Eddie Merlot's Prime Aged Beef & Seafood - Ashburn
Everything was greater than great, especially given the current problems.
We went for the steak and it was so disappointing. I got a $50 ribeye that tasted like char and had absolutely no flavor. My husband got the bbq salmon and said the spinach and potatoes that accompanied his salmon were bland and flavorless.
I took my steak home and reheated it the next day and added a lot of salt and pepper which did nothing for the flavor. I wound up throwing it away because it was inedible.
The service was good and the ambiance was ok. We won’t be returning. The meal was definitely not worth $150.
We thoroughly enjoy coming to Eddie Merlot and always enjoy the ambience and the food. Last night was no different with a few exceptions. A group of four, we found the filet, the plank salmon, the halibut delicious and cooked to perfection. The exception was the prime rib which despite ordering medium rare and emphasizing the rare aspect, the steak was unfortunately overcooked. We don’t know if that was the fault of the chef or the server who might not have accurately passed on the order. The appetizers were delicious....the shrimp cocktail and the calamari! Another exception to perfection were the Parmesan Truffle Fries which were soggy, not crisp. Unfortunate because we have had them perfectly cooked in the past...just not lately the last several times.
Service was quite slow; the server was new but she was trying hard and honest about her inexperience and that makes up for a lot. Noise level grew uncomfortable as time passed.
But all in all we like Eddie Merlot very much and will be back.
Thank you Dave - great service.
This was our fourth time visiting the restaurant, and our past experiences were always excellent, however this time was very lackluster & disappointing. We were sat in the room next to the bar, and the bar noise carried through and it was very loud, which made our conversation at our table difficult. While we understood that the waitress was new and in training, The whole meal experience was very very slow and we were not served at the same time so that we could enjoy our meal together. There was a lot of confusion on our order And we felt like we were interrupted way too many times during the course of being served. My soup was barely warm and the steak was almost rare when it should’ve been medium well. We will come back again and hope the experience is on par with the price point of the restaurant.
First time there for our anniversary. So many friends had raved about EM so we thought we'd give it a try. Asparagus was over cooked and soggy rather than having some crunch to it. Our steak was cooked perfectly medium on the inside but a little tough on the outside. My husband and I were a bit confused about the decor, wasn't sure what kind of theme it was going for. We will be going back to Ruth Chris or trying other steak house restaurants. Another thing that bothered us is that the GM that night said "Hello, how's everything?" as he walked by our table. Not bothering to stop and converse or even get any kind of answer from us. And no, the night was not busy at all.
Asked for a medium rare ribeye, got a black well done rib eye. Have had better sautéed spinach at restaurants for half the price. Ahi Tuna was as good as anywhere else though.
Our server Laura did an excellent job. The food was very good. Not rushed at all.
Great service. Reservation was on time and overall experience was solid. Would definitely go back.
Long wait for food. Seemed understaffed. No manager interactions.
Going to Eddie Merlot’s is a big splurge for our family. The restaurant is very clean and beautiful. The bread is delicious but that is the high point of the meal.
We had two servers. One was extremely slow and the other was very pushy and tried to up sell everything to the point of being obnoxious.
The cocktails were fair. The food was absolutely terrible. The shrimp were inedible, the steak was flavorless, the brussel sprouts were greasy. We will not return. Not worth the very hefty price tag. DC Prime, Eddie V’s, Capital Grill, and Morton’s are all far superior in my book.
Just ok on steak ... wine was great ....dessert very good but too big
The food was outstanding and a little noise with some small children and party next to us. Service and ambience was impeccable.
Not worth the $200 tab for the entire meal.
I understand it was a big holiday, heading in we were expecting some delays, but our server Chris never offered us bread to hold us over until appetizers(although we heard him offer other tables around us he served) and we had to ask another server who was nice enough to bring some over.
Our food arrived cold, I had the scallops and added the 4oz filet to make it a surf and turf, while my significant other had a 7 oz filet. Both cuts of meat arrived cold, my filet was not done well and dry. The asparagus we ordered was mushy and we asked for another batch, which was better the second time around.
Overall even though we knew it was going to be busy going into dinner, i would rather sit at the bar and hopefully get my food order correct the first time around.
Only downside was in that our food came out very fast
Saturday of Valentine's Day weekend, perhaps only to be expected that wait staff was overwhelmed - every table was full. So service was iffy but food was fantabulous!!!
Had a relatively new server, who was energetic, friendly, and whose (few) shortcomings we're overcome by these attributes. I had a NY Strip that needed a bit more heat - they brought a new one that was even tastier, and cooked perfectly. My wife had very tasty scallops. All in all, a very enjoyable Valentine's Day dinner.
Good food and service. Good atmosphere.
Wonderful experience. This was our first time dining there and we will definitely be returning often. It’s going to become one of our favs considering it is close to home. Typically we go to Tyson’s or DC. Now we have a closer option. Thank you
It was my husband’s birthday and I was surprised even after making the waiter aware that he didn’t acknowledge it in any way - verbal or even written on the dessert we ordered and paid for. Food was good.
My friend and I had a great Galentine’s Day dinner on February 14th. When we arrived, we were told that there was a 15 minute delay in being seated (which was to be expected on one of the busiest days to dine out in the year). The hosting team worked diligently to make sure the people ahead of us were getting seated as quickly as possible, and we were seated before our newly quoted timeframe.
My friend ordered the Wagyu ribeye that was cooked perfectly medium rare. She said it was the one of the best pieces of meat she has ever had, and the Béarnaise sauce on the side was a delicious pairing. I had the scallops served on top of a purée with peppers: a great creamy/spicy contrast to the naturally sweet scallops.
Dessert (crème brûlée) was more than enough for one person- it was a solid choice with a nice sugar crust that you can crack with a spoon.
My friend and I had a delightful gastronomic experience, and we are already planning for our next visit.
To start, the server kept trying to up-sell us on every singe thing we ordered. It was beyond rude. She had a ‘know it all attitude’ and I said to her at one point, ‘I like what I like’ and she still did not get it. The food was ok but not worth the price. I could have had a better meal at LongHorn. How do you mess up creamed spinach? Even though the food was mediocre, I was excited for dessert. But, when I ordered it, the server said it was going to take 30 min to prepare and tried to talk me into a different choice. I threw in the towel at that point and left. I will never go back and would not recommend it to anyone. The food was not worth the price and the service was the (lack of) icing on the cake.
the food was great service was great I will be back again soon.
Really enjoyed the atmosphere, very comfortable. The appetizers and deserts were amazing, but the entrees were just ordinary. Definitely planning to go back, but will probably just make a meal of the appetizers and save room for desert
We ate here on Valentine's Day. We were not impressed with the quality of food. We picked the calamari for our appetizer. It was very sweet and too soggy. It was like eating sweet and sour chicken. The main entrées were bland. For the money, it was not worth it. We prefer Capital Grille for quality and value when it comes to a steak dinner.
Beautiful venue. Terribly overpriced.
We had a wonderful Valentines Dinner at Eddie Merlot’s. Robert our server was excellent. He made some excellent recommendations that we tried. We started with an excellent Waldorf salad. We also had steaks and scallops. Finishing off with a pineapple cream pie that Robert recommended. Everything was cooked to perfection! We requested to sit at a booth in OpenTable which Eddie’s provided. Wonderful experience. We will be back!
I went to Eddie Merlot for my 48th wedding anniversary on 2/12/2020. My husbanded wanted to go there because we went there once before when they first opened. We arrived about 6:15 PM. We placed our order and service seem good at first, but it went down hill from there. About 1/2 hour after we arrived, two tables of about 20 plus people came in for dinner. Two tables of 4 came in and a table of 2 came in. This was all 1/2 hour to 45 minutes after we arrived. All those tables were severed their meals before us. No explanation was given. It took at least an hour or more for dinner to be served. I ordered a 20 ounce lobster tail that cost over $70.00 and it was raw when severed. I had to send it back. Also, all the tables were served bread, which we did not receive any. The cost of the meal was well over $250.00. I did not want to make a fuss because it was my anniversary. This was just the worst experience and I would not recommend it to anyone. One other thing, the waiter was like a car salesman. He kept trying to get us to order more things than we needed or wanted. I wanted the dinner to be special, but it was not at all special. I don't know how kitchen's work, but we forgotten and were severed expensive food that was not cooked correctly.
Second time here because we liked it so much the first time. There will be a third!
Wayne took great care of us as we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary!
Favorite spot to celebrate special events - great cocktail and wine list, good variety of meals (all delicious), carrot cake is the best!
Had an excellent dinner at Eddie's! We started with cocktails and wine and shared the wedge salad. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and we shared the cauliflower gratin which was delicious. After dinner we enjoyed dessert and coffee. All very good!
Excellent as always!
Food was great. We did the Chateaubriand for two. It had great flavor and was cooked to the temperature we specified. Service was attentive but not overbearing.
Always a good time. Staff was excellent
Overall, the experience was good due to the excellent service provided by our waitress, Meg, and the rest of the staff. The food cane out a bit less hot than we would typically prefer, which was a bit of a misstep. Also, you could see where the staff had attempted to wipe some sauce that splattered to the edge of one entree plate. The ambiance is a little different than the typical steakhouse. There is literally a big screen TV within eyeshot of every seat in the restaurant. All of that being said, we would give Eddie Merlot’s a 2nd chance, but only if we can sit in Meg’s section.
Lost our order and took 50 mins to receive food. Both entrees were cooked incorrect. One of the two recooked entrees was the wrong meal all together. The manager had no idea what was originally ordered and what was recooked.
For a restaurant that serves prime cuts of steaks, they have no clue how to cook them properly especially for the prices your paying.
It was great to try something new and enjoy every bite.
I have to admit that I was skeptical going in. But the food was very good and the service was excellent. Great wine list too.
