Del Lago Resort Event Tent
It was a cold damp rainy day. They should have had portable heaters. If not the brunch should have been cancelled. Some of the food had trouble staying hot. Thanks
Had a reservation for 2:45 for the mothers day brunch. Showed up on time and was told I had to wait up to a hour and a half to get a table. The buffet was too packed there was a line just to get to the buffet. Terrible set up and even more awful service. Drove almost a hour to go there besides. NEVER AGAIN!!
I have mixed emotions. The food was good but, the tent was very cold. I know the restaurant can’t control the weather but, if you plan a tent event in upstate NY in May , plan on bad weather. My mother could not enjoy her food because her hands were freezing. I found myself getting up and walking around to stay warm. There were heaters but it appeared only one was blowing heat. For the money I wish more of an effort was made to make sure the tent was warm. Also the walk from the tent to the hotel was not completely covered. There were gaps causing my family to get wet from the down pouring rain when entering and exiting the tent. Unfortunately this happened several times as it was necessary to exit the tent to use the restroom and escort my younger children to the restroom. Getting wet from the rain and entering a cold tent did not make for the great experience I was expecting. I expected Del Lago to go the extra mile to make sure it’s guests were dry, warm and comfortable
Myself, husband, son, daughter & son in law were very excited to do a little gambling & enjoy the buffet...it was good, but not nearly as good as the regular buffet you can get daily in the casino, & about $13 more expensive. There were no soups, no Chinese hibachi & NO PRIME RIB!! My husband was VERY disappointed about that, & the desserts inside are MUCH better. The clams were served cold, w/no melted butter. So, we will not return. For the price on a Mothers Day Buffet, we expected a bit more...
Tent was cold. Food was cold. Some of the entrees we're frequently lacking replenishment.
The major complaint I had with this was that it was held in the Event Tent with no heating source. Mother's Day was cold, damp and rainy and the tent was cold. I had to eat with my coat on and I was still uncomfortable.
Unfortunately, the heating system was unable to keep up with the cold climate that day.
The signage was nonexistent. The tent was freezing. The plates and food were cold.
It was so cold in there we could see our breath when we talked. Our food was instantly cold by the time we got back to our table.
Very enjoyable experience. The food selection and taste were outstanding and were an excellent value. The live music was enjoyable and just right on the volume. Definitely would recommend.
We were there over an hour and never had a server ask us for anything as dishes piled up, yet TIP IS INCLUDED! The layout of the food was non-flowing. There were signs for food that wasn't present. After a half hour no food was replenished, don't ever go to the last seating. Extremely hot in the tent, very uncomfortable. Speaking of comfort if you weigh more then #150 your at risk of breaking the flimsy chairs.
This event was a one-time thing for Mother's Day, but I really hope they do it again in the future. The food was overall very good. The only thing they seemed to struggle a little bit with was the buffet challenge of keeping hot foods hot. Still, everything was simply delightful and definitely felt like a special occasion. If they were to do this again, I hope they will staff a little bit more for plate pickup at the tables - the "suggested" 18% gratuity that everyone pays when entering (on a pretty pricey dinner) should warrant pretty great and frequent plate pickup when the service itself is buffet-style, including drinks. However, the people were TREMENDOUSLY friendly and made for a wonderful experience, so this was just a small thing that would make it even better. Great dinner and we would definitely do it again if the opportunity should come up again!
The food was great, however we were charged 18% gratuity on our bill and there was no service at all. The only thing the servers did was clear dirty dishes and they did not even do that often. We had to get everything ourselves including our beverages, food and coffee. We asked for a napkin and it never made it to our table. The check in process was ridiculous, it took 25 minutes standing in a line just to check in and pay before we were shown to our table and seated. It was very frustrating, I hope they get a better system in place before their next holiday.
The food was extremely overpriced. It was not very appetizing. I didn't appreciate the mandatory tip for a buffet, as there should not be a tip involved in this type of dining experience, for obvious reasons...it is a buffet. There were no servers and the water glasses were not even kept filled. I was very disappointed with this dining experience.
The event tent was a good idea that failed. To many people fighting to get to the food, with no respect for the people around them. Every fat person was there just to fill there over stuffed bellies. The food was excellent, and when they hold this in Portico, it is really enjoyable. I have attended the raw bar buffet in Portico twice, and really enjoyed the experience. No pushing or shoving, because there is room for everyone to enjoy their favorite food or desert and just relax. They said they had 900 people, and even though there were several seating's, just to many people in one place at the same time. I will never attend this again if it is in the event tent.
We had a terrible experience at the Mother’s Day Brunch event this morning. First, it was terribly unorganized with the check-in. We had reservations and there was no indication of where to check in and pay until we arrived. That was all well & good, we paid and got check off on three different lists.
We went to the tent to be seated and were told to sit at Table 21—someone else was sitting there. Ok...more disorganized. We stood in the middle of the tent waiting to be seated for about 5 minutes. When finally seated, we went to get food. The first thing that we noticed is that the lobster tails were not properly cleaned with the green, orange tomalley and black “dirt” on them. The other food was cold, prime rib raw and some of the other food was cold. We went to get a soft drink and they wanted to charge $2 per soda. When we first complained, the Food and Bev manager said it was a mistake and refunded us.
My mom went to get an omelette, figuring that would be hot, but the young lady at the station definitely needed a new station, pans and lessons in cooking and sanitation. The omelettes looked like a big scramble and she kept dipping the spatula in a vat of dirty water. Delicious!
There were so many details that they missed for this event and certainly dropped the ball. Our bill for 4 totaled $165–with an 18% gratuity included, which is fine if it was a good experience. We spoke to several managers, but never the GM as promised. All in all, they discounted 20%, which is an insult and like leaving a waitress a penny less than the bill.
Thank you Del Lago for ruining my mom’s Mother’s Day brunch, especially because it is the first Mother’s Day that my sister from California has been able to spend with her since my father passed.
Enjoyed my experience as a first timer to the Del Lago casino. Mother's day brunch was awesome and liked the VINE for local brewery choices. Nice Job!
