Great food, inventive mix of Mexican and global cuisines
Food is generally great, with a few small odd pairings that don’t work. Though I like that they push further instead of relying on staid combinations
Some of the portions could be a bit larger. It is definitely at the extreme of small plates and feels a bit planned to force diners to add more courses.
Service is top notch
Amazing food, loved it. Thumping house music made it hard to converse across the table. Otherwise would have got 5 stars
Arrived in time but not seated for 20 minutes. Hostess was snobby and not warm. Food was excellent but the service was slow. Took forever for the plates to be picked up.
The service was appalling. The menu was complicated and the server refused to take the time to explain any dishes. Simply stated his favorite and walked away. My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary which I mentioned when I made the reservation and it was never acknowledged. Server never came back to check after the food came. The entree was incredible which was their only saving grace. However will hesitate to come back in the future. We expected a much higher level of service at that price point.
It was a beautiful experience, the food is amazing and the ambient is just perfect.
Food was great, service was so-so...our server was really cocky and had a bad attitude. I had been there before and everything was great, but this time the server reallt dissapointed us.
Overpriced and bad service.
Food was delicious but service was rushing us.
Absolutely fabulous.
Cosme fue una excelente opción para salir en cita, la comida es excelente tanto las carnitas de pato como el merenguen fueron increíbles. El servicio de lo mejor siempre atentos para servirte
Former regulars at Cosme but now living 7000 miles away in Hawaii it’s now twice a year. Out of the small cadre of restaurants we have chosen to visit, Cosme is at the very top. The Aloha Spirit is alive and well as you enter this beautifully adorned restaurant. Every waiter is like your personal chef. They know every dish down to the final ingredient. Their wine list( we are former Wine Educators for over 30 years in NYC) is perfectly married to their food. And their food easily compares to the Le Bernardin. and Marea in NYC. It is also one of the most relaxing restaurants we’ve ever been to. We had the following: Uni tostada, salsa mexicana, bone marrow, Arctic char, sea buckthorn aguachile, turmeric, Tataki al pastor, pineapple puree, cilantro, Black bass, mojo de ajo, hoja santa.
The food was yummy, but so not worth the price. I get that it’s “tapas” styled but when one dish costs $30 that is a bit ridiculous. I left still very hungry after having spent $115 for myself and my boyfriend. The atmosphere was very nice and romantic, but still not worth the food and cost. There are many other places in Manhattan where you can get yummy food for less money or the same amount of money but at least feel like you had a very full meal.
I really enjoyed everything. I did feel the prices were a bit high for some of the dishes, leaving me with a sense of loss in value overall, from my original visit. I feel Cosme has really made a push on elevating what they do, but at the same time, in doing so it has lost some of its connection to the cuisine it represents so well. That being said I would recommend to a friend with the caveat that it will be pricy for the relative amount of food.
Very good plates. Shareable between 2-4 people each. Good stuff. Top 20 for sure.
Las mejores caritas de pato que he comido en mi vida
Mejores que en Beijing
Terrific meal at Cosme. Inventive food, a contemporary and beautiful room and nice service. Worthy of its buzz and by far the best take on the true food of Mexico in all of NYC. Bravo!
The food was ok, decor ok, but overall way way too expensive for what it was.
Cosme always delivers. The menu is innovative and well presented and service very good. My complaint is the price. I understand Mr Olvera is positioning this as top end fine dining but the price inflation I see is unreasonable. A $20 increase in the brunch lamb dish from earlier is too much. Even small appetizers are priced at $25+. Add to that $19 cocktails and a heavily marked up wine list and this otherwise excellent restaurant starts to get uncompetitive. The dining room was only a third full when we were there. Figures.
À few times a year, I have lunch with a dear friend who comes into the city for good food and conversation. We were both excited to finally eat at Cosme for lunch and really looking forward to being wowed. The apps were good - well prepared - and the service was great. But no WOW factor, especially considering the price for Dover sole ($65) for 1/2 the fillet - not even the whole fish. Smothered in hot sauce, the fillet was rubbery and dry. To offset the heat of the fish, I had a delicious glass of wine which much to my surprise was a 3oz pour ($20!) and not the standard 5oz. Decor is gorgeous and the service was really attentive but $250 for 2 apps - guacamole and grits - and the overcooked sole was definitely a major disappointment.
Smallest portions on the planet.
Absolutely the most wonderful lunch and afternoon in the city with family. Food and drinks delicious, creative, and the service perfect.
Very disappointing. Didn't like the food nor the drinks. Very expensive for what it offers, with a lack of personality from a flavor point of view. Service is the minimum expected from a restaurant like this. Will not return and would not recommend it to anyone.
Terrible menu overpriced even by nyc standard
Waiter did not care to explain anything on the menu and was rude
Expensive
Small bites
Rude staff
Asked us to leave during desert
Horrible experience
🚟Food was excellent, though appetizer portions were stingy. (Dinner shareables we’re sufficient.). Main server was not interested in in us. All the other servers were very attentive. Sommelier, Omari, was excellent.
I found the hostesses to be very dismissive and unwilling to place us at a less busy area despite repeated requests and that this was a special birthday dinner
Excelente servicio, comida y atencion
De lo mejor en NYC
Cosme is genuinely an outstanding restaurant. We have enjoyed both brunch and dinner there. Wonderful food. Casual atmosphere. Great for sharing.
One of those rare restaurants where the food is soo good you need to try it to believe it.
Outstanding service and food
The food here is second to none. The duck carnitas is to die for! However, the front of the house needs a lot of work. We were here early on a Friday evening, when the restaurant was only half full, yet service was already having difficulties. Our main course appeared 10 minutes before our appetizer--which was not a complex one--guacamole! Drinks ordered took an inordinate amount of time to arrive, and servers were attempting to remove service items when food was still clearly on plates. The prices here are also sky high--no cocktail under $19.00 for an average (as opposed to generous) pour. Were the food not so superb we wouldn't give Cosme a second thought.
Really disappointed with the service, I mentioned it was my Gf's birthday on several occasions and they assured me they would bring her a cake, but this never happened. Food was average at best, nothing remarkable and not helped with the service.
Food not soo good
and terrible service!!
Not recommended
I was looking forward to trying this restaurant because of all the hype. I was very disappointed. The food was just “ok” and my margarita was horrible.
While the food is outstanding, the portion sizes are ridiculously small in relation to prices. A terrible value.
La comida excedió las expectativas, las cuales eran muy altas. Una experiencia inigualable y mut recomendable.
Love the food here as it' s always impeccable, but i have recently found the hostess'es to be extremely rude. Its taking away from the overall experience. Used to come all the time but find myself shying away these days...
Excellent innovative Mexican cuisine accompanied by flawless service
Highly recommended
Excellent food and ambiance. We understand food quality, complicated preparation and service, but felt that prices were extremely high, especially for wines. A bottle in Cosme costs $140 while in NOBU, same wine costs $85. Prices for dessert, out of wack!!!😩
Outstanding meal; attentive waiters. A bit pricey but definitely worth it!
