AMAZING!! What a gem - will definitely return when I pass through again!
If you are training your students for an elegant restaurant, many changes need to happen. Edgar's
could be the most talked about in Georgia. People would not mind the prices. There needs to be 1 special room that is elegant and sparkily for special ocassions. The women would love to have dinner in that room. Then another small, elegant room would be added. That would give you 2 rooms for training your students on different levels of knowledge.Everyone would love to work in the Elegant room. The elegant room would put the napkin in your lap for you like Natalies did. They also whipped the crumbs off the table with a brush and tray. They pulled out the chair for the lady. I only went 1 time but I learned a lot about what fine dining should be. I have many ideas Like the couples picture being made and the couple takes it home with them. I had a friend with a little girl age 4 and a son 6. They asked me if I knew of a place where they could dress up in evening dresses and suits .The people are waiting.
This is the beat kept secret in middle GA! Always great service and delicious food.
We love it and the staff was great. We're coming back for dinner!
Have already mentioned my FABULOUS experience to many people. The food was the best I've had in a long time. Would recommend over Natalias, Downtown Grill, Marcos... Wait service was perfect.
The egg roll appetizer was fantastic. And so were the fish tacos.
It was Easter brunch and we had a delightful time. My only complaint was not having our plates bussed as quickly as I would have liked, but overall everyone was really nice and helpful. The kids and I decided we want to become regulars!
Awesome as always. Easter buffet with 2 carving stations, complete brunch spread of choices, 8 divine desserts, custom omelets, bottomless mimosas! Wonderful meal and no dirty dishes.
Lovely Easter treat with our oldest daughter. Hospitality of staff was tops.
Great experience! I had to change the reservation time at the last minute, and Marc (Mark?) was very accommodating. Food was very good; service was excellent.
Price did not match the food that was served over priced for what you served on your Sunday brunch $28.00
Excellent food and marvelous service. Great experience from start to finish.
Service was slow. There were many specials, but they were not printed on a menu so it was hard to order. Once I ordered, I was told they had run out of food... at 7:30...
My food was bland. Nothing special about this place. I was expecting so much more.
The shrimp appetizer was delicious. We each ordered a different dish. The bass I had was good but a little fishy tasting. It was served with delicious sliced sweet potatoes. One friend had a trout special that she liked, another had mango chicken with coconut rice and said it was good and the other very much enjoyed her shrimp and grits. There was a musician playing and singing. This place is a training facility for students entering the food industry and it can be a bit quirky. We all enjoyed the waitstaff and found them to be sincere and enthusiastic. One young woman was to graduate soon and had plans to open her own restaurant. She told us about the building and her plans—easy to feel excitement alongside her. There was a man with an accent who stopped by our table multiple times with corny jokes. All in all it was a fun dinner. The portions are large and the prices are good. I always feel like I am doing a good thing when I dine here—so go and help a student hone their skills!
We were on the way home to Chicago and found this culinary delight outside of Macon GA. The food, service, craft beer was impeccable. It was close to the interstate and truly a gem.
We are coming back. The food, service and music was perfect. How often can someone say that.
The service and food was superb. The wait staff was respectful and kind and timely. I would highly recommend to anyone.
Disappointed that there were not many people there. Hope they publicize. It is so good that we want it to continue every month. Plan to invite 2 more friends next month.
I'm a big fan of the restaurant and have eaten there several times over the years. This was my first valentine's dinner there & it was an underwhelming disappointment. For the price of $80 we both had a small salad, an entree apiece, & a dessert sampler. Horrible menu & good for the bucks. Can honestly say I would've been better at Longhorns. I will be back at some point & hope that was an anomaly & not the new norm!
I love the concept of Edgar's Bistro, pairing with the culinary school. The atmosphere is inviting and romantic, great for Valentine's Day dinner! We had a wine pairing with each course, starting out with cherry glazed duck salad with balsamic vinegar dressing that paired perfectly with the suggested wine. I had the red snapper which was light, perfectly breaded and fried, with risotto and green beans, and my wife had the chicken normandy, loving the sauce and scalloped potatoes and green beans that accompanied the chicken. The fish was paired with a medium, crisp sauvignon blanc and the chicken dish was paired with a hearty pinot noir, and both went perfectly with the dishes. Everything was delicious, right down to the dessert trio paired with a delicious mascato. The staff provided excellent service and were very attentive and accommodating. We will definitely revisit and support the culinary students as they complete their education while working in conjunction with Edgar's Bistro! Job well done!
Food wasn’t the best but the staff are so attentive and kind. They try very hard to please
Wonderful food & service.
The brunch was very delicious. I recommend it to anyone.
Everything was amazing, from the food, drinks to the service. We will definitely come back!
We had an amazing time at this unique place!!
Excellent range of food options; very creative blends and excellent quality and quantity. A very good value proposition. Alcohol selection is limited and less stellar than the food. Location is off the beaten path but worth the drive.
The food was fantastic! My wife and I loved it, and will definitely be back
Delicious food, outstanding service and great prices. I'm glad it's off the beaten path so you don't have long waits or have to dine in an overly crowded restaurant. The online reservation system is ideal. My husband and I really enjoyed our dining experience and plan to return soon.
We were delighted with the outstaning service and excellet food. The wait staff were exceptional and very friendly. It was delightful dinner and a place we highly recommend. Good menu selection and okay on wine choices. Price is very reasonable for great quality and service. We recommend you try it!
Loved the shrimp tacos and found the restaurant delightful. So interesting to meet the students and learn about the culinary program at Helms College!
It was exceptional it was a first for my 2 guest and they love it and plan to come back
The food, staff and ambiance at this restaurant were superb. A definite treasure in Macon. Try it, you will not be disappointed!
I've eaten here several times over the past few years. Food and service are always exceptional, and your prices are very reasonable.
Had to wait on the various courses. There was no continuity or flow between them. They ran out of cheeses for the cheese board, and ran out of desert. It seems that even though everyone had reservations, there was a lack of planning and preparedness. The food was good.
Great place, food was excellent prepared by chefs. Great Menu and very reasonable. Seems this place is a secret. Nice to find a restaurant like this
Dinner started out well, but went down hill from there. We arrived at 6 pm and were promptly seated. We ordered dinner 10 minutes later but despite the restaurant being nearly empty, it took 20 minutes for our appetizers to arrive, around 6:30. Our server stopped by our table around 6:45 to let us know our dinner would be coming out in about 15 minutes. We didn't get our main course until 7:05. I would be willing to bet that she realized she never placed the rest of our dinner order and that's when she put it in the system. The tables behind us were seated after we were yet received their appetizers and dinners well before we did. Our sever mentioned she had only recently started which leads me to believe that she was a) not trained properly, b) just didn't give a crap about the service she provided, or both a and b. I had to ask the other server who was helping the tables behind us to track down our server because she was MIA most of the time. As far as we could tell, we were her only table, but not once did she ask us how our dinners were or if we needed anything. I don't expect a server to be hovering at my table just waiting for me to need something; however, I also don't expect to be treated like I'm not even there.
Awesome dining experience! We were on our way home from Florida and just happened to find Edgar's- it was fun!
NOT KID FRIENDLY. They only have one highchair and no booster seats. They also lack a kids menu offering and don't bother asking about off-menu, if it's not on the menu they can't do it. What amazed me most about this part was asking for milk for the kids to drink and being told they don't have it. Milk which you would think in any restaurant would be in the fridge for a hundred other reasons than to drink, wasn't available.
We had a party of six, they acknowledged when we walked in that they had the reservation in the system, yet they wanted to seat us at 3 separate tables (did I mention the young kids) and we had to ask for the tables to be brought together. Sidenote - If you are going to try to make it a ritzier joint, spend some money on the tables.
Don't bother asking for more rolls either, after they were FINALLY brought out, I thought we were on the Soup episode of Seinfeld when the waitress told us that the 4 rolls (note I said 6 people in the party) were all she was allowed to bring us with the Chef making the call. After offering to pay she brought out two more rolls.
After being there an hour, the food finally showed up. In a busy restaurant this would be understood, but there were no more than a dozen plates served while we were there. For the small menu, you'd think they had to order it in from somewhere else and then plate it up for how long it took.
Also despite the waitress correctly repeating the order back to us, one of the side items wasn't right and that took another 15 minutes to correct.
The crazy thing is that we gave our feedback to the waitress and host who both pleaded with us to put it out there because apparently this has been an issue.
Completely understand that this is an applied learning environment (we did do a considerable bit of research before making the reservation and knew this up front) and while the students were on break, ultimately they need to be familiar with serving different audiences and yes even children.
I had the collard greens with fried whole okra and the hotcakes without the fixing. It was great!
