Cottons continues to eat out to help out, up to the value of £10 per person on food and soft drinks only.
It was my partner’s birthday so we went for a meal out. It was Our first time eating at Cottons Vauxhall and it will not be out last!! Our waitress was Sarah and her service towards use was outstanding!! Thank you
Very Good meal . The platter was amazing - soft pieces and really cooked well ! Would definitely come back
Perfect location, great atmosphere, wonderful attentive service and brilliant tasty food. We will definitely come back again!
I feel bad leaving review as I didn't like almost everything 😔.
Place herself, interior(looks different in pictures)furnicher, toilets(untidy, messy, toilet paper on the floor everywhere).Waitress was nice but she was keep leaning with her two hands on our table.
Food ,basic. Nice sweet potato chips though. Actually best part.
I wouldn't come back or recommend this restaurant. Sorry.
If you are looking for a perfect place to eat, inside or outside, look no further than Cottons Vauxhall. It’s like eating in a magical holiday place. Exactly the place to go right now to forget about the difficulties we face. The most fabulous staff and the loveliest food you can imagine. With the most beautiful view. As you can see from the picture. You won’t regret choosing this fabulous restaurant!
Was a very nice evening it was my partner birthday, the food was perfect would be going back soon.
I used to go to the Shoreditch’s branch and discovered this one which i absolutely love! The atmosphere, the outstanding service, the decor, the food. Everything was beyond my expectation. It was an amazing experience.
Very nice place, loved our server gave him a cheeky tenner tip!
As someone who was raised on Caribbean cuisine, Cottons did not live up to expectation. While the service and the ambience was great, the food was under par. There was a lack of seasoning and decent flavour and the meal was only salvaged by dessert, otherwise we would have been even more underwhelmed. Good for people who want to experience Caribbean food for the first time but not those who fully understand the cuisine and the flavour it contains.
Love the food staff are friendly the place is clean the cocktail are great but a bit expensive, I enjoyed myself at Vauxall branch, the one in Camden didn't like the toilets.
I was a regular when the original ‘Cottons’ opened in Camden in 1985! The Vauxhall branch is very different from my memories of The Camden branch but food and cocktails still great. Lovely setting by the river.
Food was Great! The restaurant was lovely, however, Service was slow despite the restaurant being quiet and Staff had forgotten drinks order.
The restaurant is really lovely and the service was superb.
The restaurant was delightful. The food was exceptional. I and my friends loved it.
Drinks are beautifully made, main courses are full of flavour and spices. It defines the restaurant as a great place to experience Caribbean food in London.
Perfect for a birthday celebration meal with friends! Good service, lovely, bright Caribbean style decor. Will definitly go again. Only thing required is disposable single use paper towels in the toilets as I don't feel hand dryers are suitable for the current times. Otherwise you have the precautionary measures spot on. Oh and we went to the Vauxhall restaurant - best to travel by public transport as parking wasn't that easy to find.
Never again never again never again!!!
Please I'm done...
Perfect meal! The salt fish fritters and jerk platter were amazing 😍
In these Covid-19 restricted days, it's much harder to find a restaurant that will be enjoyable - and safe.
Cottons has all the proper measures in place. It also has excellent service, superb food - and this location, on the river at Vauxhall Bridge, is great.
With unexpected sunshine, it was even warm enough to sit outside - with a heater, anyway! Rum punch seemed a good way to start, and it was perfect.
The Caribbean platter starter was lovely: tabbouleh, jerk chicken [the best ever, even better than a shack in Grenada which was amazing], chickpea curry [a BIG portion], saltfish fritters. Prawns seem to have been replaced by squid, but hey, it's a mezze, so who cared?
Mains - Creole fish stew; fabulous flavours, great quality seafood. Curried mutton stew - again, great quality, very dense flavours. The portion was so huge that we brought the rest of it home - we would NOT leave food that good.
A tot of rum, with the compliments of Alex, whose welcome and service was the warm, efficient but unfussy kind.
We'll be back. We could've easily chosen anything else on the menu, so perhaps we could spend the rest of this winter working our way through it.........................
The food was ok
The rice was undercooked
Cold potatoes came out with the sea bream
The sauce with the fish meal had a strong vinegar taste and it stayed at the back on your thought.
Macaroni had s funny tasted not great.
I bought family here because I have always had great food and service and was so disappointed.
Wouldn't recommend it again I was embarrassed
Reserved a table for inside and when my party arrived they said there was no seating inside for the size so we had to sit outside. The outside heater was not working so we were cold! Chicken wings starter arrived cold. We were also rushed to make a order which I found very unprofessional.
Food was plenty and tasted glorious
Staff were welcoming and helpful
Atmosphere was lovely
It was my partner's birthday and to my surprise they gave us a free glass of champagne.
We will definitely be coming back soon.
Price was good
Thank you too all the staff for making us feel special
A lovely warm welcome was very much appreciated on the rainy wet evening I went to Cottons, Vauxhall. Having parents from the West Indies and therefore use to its cuisine, I was intrigued in what the food would be like. Well, I wasn't disappointed. All four of my group had empty plates by the end of our main courses. Two of us had the lamb; one the jerk pork, and the other oxtail. The lamb dish I had was beautifully flavoured; they did not go over the top with the pepper! And it was so tender, too. The cocktails looked really good. I wish I'd ordered one☹. The music in the background was just loud enough not interfering in one's conversations.A popular place, so worthwhile booking early.
Staff could be abit more attentive to guest and offer more flexibility over seating ... overall compliments to the chef and the food is GREAT!!! And come presented to a high standard
We went to Cottons Vauxhall because Cottons more local to us for whatever reason were not open at lunchtime. It should have been a straightforward journey to get to but it was horrendous, started raining. I called to say we would be arriving a bit later & it was accepted. We get there, guy at the entrance was absolutely awful in his welcome, if you could call it that. It was wet but he had us standing there saying we had to download & scan this grid thing on our phone otherwise we were not going in. I said can't we write the covid trace thing, as done b4 elsewhere. He said no can do. I am unable to on my geriatric phone, my daughter had run out of data & asked if they had wifi. He then let us in for her to do that. She's not actually had to download b4 just needed to scan but oh, not here. It was initially problematic. He looked frustrated. She eventually managed it, then we needed to scan the menu & it wasn't clearly coming up on her phone so we asked if we could have a regular menu, he again seemed frustrated & basically threw the menu on the table for us to share. The first toilet I went to was filthy & had faeces in it. The food was nice & the other staff okay but not all.
Love eating out in Cottons Vauxhall! Booked a table for two for me and my mum for her birthday. It’s a lovely restaurant in a great location. Good sized portions and the food tastes amazing! Love the variety of cocktails they have and got 4 free shots at the end of the night, nice touch! You definitely get value for money coming here.
The food was nice but the service was diabolical and terrible. The manager was so ill mannered. He was rude & non attentive which made us feel uncomfortable. The place was understaffed too. We were seated for approx 15 mins and we caught the managers attention so we could try and order a drink. He cane over and said ‘I have to serve outside and over there, so I can’t serve 6 people, this is not my zone’. He pointed to a waitress and said ask her. I was livid. He complained about being overly busy and that it is hard as a manager, but that he’s trying his best. I don’t think front house, customer service is for him or he should definitely be retrained. There were other incidents which were equally out of order. Because of the lack lustre service it made enjoying the food difficult. By the end. The waitress could not answer our questions about the food and we just chose on our own accord, as it was our first time there. The customer service was zero and I could not help but show my discontent on my face, when the manager came over with the bill. He noticed that I was not pleased and started apologising about having been busy saying he hoped we enjoyed ourself & that he ‘tried his best’. He offered us 2 free shots after we paid our bill, which we accepted. In summary, the food was nice, the customer service was really bad and not acceptable.
Had a lovely time, the service was good. The food was lovely and good value for money
Booked well in advance but we still had to wait outside in the cold with our grandchildren and guess , told to download apps scanning i don't know what, one of the worst experiences I've had at a restaurant ever.
The food was great and hospitality. I will be returning again. A great venue.
My friends loved it all the way from Dallas Texas said they have never tasted food so good and seb is the best service they have had
Was not told when booked that we would have to sit outside. It was freezing despite the heaters so we were unhappy about this. Food and cocktails were great as always
Cottons never disappoint.. fantastic night ♥️
Had a lovely meal with friends and food as always excellent and was able to take advantage of Eat Out To Help Out.
They’re still doing eat out to help out so it was quite busy in there. Our waiter (I think his name was Sharmah) was very lovey and helpful. Great ambience and fantastic location (if you’re not planning to drive there).
The service, view and food was absolutely amazing. The waitresses were very lovely, offering their recommendations on food and drink.
We sat outside overlooking the view under the warm heaters. We felt very comfortable and loved the food! We will definitely be back
A very enjoyable place to be, next to the river...serving delicious and tasty Caribbean dishes. The staff are friendly and helpful...and it was a pleasure to dine there again.
Great service, very friendly staff. The food was incredible and the overall atmosphere and set up was excellent.
The 2 gentleman operating the reception were very unhelpful in their attitude towards me. Given that restaurants are operating a number of different policies in this period. For some reason they thought my friends and I should have automatically known how Cottons were operating during this period, and basically left us to our own devices until we had to request service.
It’s totally unacceptable to be as rude as they were.
Have been to this restaurant before and like the riverfront location.
