It was a cold, rainy night and we were looking for comfort food so when I saw Churchill's on OT we decided to give it a try.
Service was very good and the decor made me think of an English Pub with high ceilings.
We both had the pies - Steak & Ale Pie and Chicken Pot Pie. They were both excellent and just what we were looking for on a cold, rainy evening.
Churchills is a great place. I ate dinner there two nights in a row. Both times were great.
The service was awesome..
The waitress was fun, she had the most interesting facts on the history of Savannah. The food was delicious and good sized portions. Price was very reasonable for the quality of the food and the portions. I will definitely go back!
We got a nice rooftop table on a first-come first-serve basis. We went with our 3 children and they had a good time. Service was good, servers take care of all tables. Prices are decent and the food was great. Good portions, great flavors. The Mac and cheese with bacon was delicious, as well as my seafood linguini and the fish and chips. Burgers were very good too. Good music, good space between tables. Heaters were not working on the rooftop and it was windy. Walking distance from the river and next to a public parking. Very accessible. Would definitely go back!
Service was great. Food was subpar.
Delicious! Had already scoped out the menu before visiting, so we knew what to expect. Fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese and crab cakes for an appetizer, both very food. Our family ordered shrimp and grits, fish and chips, chicken linguine (instead of the seafood that was listed in the menu), and the kids mac and cheese. They were all amazing. The only thing that wasn't as good was my husband's steak, which was cooked a little more than the requested medium. Service was fabulous, and we found the prices to be much better than many of the other similar restaurants. Would definitely dine there again when I return to Savannah!
We had a very good experience. Our waiter was attentive and the food excellent. Servings are quite large. Only minor issue was that they were out of a few things on the food and drink menu. We will be back!
Long wait for food which on arrival was poor.
The steak addition to salad was as tough as shoe leather.
Barman did know how to pour a pint of Smithwicks. It arrived with absolutely no head.
Loud dinners....Meal took 45 minutes to serve. Food ok but would not go back...as was just ok.
Waited over an hour for food! Ambiance is great, service was decent.
Had been at Churchill's the previous Christmas week and was eager to return. It was so good, that we ate there three times in our eight day stay. The fish and chips, meatloaf, and chicken pot pie were excellent. Amazing size portions of fabulous food. The chocolate cake/torte desert was to die for. The service was amazing. The server the first day, Christmas Eve, was so friendly and professional, and was especially good at explaining not just the menu items, but the amazing special drink (with bourbon and rosemary simple syrup). Our server both of the next two visits was equally professional, friendly and informative. These two gentlemen are keepers. Definitely plan on returning again next visit to Savannah. Great experience and well worth the prices.
Very nice authentic English pub place. Food was good, but fish and chips are not really English style, but that's ok.
Waitress was pretty weird, she did not give us utensils till we asked her, she gave kids colored paper but no any crayons because covid, its not her rule I understand it, but anyway, what kids have to do with activity paper without crayons?
Overall very nice place.
Great place to taste something different. Will return when back in Savannah.
We were celebrating my husband’s birthday and he’s a vegetarian, the menu had options for him. Our server was great with recommendations for us. The atmosphere was great and the food was delicious!
Excellent service and food. Will be back.
Live music was very enjoyable. Food was great staff super friendly and energetic.
We walked in and the place was nearly empty. We said told the server about the reservation anyway because we were there to celebrate my birthday. The waiter acted put out from the start and was like well just sit anywhere. My boyfriend ordered two drinks, which he did the entire time we were in Savannah. The waiter said that he couldn’t give him two. He then checked my ID and said “Oh gotta call the boss on this one” because it expired in two days. I told him that in our state they extended deadlines due to COVID and even if that wasn’t the case, my ID was still valid for that evening. He agreed and put his phone away. I can appreciate wanting to follow rules, however the server had such a bad attitude that ruined the visit to Churchill’s for us. We ordered appetizers, which tasted good, but decided to leave because we were so put off by him. Huge disappointment because on paper, this was a restaurant we were really excited to visit. We went to another English restaurant instead and enjoyed good food as well as good service.
Service was “okay”. With the restaurant not being at all busy would have thought we’d get better service!
We had been wanting to try Churchill’s since we moved here and had only heard good things; the meal did not disappoint. The chicken pot pie was perfect as was the pretzel. Our waitress was so pleasant. The only downside was hearing music from an event that was being held in the front room, they were doing karaoke (good for them!), but not much space in between those who looking for something a little quieter. It didn’t damper the meal at all though, we’d love to come back soon!
Food was terrible. I would not recommend going here.
We met friends there for a special celebration dinner. The staff did an excellent job of complying with Covid safety measures. Our waitress was very attentive, kept our water glasses filled, knowledgeable of the menu and made suggestions. The bar was a little slow, but it was Friday night and several tables came in around the same time. The meals were delicious! We shared Drunken mussels, onion rings, and oysters rockefeller as our appetizers. Our friends got steak and ale pie and cottage pie. They raved about how good it tasted. My husband and I shared the english mixed grill plate; there was plenty for both of us and it did not disappoint. Filet and lamb chop cooked to the perfect temp, well seasoned, tender and juicy. Parmesan truffle fries were excellent as well. We finished the evening meal with pecan bread puddings...worth it! Churchill's is definitely a do-over the next time we're in Savanah.
The waiter did a great job servicing. However, the restaurant made us leave the table at 9PM. We were still eating our meal and enjoying ourselves. We thought it was rude to make customers leave a fine dining restaurant for a 8PM reservation. Recommend staying open until last customer leaves or do not allow people to reserve tables after 8PM.
We received a call prior to our reservation that the restaurant was closing at 5:00 on 11/26 so we would have to change our 6:15 reservations. We were fine with that and were told we could confirm a reservation at 5:00. We arrived at 4:45 to a staff who was not happy we arriving so close to 5:00, even after telling them we had a confirmed 5:00 reservation. Our food arrived (quickly) but my husband's meal did not include either a salad or vegetable as the menu described. Food was ok. I understand the staff's dismay but we should have never been told we could have a 5:00 reservation.
Definitely overrated! Very casual! Churchill’s would be great for drinks with a group of friends. I do not recommend for a romantic date night. We actually ate somewhere else, very disappointed.
Comfortable seating. Attentive service. Comfort food. Nice decor, but not cozy at all.
Our experience was fantastic! All the food was outstanding. The atmosphere was fun and energetic. Our table was ready at reservation time a d our server was very attentive. We love Churchill’s and will return time and time again when in Savannah. ❤️❤️❤️
Celebrated a SCAD graduation. Everything was wonderful! Great service, great table, great food! The only upset was we wanted the roof but there was a wedding up there. We will be back!!
Service was good, food was 50/50. Brussels sprouts and burger were amazing. Fried green tomatoes were tasteless and onion rings were so so
Good ambience and my EnglishDip sandwich was one of the best roast beef sandwiches I’ve ever had but my wife ordered bacon wrapped scallops and the bacon was almost raw. Disappointing for her but we’ll possibly go back on another trip to Savannah.
We were excited to come here for an English breakfast. We arrived at 11:00am and checked in, we decided to move from downstairs and eat up on the roof deck.
We were literally the only guests in the restaurant but we knew a group of 10 was coming in behind us.
We ordered juice and two English breakfasts, it literally took 40 minutes to get our food, we asked our server to check twice and she told me there was no baked beans and they were trying to find them, I asked her if they had gone to England to get them.
Anyway, I let her know I would like the manager to give us a discount which he did, 30% but it was such a disappointment. The sausages were far too burned and we asked for ketchup, the server then had to go back to the kitchen to get it. Keep your ketchup upstairs!
We have friends coming to Savannah next weekend, British friends, we wanted to recommend it to them but we can’t.
You also have a temporary tent on the roof deck, it looks like it was temporary 5 years ago. Sort it out and get a permanent roof.
Also, hide away your back of house equipment such as the beverage crates that you can see from the photos.
This was clearly a Sunday morning team with the staff hardly on their best.
We ate here during an out of town visit and had a lovely dinner. I had the fried flounder which was excellent. The collard greens and Mac and cheese also amazing. The waiter who was also our bartender as it was so busy that night made me an excellent Rasberry martini...I highly recommend it.
They have a rooftop bar which has no view at all but is nice to sit on as doing more outside during Covid 19 pandemic is a safer choice.
I would def eat here again.
Food: fantastic; service was very special both at the table and the bar. The MUSIC was absolutely phenomenal. I don’t remember the name of the 3 piece band was but that guitar & vocals cat was unforgettable. Churchill’s will see us again.
We went to Churchill’s to celebrate our anniversary the appetizers were delicious the main course that I had was a little salty I had the fried chicken. We were celebrating with my brother and his wife and my brother did not bring his ID and was declined any alcohol service he is 54. While in savanna we ate at The Old Pink House , Vic’s on the River, Garibaldi and not once at anyone of these restaurants did they ask for our ID. Needless to say that put a damper on our evening. So if you plan on a night out at Churchill’s don’t forget your ID no matter your age.
Great music and appetizers!...but one person in our group didn’t get their food, they were out of limes, shrimp and grits was way too salty, fish and chips were soggy.
Pork chop was fantastic though.
With a name like Churchill’s...We wanted it to be great.
Best Meat Loaf in Savannah, GA........bar none!!!!
My wife and I bought got the meatloaf for dinner. We were not disappointed. Would definitely recommend!
On vacation from South Dakota. , we went based on a recommendation. The food was delish!
Wonderful loved everything about it. Food was delicious and atmosphere was perfect. We will definitely eat there again.
The perfect evening....If you love Savannah like I do, you have to try to eat in every upscale restaurant!
Somehow I have missed Churchill’s every time until this week.
The atmosphere is perfect for me.
I was trying to give my niece the reasons thatI love it there and this place set the mood for the entire trip. The appetizers of sausage rolls (superb) and bacon wrapped scallops were equally delightful.
I ordered the bangers and mash since I had never tried that in my life....WOW!! Fabulous.
My niece ordered the seafood linguine and we shared with both. Seasoned perfectly and not overcooked like seafood sometimes is.
You must try this place, I cannot wait to return.
Went here for dinner and chose to eat on the roof top. The service was average at best. Our server must have been working all day or had smoked a big ole fat one as we was very laid back and disinterested. Food was average and they had run out of several appetizers. I likely would not return.
