When asked what we wanted to drink we both said "just water." We both also ordered Diet Cokes. When our bill arrived there was a $7 charge for water. I told the waiter we didn't order any any special water and he said "Did you drink any of it?" We both said we took a few sips. He said "if you drank any you have to pay for it." I told him I'm not going to pay for something I didn't order. He grabbed the bill and walked away. He returned, dropped the bill next to me and left, not saying a anything. The $7 water charge had been removed. Additionally I ordered a salad with "light dressing." The salad arrived drenched in oil. The restaurant is in the Peterson Museum and doesn't validate for parking, so add $10 to $17 more to exit the lot.
Absolutely love all of Celestino’s restaurants. But Drago Ristorante has a special place in our hearts. The best carpaccio, calamari fritte and carbonara. Excellent martinis as well. That it is in the Petersen Car Museum makes it a real delight.
Our waiter went above and beyond. He made our dinning experience exceptional.
Best Pizza in LA. Maybe best scallops dinner I have had. Museum is fun
A good menu, nice people watching if sitting on the patio. Wonderful servers.
Perhaps because this Drago restaurant is a) located inside a museum, b) small and c) not busy, the menu options are limited and the quality of the dishes is not as good as other restaurants in the Drago group. However, it is a quiet place, the clams and mussels in a tomato garlic broth with garlic bread is very good, as is the spaghetti with mixed sea food. Service and the kitchen are very slow due a small staff.
Multiple contacts to confirm our reservations, 2 texts and a phone call, only to have they’re phones forwarded to their other restaurant, no employees taking responsibility, weren’t sure if we were going to have reservations on Valentine’s Day or not. No call back as promised. Only to find the restaurant was only half full at most. Service was horrible, had to go to the bar for our own drinks, saw our waiter twice the whole night, mostly bus boys and hostess flagged down to get any service. Risotto was bland and tasteless, steak was dry, pizza was soggy and cold. All for well over $200.00!?!?
We eat there all the time because we work down the street and we have had a a couple private events both at the restaurant and upstairs. Our server was very nice snd the food was good. The only thing that was kind of annoying is that when we asked if the lights could be dimmed a little bit (it was already 6pm) the restaurant wouldn’t comply. Nobody wants to drink a martini in the evening after work in bright office like lights. Again, that was the only thing but it kind of killed the vibe.
Very modern, clean and great food and drink!
Antonello spoke fluent Italian and the food was authentic Italian.....
so delicious for a moment//an hour we felt we were back in Napoli (Naples)!!!
We will return
We were celebrating an anniversary
I love this Drago location within the Pedersen Automotive museum. My love of classic cars is a great prelude to my love of superb Italian cuisine. In fact the two should be combined in an afternoon. Both are very satisfying but Drago is more rewarding due to its ever changing variety of Italian dishes. Take the short ribs either in ravioli or traditionally braised; my favorite. Along with the branzino or a fruitti di mare, it makes for a fantastic evening.
I'm a big fan of Drago restaurants, and had never been to this one. This is probably the simplest dining room of all their restaurants, but hey, it's got the whole Peterson Automotive Museum around it! We went on a Sunday night, and it was practically empty, and therefore very quiet. We loved it! Being able to talk to one another in a normal voice was a rare pleasure. The food was everything I've come to expect at a Drago restaurant, as was the service. We felt welcome and appreciated. All in all, it was a very nice evenin g.
We enjoyed our meal immensely at Drago. From appetizers to main course, everything was delicious and service was great! It is a beautiful classy restaurant located inside the Peterson Museum and it was a pleasure to dine there.
The service and food were outstanding.
The idea of a restaurant in the stupid automobile museum doesn't appeal to me but Drago is conveniently located and very pleasant and good food. I would go again!
Hard to find, inside the Peterson Museum. Great food selections and oven fired pizza.
Top notch in every way
Food was excellent. Service was abominable. Certainly not worth the restaurant’s 5 star rating.
I have to say - I had read good reviews on Drago but our experience far outshone my expectations even from the best review! We were a party of 6 - 4 of us were very late(and had called to let them know) in spite of that - we were welcomed so nicely and our apologies were shrugged off and that was so nice. the others in our party were already seated, and our fantastic waiter was quick to bring us drinks and talk to us about the menu. About the service - I would give them 10 stars if I could - we had a team working our table so wine was always poured, water was always replenished, dishes were always cleared. We ordered the salumi platter and the calamari both of which were wonderful, the calamari was outstanding and we loved the little "Italian beignets" that came with the salumi - we were also gifted some bruschetta by the kitchen and that was ridiculously yummy as well as really really nice. Their pasta is all made in house so be ready for that! It was so good! We got a bunch of different ones so got a chance to sample quite a bit, LOVED the farfalle with pink vodka sauce, the taglioni with lemon and sea urchin, the special of the night tagliatelle with short rib ragu and spaghetti al frutti del mare. I will have a hard time choosing between them when we go back. Had the creme brulee and profitterolos for dessert - both outstanding. Were also comped glasses of a beautiful port. Keep in mind that tips are included for large parties, but our service was so good we tipped more. From the greeting at the door to the olive oil on the tables to the good byes and thanks we got - really good experience all around. Can't wait to go back.
Good Italian food.
After doing the auto museum this a perfect lunch ... lots of decent offerings ... food clean and thoughtful
My boyfriend and I went for our anniversary and we had a wonderful time. The service was great, the food was excellent, beautiful surroundings and we got to see awesome cars. We are already planning our next visit !
We came to Drago for dinner. What we have are Calamari, Ravioli di Carne, and Parma Pizza. And Tiramisu for dessert. Food was good, and the live music playing Jazz. Very nice experience. 👍🏻
Fantastic great location great way to combine the museum and great food
Service was terrible, my entree never arrived and they didn’t make it up. I had to share my wife’s meal.
Great food - authentic Italian. Attentive and friendly service. It fits in well with the atmosphere of the Petersen Automotive Museum. Highly recommended!
Very pleasant except for excessively loud music from a live band.
Wonderful service, great patio, delicious food! A bit overpriced.
We eat here every time we go to the museum and are very satisfied every time. There is something for every dietary need and the food is always above and beyond. Service is a bit slow but very friendly. Would definitely eat here more if we lived nearby. Kids always ask to come back and it's the highlight of the museum trip
Pretty fantastic food!
It’s a new place and there were very few diners. The food was very good and they even made something for me I requested not on the menu
This visit was a disappointment, unlike prior visits which were quite satisfying. The spaghetti polpette was OK but not exceptional. The ravioli with short rib filling was good but also not exceptional. We both initially ordered the lasagna, which I've had before and loved, but were told a few minutes later that the lasagna wasn't ready (we had reserved a table at 11:00 am, right when they opened) so we had to pick alternate dishes. Is this a properly managed restaurant? Also, when paying I left my parking ticket with my credit card for validation, but the server didn't bring back the parking ticket with the credit card and payment slips, so I had to flag him down to get it back. I was then told that the validations are obtained from the receptionist. The server should have taken care of this, rather than my having to wait and flag him down and then be informed where to get the validation. I do recall on prior visits that the server provided the validation ticket upon request.
Convenient location directly across the street from LACMA. Worked out very well with our Thursday evening tickets to a LACMA members lecture, since all LACMA food facilities close early on Thursdays.
The Petersen Museum parking charge of $16 was partly offset by a $6- Drago validation. Service was fast, food tasty, and we ate among a few vintage cars in the lobby. Too bad that the signage is so poor that most people don't know it's there!
We had been in town to visit my daughter and found this restaurant because it was close. Food and service were great. Not crowded at night because of their association with the Peterson car museum.
The food was an unexpected surprise. Terrific food on the patio. It was wonderful. Our waiter seemed a bit uninterested in his job. Instead of recommendations, he just kept agreeing that everything was good. Only came back once to touch the table. During the reservation process you ask if there are any notes. I noted we were celebrating our anniversary. Thought that was a nice touch to recognize a customer's special event, yet your staff never mentioned it upon arrival, at the table or while we were leaving. I didn't mention it to my husband. I thought it would have been a nice touch for him to be surprised of a mention, but no luck. If you're going to ask the question, maybe you should do something with that information. Personalized "happy anniversary" welcome would have gone a long way at no cost to your business. Missed opportunity.
The restaurant is very good, excellent food and service is also very good. Finally a restaurant where you can talk to the person in front of you without to much noise around! Go there and you will be happy!
Great spot for any occasion! Great Caesar salad, calamari, short ribs, pasta, & panna cota!!!
The place is pretty but the food is not as good as it used to be. I have been there twice recently and found it expensive and not worth it. Also parking at the Petersen is pricey and they only give a discount not validation. I won’t go again unless my dining partner insists
Ate lunch here after a tour of “The Vault” at the Petersen museum. Attractive restaurant off of the museum lobby. Delicious pastas and a good tiramisu.
Great service, huge portions and lovely ambiance. The fried calamari and the eggplant Parmesan appetizer were both standouts.
Our waiter was a delight. Great sense of humor and constantly checking on our comfort.
We shall return and try out the lunch menu.
