Great for vegetarians. Artistic, delicious, good portion sizes. The truffle mushrooms were delicious and traditional vegetarian dishes held a delightful flavour twist. Dessert? Make room for dessert. We had the choc mousse and nitro meringue, both had a great mix of textures and flavours; a must.
Great experience, share plates allowed us to try many different items from the menu, 4 of us dined and we shared 7 items, all of which were delicious. They were served in a great way to allow us to enjoy each dish without crowding the table or rushing the meal, overall a wonderful service and a meal that was thoroughly enjoyable, start to end. We will be recommending and will definitely be back! Well done Detour Team
Wow! What a fabulous venue with an open kitchen, quick and efficient service, creative and inspired dishes and a very reasonable price tag.
Despite promoting ‘shared eating’ the menu caters perfectly for a mixed omnivore/herbivore family as we are so no one went hungry. This is the second time we’ve dined and spent just under $200 for an entree and main each and shared dessert plus a couple of cocktails. The vegetarian choices are divine - you can’t pick a bad option on this menu, I’m already looking for any occasion to rebook. This is well located in a small mecca locale in Woollongabba with street parking options a short walk away. This is accessible fine dining with sustainability at the forefront with contemporary industrial warm decor to top it off. Loved it!
This was the third time I've been to Detour, and was the most disappointing. Hadn't been since ~2018, and I'd always spoken very highly of it.
Food was still good, though the menu hasn't changed a lot since I was last there. The carrots and the salmon were a highlight. Wine selection was pretty good & we enjoyed a bottle of pinot.
Tables are starting to look a little tired. Our table was very wobbly and had splintered along the bottom edge, which damaged my partner's stockings.
Being charged $5 for still water left a bad aftertaste.
Delicious food and friendly service. Our group had a great night out at Detour.
Thank you for the recommendations from the waiter in the food. It was all delicious
Great food, really ambient atmosphere. Quite open with the chef's almost working in the dining area.
Very pleasant atmosphere and the food was just as good as we experienced on the first visit.
First time here and loved the food, cocktails and ambience. The only criticism I would make is the time between meals to be a little longer as we had finsihed dinner 40 mins after entering, including entree.
I have eaten here many times for different occasions. I have never had a bad experience. The food is consistently delicious. Service always good and not pretentious.
I think they have created something that will stand the test of time. We will be back.
The food was outstanding, especially the plant based dishes which are among the best I have had anywhere. Service was friendly but a bit slow.
very friendly service and amazing food! highly recommended and definitely will visit again for other dishes haven't tried yet~
Great food and service. Just loud ambience and a bit exxy for small plates.
Surprised in this day and age there are hidden costs on final bill - offered water - still or sparkling but no mention there was a cost. Given water out of open glass bottle.
Not advised there was charge and not offered tap water
This was as we sat down and before we saw a menu - it may have been on there but didn’t think to look - ended night on disappointing note
The shared plate approach works well.
The meals are on the expensive side.
The location is good and not too noisy even if sitting outside.
Some outstanding dishes - K.F.D, coal-roasted broccoli, smoked pumpkin, and nitro meringue. All items on the menu are available gluten-free.
Blown away again by the phenomenal food at Detour ❤️❤️ cannot stop raving about this place! Finally got to try the Hawaiian curry I’d had highly recommended…sublime (as was everything else too) ❤️❤️
Staff were all excellent - attentive and considerate from start to finish. Did feel a little rushed through in terms of our allocated seating time, but not a major complaint. Noise level was very high so made it hard to have a conversation and relax but that might suit others. The food was mixed so I'll start with the least impressive: we had the chocolate mousse for desert to share and it was the most disappointing dish of the evening. Raspberry flavours were too sweet and overpowering and the mousse itself was snap frozen to the point of being rock hard - so it ended up feeling and tasting more like a chocolate paddle pop with fancy presentation. The meat dish we order was pork belly - it was cooked fairly well and came with pancake/crepes and a sprout side to make into small wraps. Flavour was solid, but nothing memorable. However, the veggie dishes we ordered (carrots, and pumpkin) were some of the best veggie meals we've ever eaten. This is clearly their strength and something they should play to more IMO. I am STILL thinking about those veggie dishes days later and would happily go back just for them. Wine list was generous by the bottle but less so by the glass (understandable in terms of managing and maximising stock and pretty standard at most restaurants). Price was fair for the quality of food and we will likely return for the carrot and pumpkin dishes, and are keen to try their other veggie options (broccoli looked awesome)
Food was absolutely delicious and the dishes we chose were brought out in pairs which allowed us to enjoy the great flavours on offer.
The food is absolutely next level delicious. I'm vegan and my partner eats animals, and we both had really tasty food. I love this place.
Best meal of my life!! Truly sublime menu, so creative and every taste a sensation.
Easiest the best restaurant in Brisbane. The innovation of their menu is a delight.
Needed maybe just a little more food.
One dish came out in little shells. Wasn’t enough to go around. Would have made more sense for one shell per person rather than two people sharing a shell.
Awesome night. Happy, helpful and knowledgeable wait staff, beautiful and delicious food. Many thanks. 😀
Great restaurant with an eclectic menu.
However if you're going to use complex cooking techniques and call items on the menu 'fossilised' you should really make sure your wait staff can clearly articulate what that cooking technique is... suggesting it's 'a secret' inst really acceptable.
Incredible experience! Really good food and service.
I'll start by saying taste wise the food is amazing. Portion size on the share plates I thought was a bit small for the price but the quality is there for sure.
With the drinks, we were offered still or sparkling water and I was a bit knocked back when I saw I being charged for the still water. We were not given a bottle so I can only assume it was tap water. $13.50 for a stubby of Asahi is too much.
The service was pretty average, nothing bad happen but it was just ordinary (didn't match the quality and pricing). They didn't know the wine list. The wine on offer is a terrible selection. Not enough real wines on there. You cant have a wine list and not have at least one Barossa valley Shiraz. You seem to pick the average regions and then not the type of wine that region is actually famous for. You want to be quirky and have a different selection fine but have some strong base wines everyone knows like cab vav and shiraz.
Overall the food is good but the overall experience is not good value, your milking every drop and its obvious then to top it off you asked for a tip at the end.
The food was amazing. The staff are very friendly and very efficient at what they do. They made our night!!
Great menu, lovely wine and a really comfortable modern ambiance.
Exceptional dining experience worthy of its current top ten Brisbane restaurant ranking! Foods you know prepared and presented very differently not just for the sake of it but because it makes them next level better. Service was knowlegable, enthusiastic, attentive and genuine by every different staff member we encountered. A worthy special occasion venue and if you stick to the herbivores side of the menu actually very affordable experience for a restaurant at this level.
Great food with interesting yet delectable flavours. The service was outstanding.
I gave service a 3. They have a 90-minute time limit for 2 people, which is not long enough. We ate at a steady pace and felt rushed to leave at the end of our meal.
Couldn’t have been better. Exciting every time a new dish came out - didn’t know what to expect as we had the set menu leaning towards vegetarian. Party of 8 and everyone was extremely happy with everything.
The food was outstanding and the service was very attentive. Whilst only a small menu the dishes are perfect. The broccoli is to die for.
fabulous, my new favorite restaurant. go there people it's a lovely experience.
I cannot fault this restaurant, table of 9 set menu accommodating to all our requirements and an abundance of food. You won’t be disappointed!
I cannot speak highly enough of both the food, and the service. We had Jorge as our waiter and he was just fabulous! We enjoyed his just as much (maybe more!) than the food. He made us feel comfortable and welcome, and was just a laugh riot!
Food was delicious, our waitress was wonderful and attentive. Great night!
Only negative is that we were waiting to be seated for over 15 minutes due to another group of people who’s table had been given away.
If you are looking for delicious food that is not overly complicated Detour is the place to go. The fit out is beautiful indoors and the staff are friendly and helpful. The wine list is also great.
We were quite rushed with the 1.5 hour limit.. no time for more wine or dessert.. lucky we didn’t order a bottle
