner/chef took the time to talk to her guests about the food. Good touch!!!
The one and only fine dining Vietnamese restaurant in Vancouver! A little secret in the heart of Kitsilano!
Excellent tasty food. My favorites were the duck rolls, shaken beef, pork belly and sablefish. The interior was very beautiful and our server, Nicki, was very attentive. She recommended the aforementioned dishes. A wonderful experience.
An elevated Vietnamese experience with elegant flavours, new twists, and an emphasis on local ingredients. This is not your "green linoleum and plastic table cloths" variety of Vietnamese restaurant, so come here to be impressed with how regal this cuisine can be!
The food at Chi is always outstanding. This is the 5th time I am there. The chef never fails to surprise me with new flavours. This is different from other Vietnamese restaurants I visited before. The food is more refined. Highly recommend it to anyone who wants to try new cuisines.
We had the duck salad rolls, sablefish crab pot, and tamarind prawns. Food was good but nothing special - a little too greasy for us. Service was attentive and the place was clean.
The cuisine was a huge cut above the norm....it had a unique flare, taste and wonderful artistic presentation to it. The servicngs were slightly small but if for two persons, 3 to 4 entrees work nicely. The grace and attetnion of the staff was excellent.
Wonderful meal. Great summer night dining with the open door. Terrific service.
appetizers were all pretty amazing
Typical dish like the regular pho fell short but I guess it’s not what you’d go to this restaurant for
