Love this place. So glad we were able to go before all the restaurants had to shut down! We will miss this and can't wait until they can reopen!

If you want a never disappointing dining experience come here. It is my go to restaurant for hosting friends and family.

This is a usual spot for me an my husband. We've been going to Eastern Standard for years. They always have good food. The service is fantastic. The scene is lively. Great for groups, dates, meet-ups etc. I would order just about anything on the menu and they change it up regularly. They will also try to accommodate as best they can dining needs and/or special requests. The one thing that we feel could continue to be improved is the wine list. While there are a number of interesting selections, sometimes it's hard to tell because they can be so unusual. Having a few standard known good go-to selections that more people might recognize, could be useful. That said, we can usually find a good option with the help of their knowledgeable sommeliers!

Nice spot to grab breakfast. Not the most variety on the menu but we enjoyed everything we had.

The service was incredibly slow. No one checked in on us after our meal was served. The sides under the trout were literally cold yet the trout was hot. The water was only filled once or twice and it was warm.

But the side salad with citrus dressing was delicious!

I’ve eaten there several times and have enjoyed it immensely so I was incredibly disappointed this most recent visit. I will not rush back.

Great food and service. I rarely book a table when alone, however when accompanied it’s better to do so. I like the daily specials. The ambiance is always wonderful.

Our server Chen was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and got us very excited about our food choices- which were all excellent (especially loved the Rohan duck special). Nestore the manager helped us pick out a great bottle of wine in our price range and checked in several times to enhance our experience. Will definitely return for future meals

Special of the night was venison- no flavor, tough. Cioppino had little flavor, loaded with squid. One scallop, one small piece of fish and two medium sized shrimp. They did take the venison off our bill. Wait staff was excellent despite the entree recommendations which fell flat for us. Oysters were good as well as the special beet salad. Didn’t want dessert. Too pricey for the food. Sorry - had wanted to try this place for long time but won’t be back.

Fantastic Valentine’s Day After dinner. I love the visual experience here, the service is always top notch and the food choices excellent as well. This night Eastern Standard exceeded even our prior experiences. All food choices were great; Steak Frites, Short Rib, Moules Frites and the Rigatoni. What pushed us over the top was the wine experience, we ordered a Zin we knew and liked and when that was gone Vanessa the Sommelier recommended a Tempranillo that was absolutely delicious. We had an enjoyable conversation and she was just great! Well-informed, charming and gracious. We’ll return!

We always come to eastern standard when staying in the hotel commonwealth , the food is always excellent, the service top notch, we love going to the bar after a play
The bartenders make drinks the way you’d expect a drink to be made . Hats off to all the servers you can tell they work as a team .

The drinks were excellent and creative. The dessert was outstanding. The entrees were lackluster at best. Over cooked scallops were rubbery, entree options were not creative, and dishes were over priced.

The food and ambiance are great. The service staff are easily frazzled and disorganized.

My hamburger was overcooked and so i spoke to the waiter who saw the burger and noted that it was overcooked. He then asked if i would like to send it back?? i responded, yes of course as that was why i called him over. My wife had the scrambled eggs with sausage. The sausage came out cold as it did for my friends who ordered the same item. I had to call the waiter over for more coffee, he only checked on us because i called him over due to the overcooked burger. We have been to ES many times and this was just awful food with poor service. We will not be returning to ES

Very limited & pedestrian menu. Out of the weekly special by 8pm. Fabulous bar & bar bites. Great service at the bar. Ordered steak frites. Steak came out some perfectly but frites were a tad underdone. When I mentioned this, a large new piping hot platter of frites came out to replace the others.

The problem was the food. I ordered the scrambled eggs. The sausage was not freshly cooked. It must have been sitting around for some time as it was very tough and almost impossible to cut. The potatoes were lukewarm and not crispy. The toast was a very small slice of bread that was hard, stale and cold.

The chef brought out some pastries and desserts because it was my anniversary with my girlfriend, a beautiful and amazing touch by someone who didn't have to do anything at all

So E.S. for me is easy. I teach at BU. It's convenient. The food and wine are good. The thing that always gives me pause is the noise level. When we come for business, we need to hear people at the table and it's always predictable in the decibel level. I understand you want an "energetic" feel, but it's sure awful for dinner.
