Very good service fair price easy to book I would recommend to anyone who like asian fusion style food

Went here for NYE set-menu dinner. Food was great - a true banquet, awesome variety and plenty of it. Staff were great too.

Poor service and attitude from the bartender when asked questions about the menu. He said he “didn’t know because he’s behind the bar” when asked about the specials and then ignored us. The food was good but unfortunately would not return for that kind of service.

Honestly one of the best meals we have ever had. I got our booking mixed up and we showed up an hour late. The staff were really lovely about it and they sat us right away. The food was amazing. The restaurant itself was really cool and such a great location. We will definitely be back!

Food was fantastic, the service was very disappointing!

I came with 3 friends and everything we ordered was delicious. Originally booked outside but asked if we could come inside. Wasn’t a problem. Waitress was very friendly

I enjoy going here and the food, service and general ambience are ok. However I really have a problem with large posters of Mao. he was responsible for the deaths of millions of people and to glorify him in any way seems offensive. even if its art its like having psoters of Hitler everywhere. Not at all cool.

I rarely eat Chinese as I am so picky but this was amazing! Will definitely return again

Upon making a reservation, we were asked if we wanted standard, hi top or outdoor seating. I marked standard as my companion recently had surgery and couldn't sit in a hi top. It was raining outside so there was no outdoor seating anyway. On arrival, I gave our details to a young lady at the door who immediately said we can sit "there". That was right inside the door (drafty every time the door opened) and at a hi top. I explained that we had a reservation & the seating request was made for a standard seat. She said there was nothing available although there were clearly booths available. I asked her what the point was in asking us for our seating option online was if they were not going to honour it. Then she checked our reservation. She was so incredibly sourly to the point of being rude and after she checked our reservations, then told us we could sit in a booth. She then came over 2 minutes later and asked us what we wanted to drink - with attitude! My companion was so unimpressed by her too. The other waitresses were ok but she really put a damper on the evening with her attitude. I would not bother to go back there despite the food being delicious. There are other restaurants around whose service is much better, the customer is appreciated and the food just as nice. Sorry China Diner but you have lost us!

The portions are all small (starters & mains are no different in size) & the quality of the lamb was substandard at best!

The food is outstanding , I went there with my date for dinner. The staff really taking care of us , we had the Kung pao Chicken , it’s so delicious ...

Terrific food and lots of vegan options. Ambience is so-so, but you're there for the food. Mushroom and eggplant stir-fry delish. Best spring rolls I think I've ever tasted. Will be back

Loved the food. Great atmosphere. Cocktails were okay. Service could have been a bit better. Otherwise, would recommend!

Overall it was a nice evening out. The staff rubbed off as a little stressed.
The dumplings were overcooked, really mushy which was disappointing.
The rest of our meals were enjoyable and the cocktails were fantastic!
I wont be racing back, though will visit again in hope of a better experience.
The wine list needs improving if you want your guests spending more money, not a great selection for the 150% mark up prices.

Good meal, pleasant all round

Food is good, but overpriced.
Service is very hit and miss, I went twice last week and both times I was disappointed with the service. Waited 10 mins for menus, 20 mins for tap water and both times it wasn’t that full.
Price wise $230 for a simple main and a starter for 3 plus a couple of drinks seemed excessive. We’ve eaten in much more upmarket restaurants and gotten much better value. But the food is delicious.

Great service, ambience and food! Definitely recommend.

First time to China Diner and we had a great time. Fantastic food & drinks in a lovely intimate setting.

There were many take always so we only managed to order once we have been there for approx 30 minutes. Our food arrived about one hour later. Something like xiow long bao which din tai fung have perfected, was thick party, stuck to the basket and bland! The dumplings bland. The crispy chicken bland. The duck pancakes sliced like bread - no crispy skin...
We won’t be coming back sadly as we had heard raving reviews. Perhaps the chef was having an off night - who knows! And $80 per person .... not worth the value at all. Thanks

Everything was very good, except the service. Staff did not attend to us, we had to ask for menu, ice, to order, cutlery.
So i wont be going again.

We love China Diner and have been ordering takeaway whilst it’s been shut to dine in. The food was, as always, excellent but the overall experience was let down by the service. There were plenty of waitstaff but they were I attentive and we often had to work hard to get their attention. I assume it was because they were new. Still love this place!

My previous two experiences at the Bondi branch were really great. I found the food at Double Bay a bit lacking in flavour. Not worth the price tags. Simply forgettable.

Beautiful quality food. Will definitely eat here again.

Not the most relaxing experience. Service was poor as staff were so busy dealing with the queue of drivers that were waiting ages for their deliveries.
