Really tasty curry with a twist - not what you usually expect. Friendly and knowledgeable front of house recommended Indian wine and was very impressed! Who knew? Really well presented interior and tableware. Posh curry definitely :)
Great food in a lovely atmosphere. It’s a shame that lockdown means only takeaway for a while!
We're not alone in naming the Darbar as our favourite Indian restaurant. We look forward to returning post lock down.
Authentic indian food, best we have tasted outside of india.Fast and curtious service. Will definately be dining here again.
Fantastic food fantastic service great service couldn’t fault
Great Valentines meal - 2 starters - one of which was Veggie, plus 2 mains and rice and a bottle of white wine @ £25 - total bill £90 not cheap but it was a wonderful meal
Lovely meal. Fantastic food, service. Very happy. Highly recommended, definitely go again
Delicious authentic food, lovely surroundings and very pleasant staff!
Rushed and sexist service, overpriced food and drink, strong incense, air conditioner used to rush table to clear, food is good but not worth the money.
We are regulars - delicious food and friendly staff as always.
Really delicious food, which included some lovely choices that I had not seen before in other restaurants. I thoroughly enjoyed the lentil dishes that came as part of the vegetarian set menu. Would highly recommend Darbar.
We’ve been here a few times and it’s one of the best Indian restaurants we’ve been to. It’s traditional Indian food which tastes amazing, there’s a wonderful atmosphere and the staff are incredible and attentive.
It’s highly recommended.
Overall it's an enjoyable experience.
The service and food are good, the food is certainly different to the run of the mill Indians, it's based on more traditional Indian cuisine.
Value for money is average at best, the bill will typically be double other Indians in Emsworth. A wine that might be £8 in Majestic would be approximately £25.
Lovely food, very friendly staff. Something a bit different from normal Indian restaurants. Wine was okay but a little expensive but other than that excellent
Excellent food and friendly service. The food is not your normal local Indian food and is very tasty.
Very expensive and defiantly not what they describe their restaurant to be, not fine dining and just an average Indian.
Great food and service
Really delicious, really fresh food. Will be going back.
Amazing food and wonderful service! This place is a hidden gem and would highly recommend to anyone that appreciates authentic, Indian cuisine.
Delicious food in a calm setting with friendly and helpful serve at a reasonable price. Excellent lunch time offers
An excellent change from the usual Indian cuisine. Food freshly cooked with ample portions of meat or Fish. Staff friendly and helpful can’t do enough to please one. Biriani dishes particularly excellent, cooked in the traditional way. A very satisfying and Pleasant experience.
Authentic and delicious food with attentive and friendly service.
Our first time at the Darbar and chosen due to very positive reviews on-line. Nice seating area with enough room between tables for you to feel that you could have a private conversation. Menu was well written and clear, nice to see it on their website as well which gives you plenty of time to chose. Staff were attentive and helpful without being intrusive. Would definitely recommend it and will be visiting again.
We swapped for a takeaway. Brilliant!
Wonderful meal with friends. Its so nice to find a restaurant which has taken the curry to another level!!
Having chosen this by just doing a Google search for restaurants new Rowlands Castle we were pleased with our selection. The restaurant is pleasant is all aspects - music level, waiter service, decoration and overall ambience.
The rice/spinach dish was certainly a change. The chicken biryani was cooked in a pot with a naan bread type pastry lid and it was lovely. The chicken pieces in both main courses were large in both size and quantity.
The bill was probably a bit on the high side for the amount ordered but overall we were extremely happy with the food.
Our one complaint (too strong a word really) would be that a service charge was added to the bill automatically when we are sure that, despite the legal requirement, we don't recall seeing this mentioned anywhere on the menu.
If we lived in the area we would certainly frequent Darbar.
Lovely restaurant and food, very large portions. Great Goan curry, please open one in Wanstead
Excellent food. Please keep it up !!Excellent food. Please keep it up !!Excellent food. Please keep it up !!
We did and they came down from London. Everyone enjoyed the evening and the food was of an exceptionally high standard as is usual at the Darbar
A very pleasant Sunday lunch .Service first rate . Food characteristically tasty.
Great food, excellent service, will definitely visit again
Absolutely fantastic food, top quality. You can taste the difference between their cuisine and the mass produced fare served in most so called Indian restaurants.
Great service and for once truly authentic freshly cooked Indian food. Great to see special menu which included Goan goat curry and delicious chicken with Portuguese Goan influences. Very healthy portions and really good choices for vegetarians, potato dosa delightful. Good range of desserts with really creamy pistachio kulfi and great rice pudding. Reasonably priced certainly going again!
Excellent food, service and experience. Pure authentic Indian food. Fabulous menu. Caters for groups too. Highly recommend.
Dear Rachel, Thank you for review with your kind words. I am glad that you enjoyed our food and place. Our aim is to bring back to Britain the original flavours and taste of Indian cuisine and hospitality as you will find it in India. Namaste Dr. Mayank Gupta
First reaction was not another Indian restaurant for Emsworth, what are they going to do differently.
Well!! It being a new build it also carries that to the inside also which makes it a lovely bright restaurant but also making it a perfect place for special and casual dining. Well thought out menu. Not reams of dishes just the right amount to make the choice hard enough that you need to go back so to try some more. Loved the street food served. Goat curry perfect balance of spices. Serving size were about perfect. We even had a little bit left over for a doggy bag. Well done DARBAR we will be back.
We would recommend to others and look forward to revisiting. Vegetarian and vegan dishes were delicious and we were made very welcome.
Yes, I have already done so many times. Fine delicate flavours and staff are keen to do their best.
Wonderful meal with a friend in a a lovely restaurant. We were impressed with the quality of the food and the ambience of the place. As a vegan, I was pleasantly surprised that they were able to adapt the chef’s selection of three dishes for me. Enjoyed everything about the evening from the attentive staff to the decor and quality of the food. I will definitely be returning.
Great service, delish food and attentive wait staff. I’d certainly go again.
Really enjoyed our visit. Food was superb and made a nice change from the usual Indian dishes
