Drunken Fish - Power & Light District

Went here amidst the corona outbreak and we used Lysol wipes to clean the table before sitting down. Our wipes where black after wiping the table. I saw them cleaning other tables but obviously their cleaning product isn’t strong enough. Food was good as always though.
Date night dinner before a concert over at Sprint Center. Great food and great service. No complaints. Will return.
Edamame came out after our main dishes, waitress delivered wrong drinks. However, both were compensated for! They handled it well!
Celebrated my daughters 13th bday, food and service was fantastic!
Food was great!
Go here if you want reliable sushi that tastes uniform. Their rolls are presented beautifully but if you are into more complex flavors, I would try to find a smaller joint. This restaurant feels a little corporate, which I'm sure is due to high customer volume, but it shows in the decor. I am a foodie at heart and would prefer adventurous menus over generic flavors, which is how I am wiring this review.
as always, amazing food! staff is very friendly and helpful!
Overall experience was very good. Food was prompt and delicious. The waiter helped with explaining certain menu items to make ordering easier. Will be returning
My favorite Sushi place in town and I come a lot. This time we did not have the beat experience. Food was good but we had a 5:45 reservation and we didnt get seated for 30 min. There were many open tables but they just left us standing there. Finally they sat us down and crammed us in the tightest space where we couldn't even hear each other talk. It was our Anniversary dinner and we couldn't even enjoy a simple conversation.
This was second visit, Went for a specific dish and was not disappointed. Will certainly go again, and already have recommended to others.
GREAT FOOD!!! So good I think it’s the best sushi I’ve ever had!
Valentines is a difficult time for all Restaurants. Gordon was wonderful. He did an excellent job serving us. I was disappointed in the cost if the meal. $60 per person is ridiculous. I got a piece of chicken with a balm of rice. My wife got 18 small pieces of sashimi. We won't be returning. There are plenty of other quality places to eat that have a better cost effective menu.
The tables were extremely close together so we had little to no privacy. The calamari was frozen and thawed and fried. So no taste. Just flavorless jello consistency. Our server was amazing. That was the best part.
The food was amazing, a little pricey but worth it. Only thing that wasn’t great was the Shirley temple
Bruh this place good I like the sushi there a lot cuz it’s good.
Great dinner before a concert at Sprint Center. Server was awesome, sushi was really good. Great atmosphere!
We visited Drunken Fish on Tuesday evening, Feb 4th. Granted, this was the night before the huge KC Chiefs Super Bowl parade, so I think everyone in Kansas City was on hyper overdrive! We met up with some friends, and the ladies at the hostess desk were kind enough to combine our reservations and seat us all together, with minimal wait.
Our service was good, the food was delicious...and the noise level was very loud. Again, this could be because everyone was very excited...but I just want to mention this so you don’t go in thinking it’s going to be a nice, quiet place for a romantic date! It’s a great place to hang with friends, and toast the Chiefs!!!
The food and atmosphere was great. We were a little disappointed with the service. Our server took our order and didn’t come back until we asked for the bill.
Average sushi. It was January and their foyer door was open and the restaurant was freezing!
We came early for our reservation. Our table was ready but we were not seated till after our reservation time. Our Table was crammed in a corner, and very difficult to get to. Once seated, it took a long time to get drinks. One person in our party ordered a Miller light after 20 minutes the waiter came back and said they didn't have any cold, but the bartender was putting it on ice. After another 10 minutes, the beer was delivered but lukewarm. Our food took 50 minutes to prepare AND one of our orders was not delivered. The Waiter said that there was a BIG party upstairs and that the rest of our order would need to wait till after they were served. We finally got our food an hour from sitting down. the food was mediocre at best. The restaurant was loud and the tables were crammed together.
Wonderful experience with food that was very fresh and well prepared. Service was exceptional as well.
Nice atmosphere and food quality was good. Service was prompt and courteous.
Went for the NYE special. I was really excited to get their special NYE deal that included appetizer, salad, entree and dessert. I never got my appetizer or salad, so when he brought my entree I decided to just not get the entire special. I was bummed because I was looking forward to the whole package.
Also my entree was chicken teriyaki and it wasn’t any good. Everyone else’s rolls looked really good but I would pass on the chicken teriyaki next time.
Great waitress and excellent sushi. We’ll be back.
Slow service. Asked to be moved to darker spot and they told us no. Ordered drinks and bar tender was taking shots at bar but didn’t serve us ever. Talked to manager. Got 50% off but overall not a good experience at all. For sure going to NARA next time.
The service and food were excellent ! Biggest problem I have is with the restaurant's name, not a pleasant name to want to visit
Nice place, great service, calamari salad excellent
Decor and ambience not at all what I expected for a downtown KC restaurant. I could see a Pepsi machine from my seat through large glass window?? Menus were filthy. Was a quiet night and felt like I was eating dinner with wait staff who were just sitting at the bar. Waiter was great and food was great. Overall, I won’t travel down there for ambiance and will stick with local sushi.
We were seated upstairs, much quieter. Spent 2.5 hours on a leisurely dinner for my wife's birthday. Server was attentive but not overbearing. We enjoyed their Mojito's. Had apps, and dinner, and a free birthday dessert. All very enjoyable.
Ambiance was very good, we sat upstairs and it was very quiet and intimate. The food was fantastic! Get the lobster roll and eat the sauce that comes with it, it was AMAZING! We also had the potstickers, miso soup and three rolls. All equally delicious but the lobster rolls stole the show.
Definitely our go to sushi place when at the P&L.
The roll was excellent. My husband loved his roll and ended up finishing my udon noodles. The only other Drunken Fish we've been to was in STL. I liked the udon stirfry there better. The vegetables here weren't cooked well and the noodles didn't have a stir fried texture, there was so much sauce it almost seemed like soup. We also felt very rushed to leave and we were one of two tables in there. Everyone was polite but I don't think we will return to this location.
We loved this place! They took great care of us and the food was super! Great looking place, too--kind of a hip, urban vibe. We'll definitely be back.
Having never eaten at Drunken Fish, I was unaware of the noise level in the restaurant. I made the reservation for our party of 5, for a special Birthday, online. I requested a special table but read that you got whatever table was open and they didn't reserve specific tables. When we arrived, we were met, sort of, by two women who were obviously not thrilled by their jobs. They were unfriendly, dismissive, and agitated. We were seated upstairs (I believe because of our number) right outside the area where the waiters fix drinks, prepare bills, and have really bright lights on...the ambiance was really awful. We could not hear each other talk at all. She shouted to be heard. The sushi was fine. The tempura was absolutely tasteless and when I asked what the two sauces were that you could choose to dip the tempura in, I was told for an extra cxharge I could have them both. What I got was a tiny little dish that almost all of the sauce had spilled out by the time it got to my table. The waiter was rushed...we waited 10 minutes for our drinks. The food was literally dumped in front of us and no one ever came back to ask how it was or if we needed anything else and for all of this awesome service and food we got a whopping $170 bill. So, no, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
My only complaint would be the size of the tables. I felt we were squished in there.
Great atmosphere.
Always amazing every visit. My food came out incorrect and they fixed it promptly.
Celine Dion concert. Sat us right by the front door when it was freezing rain outside and their restaurant was empty. We asked to move which was an inconvenience to them. Service was poor.
The food was just okay and extremely overpriced. I would never eat here again. We have a place near home that is 10 times better tasting and three times cheaper. Don't waste your money at this place.

Made reservation for 6. Tried to seat us at a table in the corner by the kitchen. We requested a different table and we told okay but had to be done by 7 since it was reserved at that time. No problem since were going to a show. The waiter came with water but we were not ready to order yet so he said he would come back. 20 minutes later, he did and we placed our order. The waiter disappeared again until our food came out after 25 minutes without the salad I had requested. Food was good but we were starving by then. We asked for the check and it sat there with the credit card so long that we finally were pulling out cash when the waiter finally came by. Lousy service!
Every time we make it to the Power & Light District in KC we make sure to dine at The Drunken Fish. Great food offered at a fair price in comfortable surroundings is always nice but the wait staff takes the cake. We have never had bad service and are usually overwhelmed by the courtesy, politeness & service rendered. This trip was no exception. Thank you Marcus for helping to make out evening special. I recommend Drunken Fish to all who are visiting the area.
