What a great restaurant. Each plate is masterfully thought out and put together with each plate consisting of contrasting flavours yet still somehow combining to a delicious dish. The service is friendly and very knowledgeable of the menu and wine list. We will definitely be back again.
Food was delicious, staff were extremely attentive, reasonably priced and seemed to suit any occasion and a multitude of people
Excellent service and attn. to detail, a very good evening, busy but still private
China lane delivers modern Asian flavors with impeccable service. It can be noisy and is a tad pricey but makes up for this on quality. Go to dishes are the duck pancakes and John Dory in coconut sambal. The menu changes reasonably regularly though classics are an ever present. Other noteworthy dishes are the pork on bao, saikou salmon and for lovers of crustaceans the balmain bugs (served in the shell). Cocktails are also good with a variety of house concoctions and staples such as a very good negroni.
Food was tasty, lamb main very tender and delicious. Loud and busy showing it’s popularity. Service was pretty good.
Fantastic food and really unique flavors. We went with our 2 boys, 8 and 11. Not made for kids as it’s quite trendy (and a little loud) but nevertheless they loved the fried rice and steak. My wife and I really appreciated each of the 4 dishes we sampled as each had its own unique characteristics. We were only visiting, and it’s worth a trip out of the way. If we had the opportunity we’d definitely go back to try more.
Loved China Lane, food was amazing, staff were super helpful and the location is lovely.
We loved our evening we have been there before the staff were great the food delicious our grandchildren loved it
Polite friendly service. Great recommendations of dishes. Lovely food. And what a great location. Will definitely be back.
A very convenient restaurant for dining before a show at the Concert Hall. Lovely food in a nice restaurant
A lovely restaurant with great service, drinks menu and the food was delicious!
We had a banquet menu and the food was excellent. One criticism I would make is that for lunch there were too many main courses. Next time I would order from the menu
China Lane is consistently one of my very favourite restaurants in Sydney. The food is amazing, the staff are attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere is convivial. Thank you.
China Lane always delivers. Ideal pre-Angel Place concerts as the staff are so considerate. Food is prompt and we were even given a polite reminder to get to the concert hall in time!
tried to book again for this Thursday 530 for 2 pre theatre
your website said that the restaurant is closed
Great food ,delicious and well presented, however the alcohol 🍷 is very very expensive, enjoy the food but just drink water
Absolutely premium place to dine. Food and service was exceptional, while the atmosphere far outstripped expectations. The John Dory was perhaps the best and most intricate fish I have ever tasted, melted in the mouth to say the least. The wild mushrooms were a taste sensation, with just the right amount of spice. Adding to the overall experience was the dessert which was easily on par with the rest of the experience. The perfect balance between the tart of the apple and white chocolate ice cream sweetness capped off a wonderful night. Although I made the rookie mistake of pairing red wine with fish, even this did not detract from a wonderful dine in. Would highly recommend this establishment to anyone open to a somewhat different interpretation of modern Asian cuisine.
My friends who where from Vancouver enjoyed their dinner at the restaurant. One of the waiters spoke to us very slowly as if we didn't understand English, it was such a pity to be treated that way if though we are Asians. It spoiled the who evening for me.
I've been before but this visit the food was outstandingly delicious. We let our server decide for us and she totally nailed it.
Absolutely FABULOUS in every way from start to finish. The waiter (from England) was friendly and helpful in making recommendations which were spot on, Cocktails were yummy, loved the Tequila, Passion Fruit with Chilie, the Dumplings outstanding (4 per order) chicken wings were crispy with the perfect amount sweet & spicy sauce and the John Dory (fish) amazing. We also had the Wagu Beef for a main course which was tasty but not as tender as one might think. Overall everyone loved everything but unfortunately we were too full for desert which I’m sure would have been wonderful as well. Would definitely go back.
Fantastic service with even better food. This is one of my favourite restaurants in the city.
Food is tasty and interesting. Quantities reasonable. The service is very uneven - at times hard to get the attention of waiters.
The most negative quality is the noise caused by customers screaming over each other and being amplified by the wooden floor and other hard surfaces. This makes it almost impossible to have a conversation without also shouting.
Noise in a restaurant does not indicate fun or success. It is an impediment to enjoyment and spoils the experience.
Our favourite restaurant in Sydney food always consistently delicious and. Service always friendly and efficient
Matius was a great waiter and Simon allowed us to change tables.
Service was great. Food and drink was good. Pork was a tad bit over cooked
The food was exceptional. The chef is bold and adventurous. He shared his new dishes with us and welcomed our feedback. The standard of food is outstanding and the portions are generous. Service from all staff could not be faulted. This restaurant is a must.
Loved the interesting menu, each dish had lovely distinctive flavours.
We had the banquet for 2 and it was all simply delicious. The service was exceptional. We will return - thank you for a great night!
Mostly good. Service was efficient but not overly friendly. We had to wait considerable time for our 2nd Main Course - clearly they had some how forgotten it. Provided us with steamed rice with it but no real apology or explanation but I would have been asking for more rice anyway given our existing rice had gone cold in the interim which was the vegetarian fried rice not steamed rice. We were a table of 2 seated next to a table of 2 and we were close enough and it was quiet enough for us to hear their ongoing conversations even when they were not speaking loudly
Great food in a great location with great service. I highly recommend letting the wait staff choose your meal selection. They took the trouble out of trying to decide what to have.
I felt it was a nice evening with great service. Food was good, we took the banquet for $77.00 and wine prices varied allowing for flexibility. The chairs were a bit uncomfortable and the seating was not very private but overall, I would definitely recommend and go again!
great casual dining with excellent service. Good choice of food and would definitely go back.
Enjoyed every dish and most of them were unique.
Very attentive service.
Would definitely return.
I have ben to China Lane on several occasions and have always enjoyed it. I bought overseas visitors on Saturday and they were very impressed.
A perfect evening out with two of my girlfriends. The service was incredible (especially with my friend who was gluten-free) , they even stored all my shopping bags, the food & wine divine and such a lovely atmosphere which was vibey but importantly you could hear each other talk. A special evening out to a restaurant I’ve been keen to visit for ages.
Siu mai and prawn toast a bit too salty, pork belly was too sweet. Other menu items (wok fried beef and hummus) were good, as were drinks. Hokey Pokey dessert was excellent. Good service.
Very elegant special restaurant, perfect for a corporate lunch or a special dinner date. Food is exquiste. Top service. Would recommend highly.
China Lane can't go wrong. The food is fantastic - fresh, good looking and always delicious. The staff are reliably pleasant, prompt and helpful and the ambience is delightful. They have the good fortune to be in the quieter part of the Angel Place precinct, so if you have an outside table it's lovely and quiet but there is still plenty of action and lots of opportunities for people-watching.
I went with my daughter and friend and we shared several plates. It was just the right amount of food and everything we had was delicious. It is a great restaurant for sharing so you can try all the delicious tastes.
loved it all. the flavours were great. food cooked perfectly. service was excellent. really really loved it
