I have been a David's advocate and diner for years. I have taken many out of towners there. Our recent visit was a big disappointment. The Haddock with Lobster was inedible. The fish was so overcooked and dry - terrible. The open faced ravioli with lobster must have been cooked under a picture of a lobster as there was nearly none but had substituted shrimp instead. Of the three of us, no one bothered to finish their meal. There is no excuse for such terrible food from what was once our favorite restaurant.
Terrible food. marginal service. Way over priced at $191. for three meals.

If I want an excellent meal, this is now on my short list.

This restaurant listed vegan options on their online menu and had no vegan options in the restaurant. My food was great, but my wife was very frustrated by this.

Had an amazing experience, super friendly, great cocktails, apps, and dinner was incredible!!! Hostess was awesome!!! Will go back again =)

My fiancé and I went for NYE dinner. We had a reservation but for some reason were placed in a back dining room with no music playing and a much different (and less desirable) ambiance than the main dining room. Without going into too much unnecessary detail, the food was great but overall was not worth the $200 spent (before tip).

We have recently discovered David’s and this was our third time eating there. Great restaurant. Food is always same high quality. Make a great cosmopolitan. We look forward to our next visit.

Atmosphere quiet, food was great. Our server was professional and pleasant . We were celebrating our 30th anniversary and could not have asked for a better experience.

I made a reservation here a couple of weeks ago and having perused their menu had pretty much decided on the highly regarded meatloaf. When I was seated and saw the specials menu, though I got distracted by appetizers again and just did those, trying new things again. Mussels for the first time and then roasted tomato arancini, followed by a cup of their unique and outstanding clam chowder. This place's high reviews are founded and deserved. It's situated right on Monument Square, too with nice views.

Very nice place, decent food and service. Nice that the owner, David, stopped by the table to say hello. Definitely a great find in Portland. Will be going there again. :)

The food was amazing as was the service. Felt very safe; they did a great job providing sanitizer, space between guests, and reminders on the table.

I have never had a bad or average meal at David’s; meals have always been excellent . Food is great, service is excellent. A most enjoyable experience.

This was a fabulous place for lunch! We had a hard time deciding what to order, as everything looked so good. We decided on burgers and they were excellent. The server was the owner's daughter and she was wonderful. Very accommodating.

Love David's but they need to have better music playing to add to the atmosphere. The music made me feel like we were in a chain restaurant. Salmon cakes were amazing. Slaw was a little too sweet along with the brussle sprout appetizer.

The food here is fantastic! During these challenging times for restaurants, David’s does a great job both inside and out to keep diners and staff safe. The staff is friendly, the food is so delicious and the ambiance is spot on. Love this place!

Everything was perfect. Service and food were excellent. However, we were one of only two parties in the place and we had called earlier to ask if we could make our reservations any later. We were told that we could not. When we left over an hour after our reservation, there were still no other parties. We wish that had gone a bit differently. This won’t stop us from returning, though, because it was one of the best meals we have had in a very long time!

Service was incredible

Everything was fine. The servers seemed bored. The restaurant was clean enough but not sparkling. I wanted to order grilled chicken for my salad but the server went quickly to my husband before I could continue my order. She promptly walked away. I never got a chance to say, “Excuse me, please”. My kick tail was delicious, however.

I just wish we’d had a window seat as the only diners .... food was fantastic

We recently moved back to Maine and were celebrating our anniversary and decided to have lunch at David's. We sure made the right decision! The chowder that my husband ordered was the best we have had anywhere. The potato pizza was HUGE and we had two other meals out of it later on. The server was great and we felt very comfortable during this Covid time by dining inside. We will go back!

Had a nice dinner outside on the patio. Great, attentive service. Ordered the seared ahi and duck with the calamari appetizer. Everything was nicely prepared and presented with good flavors. Nothing was mind blowing or over the top for food, which still means we very much enjoyed our meal. Prices are reasonable, which is refreshing. Overall a wonderful experience for dinner. Definitely recommend!

First time dining here. The open face lobster ravioli was outstanding. Attentive staff. Looked really nice inside when I went to use the restroom. We dined outdoors as we aren't ready for indoor experiences with COVID around. However, would very much like to return.
