Current Restaurant and Bar & Afton House Inn

Our night out was amazing at the afton inn. Food was so good and Peggy was so much fun to have as our waitress.

The food was great and although the food service (time to get) was slow the overall service was good and friendly.

Afton House is never disappointing. Great food, wonderful service and great drinks. Outdoor and indoor seating. The town is also cute to wander through. In this time of Covid, staff and customers wore masks and we were seated with enough space between diners when we dined inside. The fine dining restaurant is elegant with wonderful dishes. The Current restaurant is casual and fun with great burgers. I sincerely hope the restaurant is here to stay through this pandemic. It is my new favorite!

It was a slow Wed night and we were the only ones there. It was the quiet, romantic night we were looking for after a hike at Afton State Park. We were late for our reservation, but the staff was so friendly and nice, even though we were late.

Outdoor seating was a little makeshift, but that's the COVID era. Everything on the menu had a unique twist. The food was delicious, though the asparagus flatbread didn't have a lot of asparagus on it. The truffle oil sprouts were amazing. I ordered a 2-ounce wine taster, and they gave me a glass. The server was superb, informing us that our initial selection would probably be too much for us. She also brought a small dessert for our anniversary.

Excellent as always. Enjoyed the patio on a beautiful fall evening for dinner.

Waited a long time or our check.. in covid conditions we really like to eat and run

There were four tables. We waited 1 hour and 15 min and only had bread and a drink. Then another table who arrived after us (same # of people) received their food before us. We heard their food wasn’t what they ordered and also heard them then cancel their appetizer. The waitress told us there were 3 restaurants to one kitchen. We walked out very disappointed and hungry!

We loved our food and received good service. The ambiance was fairly good, but there was an opportunity for more in terms of decor and setting the mood, so to speak. The braised short ribs were delicious.

All of the food is great but the best item on the menu is the spicy chicken drops.

Our server Lynn was awesome! It was a quaint place to visit.

They were very understaffed and service was slow. They weren’t even busy for a Fri. night but very slow. Fish fry was ok, would have been better if it didn’t take 20 min. to get some lemon with my fish. The Angus Burger Dip was good with the sweet potato fries. The Bloody Mary mix is made in house and very good if you like spicy. Our server was very nice and friendly just busy and inattentive.

Had a nice time on the patio. Server was great but the kitchen and bar were very slow. Took a while to get our drinks and appetizer then the rest came out almost all at once.

The Gouda fondue was quite good and the Caesar salads were tasty and came out refreshingly chilled. The Margarita flatbread was a miss. Soggy and almost tasteless.

Hard to gauge if there were many people inside. The patio was about 70%. Safety protocol was being followed at least by the staff. It was entertaining to watch people try to go inside without a mask and quickly realizing that they could not. That and people thinking that they could just seat themselves on the patio.

First time dining at Current. We sat outside. Server was very friendly and attentive . Went for the Friday fish and was very good .

Food was great. Waitress very pleasant and helpful in describing dishes. Excellent cocktails. Will definitely be back.

The food was outstanding and the portion size was nice too. The walleye and short ribs were very flavorful and certainly better than what I can make at home. Being outside was very nice. A nice evening.

My husband and I ate here on June 25th for our anniversary. The food was outstanding, but the service was good, but incredibly slow and they did not seem that busy. It took over nearly 25 minutes from the time we sat down before we received our beer and wine. Since we enjoyed the food, we will likely try it again and just hope the slow service was not the norm.

Outstanding weight staff. Food is very good, good wine list. Ambience is excellent. Sit outside if you can.

Great place for a date night! Patio has a great view. Service was outstanding, and the food was excellent!! We'll definitely be back! PS, try the truffle sprouts, they were out of this world!

Awesome food, great location on the St. Croix rive, staff/service was excellent! Our favorite items - avocado wontons, spicy chicken drops, Thai chicken flatbread, and the Grape & Brie flatbread. All were absolutely delicious!

My husband never got his meal after an hour sitting at the restaurant. The waitress numbered the tables wrong and even after we told her he did not have his meal she never checked on it. She didn't charge us for his meal but never offered to make it right. The sign of a good restaurant is if they make a mistake they ask you how to make it right. We were very disappointed. After 3 months not going out to eat due to the corona pandemic we were really looking forward to a good meal and afton fell very short.

Incredibly slow service, the server was very apologetic. Multiple mistakes with our order. The cocktails are pretty good, and the food is decent. Great location, and scenic surroundings. A lot of work to do to get the service up to speed.

This was our second time here and just as good as the first time. This time we sat out on the patio, with our dogs. My wife had the chicken asparagus flat bread pizza(outstanding). I had a chicken club with fries(very tasty) and a beer. Our server brought ice water for our dogs, which to me showed class. This a new go to place for us.

The food was excellent though a little higher priced. Our waitress was amazing!

As seniors we like going here for the soups. The bowls are perfect size for a full meal with a side of bread. This trip we brought our son and his girlfriend. It was a nice quiet place to share a meal and have great conversation.

There were six of us for an early happy hour (4 pm) leading to dinner. We shared great apps - edamame, chicken drops, cheese curds. All were good. I had shrimp tacos but had them served on bibb lettuce. very good. Our server was busy and she remained attentive and friendly. (Ashley)

Very slow service.

Seemed overwhelmed for Valentine’s Day service so food service was very slow. Great waitstaff and overall decent food.

I have to be gluten free and these folks hit it out of the park. The risotto was excellent-order extra veggies, you’ll be happy you did!
Hubby had salmon and au gratings and loved it.
The only reason we marked it 4 stars was because it IS a bar, which kind of messes with the fine dining menu and the fireplace ambiance. Bar patrons were a little distracting and “thirsty”. There is another room if u go up a few steps tho, so if it’s super bothersome you can go there. Cocktails were great. Have a Pomtini. Yum! Overall we had a fantastic night thanks to Jessi our server. She was tops!!

Everything was just great waitress was so nice and polite friendly but the table behind us had was so loud this has nothing to to with the restaurant I’m all for having fun but me mindful of Other people in the restaurant

Went for Thanksgiving dinner. The food was good, not great and not consistently hot. I certainly expected more for the price. Desserts were small and largely forgettable. My biggest complaint was service - while other tables seemed to be getting constant attention, we rarely saw our server. In fact, he stopped at our table 3 times - two times after I asked a waitress to find our server and once when he dropped off the bill. I expected more

Excellent food and service at Current/Afton House Inn for their Thanksgiving Buffet. Buffet line logistics could probably have been better thought out, and staff may need some more training on Open Table reservation system (I was called 3 times to confirm my reservation; confirmed on the phone 2x and online. I was called again on the morning of to confirm.), but all in all wonderful experience. My elderly parents couldn’t remember having a better buffet-style meal.

Current was a nice place to eat a casual meal. Menu was varied and had many options. Highly recommend the gouda fondue plates.

Go eat the edamame, they were magic. Although just a bar, the food was really good. The cowboy steak was worth the price & Caesar was not overdressed. Though they should replace the good but oversold Surly Furious with Rush Rivers Double Bubble, a bolder IPA.

We enjoyed the best truffle fries and Gouda cheese, shrimp tacos and flatbread pizza. Everything was good. Our server was great. Thanks!
