Daphne at Twisted Laurel
Food and Service were excellent. Great value.
Steamed clams appetizer arrived with 1/3 of clams still closed. On my second clam, our 2 Rib Eye entrees arrived. We asked to hold the steaks so we could eat our appetizers. When steaks arrived - mine was cooked as requested - (Blue w cold red center) but my wife's medium rare request was just as "blue & cold" as mine. So her steak went back to be cooked and we waited for it to return. The clam dish had great taste and the steaks were terrific cuts of meat but as far as a dining experience, its hard to excuse botching the timing and cooking of both the appetizer and entree when its only a table of two and the restaurant is half filled. And with a waitress, food runner and manager all touching different parts of the meal - its no wonder than no one on staff even recognized how the coordination and cooking of the meal was bungled. With just some better attention and coordination this meal could have been a 5.
The Pecan Crusted Trout and the Sea Bass were perfect. Another one of us had meatballs and pasta and that was very good as well. For a delicious drink, I believe the Mora, Mora, Mora was pretty and delicious.
Hot appetizer served cold. When mentioned, it was microwaved! Dinner was average. By 8 PM they were out of their special desert. Yes at 8 PM before their top reservation time! Go somewhere else. Upside - bar was very good and bartender was awesome.
Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback for us mattk. It is one of the best ways for us to find out what our areas of opportunity are. I apologize that you felt the pork belly was microwaved, that is definitely not our standard method of cooking. Sometimes our house made desserts are more popular than we anticipate, and we do run out of them. We make certain that we make more the next time! Please contact me, Vince, at 828.552.3240 to discuss further.
Reservation was late but snagged bar seats
The food was great. No complaints there. The service at first was very bad, I explained to the manager the lack of attention by the young waiter after several trips my self to get silverware, napkins, refills on water and no follow up on the food delivery to the table. They replaced her with a very nice lady and the manager came an apologized and gave us free dessert. I will go back and like I said the food was very good.
Thank you RussellB! I'm so happy that we could turn a rough start into a positive experience! I look forward to next time.
Was great food for good value. La bit busy the night we were there which made it hard for waitress to serve us promptly. Overall great experience.
I enjoyed my entree but my husband's steak was cooked correctly but was poor quality - especially for the price. Cute decor, sort of noisy if going for date night.
Beautiful restaurant, great service and a promising menu that just ended up being disappointing. We had the 4 course menu which was listed as prix fixe but you choice choose each course. The pork belly appetizer was way undercooked and just tough. Salads were good and the meatball second course was good as well although the sauce was super sweet. We ordered a combined entree that was a striped sea bass (overcooked) and a ribeye which had absolutely no seasoning (meat and heat appeals to some but I like some added flavor - at a minimum some salt). Not sure if this is typical or they just struggled due to a modified menu and hectic Valentines Day weekend.
Amazing lunch! Good food and good service!
Waitress is the best I’ve ever experienced and the food was incredible! Highly recommend this place to anyone in Asheville!
Valentines Day. Ambience is great. Expecting menu on website I reviewed the day before. Menu on night of dining different. Not good. Was expecting some items on the published menu. Explanation and excuse by server was not acceptable. No hand towels in men’s bathroom. Even after reporting it still wasn’t replaced for another hour. Focaccia was under done.
A pleasant local joint with a casual ambiance. The cheese steak with a full complement of peppers and onions was excellent as was their in house ginger brew. Less successful but adequate was their misnamed eggplant Parmesan, which was more of a stew and not served over pasta. Not pricey.
Food was delicious! Wish they served coffee though.
They have the best Philly steak sub. The only way to one better is to go to Philadelphia
it was a nice place for birthday dinner!
Everyone enjoyed their food and our server, Trey, was good! Enjoyed!
Decided to try for dinner during restaurant week. Food and service was great. Not much choice for dessert. Will definitely try again.
Food was fantastic, staff was very friendly. Especially recommend the focaccia plate as a starter. A delightful evening.
The calamari was unique but very tasty. Appreciate how easy to walk around downtown when eating at Daphne at Twisted Laurel.
Food was amaizng and Dan our server was on point. Quite the gen off the beaten path of downtown regulars. The hype is true and worth it
Food was ok. Had to ask for our wine even after entrees were delivered.
The Sicilian Calamari and the pork blue cheese Brussels were excellent
Amazing atmosphere with good food. Also a nice place for children without it feeling like a family restaurant.
Excellent food, cool place, but service was a little rough.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us some feedback. We apologize that the service did not live up to your expectations. Please give us the opportunity to serve you again and show you that our service can be just as good as our food.
Daphne’s menu reads beautifully! However, the execution of the dishes did not come close. 3 of our 4 items were actually served under cooked or cold inside. The plates were hot to the touch.. wish the food had been as hot! The the cheese in the Tortellini was barely at room temp! Roasted Brussels weren’t roasted.. they were served as a recovery from a missed order. That arrived quick but cold inside and raw! The server and manager didn’t recheck in with us.. too bad had they actually stopped over to the table again we could have given them better ratings...big disappointment! Too many great options in Asheville to give them another chance!
We ordered our food when shortly after we had to leave due to our daughter feeling ill. We asked that we get our food to go which was no problem at all. The service was lovely. When we were able to eat our meals we found them to be quite delicious! The Tuscan chicken was mouth watering and beef filet was perfect. Fantastic experience even though it didn’t turn out as planned.
Thank you for your review. We are sorry you had to leave, but are so pleased that you enjoyed your meals. Please come see us again soon!
Great food and they accommodated my allergens!
Quiet night Tuesday. Good bar service. Good meals. Some entrees large enough to split. House special steak with mushrooms excellent. Mac n cheese excellent. Pork flat iron tasty but very tough. Friendly.
Thank you jimboy! Please allow us to serve you again very soon!
How do you serve a cold meatball, just one, On top of spaghetti. Very unappetizing. I make a point of sampling meatballs everywhere I go. This was the all time worst.
Great appetizers and menu selections.
Thank you KimC!
Great service! Ambience was a little open and cold but enjoyed the food!
We enjoyed our first visit to Twisted Laurel. It was a bit difficult to find. Not as cute as it appeared online but food was good and service was great.
This would be a great place to meet friends for a beer and a snack outside in nice weather but I would not suggest it if you are looking for really good food. The place we saw online and the actual space were not the same. The food online also looked delicious. The food we were served was mediocre at best. Nothing more to say there. Our server was great! She was prompt, attentive and friendly. The lighting of this place is super bright so not much ambiance. We happened to also hit it on a night where there were several babies who were fussy and likely up past their bedtime.
Excellent food. Excellent cocktails. We were meeting new friends and all of us enjoyed it. Diverse menu- for nibbles to a full meal. We will be back.
First, we were seated at a high top when i specifically requested a table on the reservation . We sat there for at least 10 minutes before anyone noticed we were there. Finally someone brought water and took our drink orders. 10 minutes later we got someone to take our food order - but at 6pm on a Saturday night they were out of what 3 out of 4 people at the table wanted - trout. On a Saturday night. The host had not told us this, so we had to settle for something else. Then after 10 more minutes we got our drinks (they were also out of the “feature” beer my husband wanted). The food was mediocre., and we were late for Shindig. We have been to Twisted Laurel in Weaverville which was wonderful - good food and great service on a very busy night. Very dissatisfied and disappointed with how the Daphne is being managed. Won’t be going back.
The service was really slow and all the food I love at Twisted Laurel is off the menu. I'll have to start going to the one off of Patton Ave. I won't be back to this one.
Brussel sprouts app had good flavor. The sprouts were a bit under cooked (read raw). I certainly don’t want them mushy and they were far from that. Not many sprouts for the price of the appetizer
Chicken and waffles were yummy.
Tuna entree was also very good
Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. I will convey your experience to the Chef so that we are able to prevent this from happening in the future. I am so happy that you enjoyed the rest of your meal. Please give us the opportunity to serve you again in the near future.
