El Camino Cantina The Rocks

It's a great place to catch up with friends with a fun vibe but the food lacks flavour and shows a lack of effort. We ordered the tacos, Queso Blanco and the burrito bowl with the fillings being achiote chicken, mushrooms and black beans. Fair to say that if I do go here again next time, I'll probably just go for the drinks, the vibe and the service.

The restaurant closed before my reservation time. They told me that they always close at 9:30 (OT let me book a 10pm reservation) and moreover, that they were unaware that they accepted OT reservations.

First time eating there. It’s was a fun atmosphere food was really good margaritas went down well only down fall was the menus were sticky and one of our guests received there meal 10min before everyone else in saying that though it was very busy.

We went with our son and his 3 children for Fathers Day celebrations, we also have been several times before. The service and food is always great, it’s not too costly but what we like most is how comfortable and welcoming the restaurant is. Staff are lovely, we arrived 10 minutes early and it was not a problem, the staff are very friendly to all of us and there is something on the menu for everyone.

We were one of the first tables in the dining room. Servers were friendly but we had to ask where my margarita was as 2/3 food had been delivered. the margaritas are tasty and good value but hard to drink without a straw and so we had to flag someone down to ask for one. in the end, I didn't have time to finish it ( it came so late and hard to drink) we had to wait a while and ask if the last dish was coming as we were waiting to eat together. the server didn't say the usual " the rest of food is coming" so we just waited then had to flag someone down again. We are not difficult customers and felt bad each time we had to get a hold of someone. there is no expectation of a tip here in Sydney but if we were anywhere else, this would be close to no customer service. Not once did anyone come and check on us.

the free nachos were nice but not sure if it made up for rest of the uncertainty with the meal.

the whole thing was a bit of a let down, but we were in at 5pm on a monday with our 2 kids, not young childrn and maybe not their usually clientele- if this is their way of telling us not to return. you accomplished it.

Music was very loud all over with no options for an area where you could hear each other. Good was great and service was good.

Great vibe at an amazing venue

We reserved a table but they sat us in the bar where there wasn’t any table service. We didn’t realise this until we waited 15mins to get someone’s attention and they then told us no table service in the bar area. I’ve been here before and loved it but all the staff working that day seemed like they didn’t want to be there. Not sure if I’ll eat there again after this experience.

We set ourselves down as we waiting to be seated and no staff member was bothered assist us to a seating area. The food was tasteless And of poor quality the service had taken very long our food was not ready for 27 minutes after ordering and what’s the bill has arrived we were overcharged by $17 I was very upset as I had out of state guess that was looking forward to a traditional Mexican experience

Fabulous lively restaurant with very friendly staff. They had a problem with our open table booking, as they never received it, but found us a table anyway.

Good fun and good atmosphere

Very noisy and unpleasant - like a massive food hall with crap music.

Food was very very average considering the prices. Wait staff were friendly but forgot items we ordered, didn’t bring water to table, table water stank, corn tortillas dry and crumbled. Tacos fillings were not good at all, salty and very poor. Great place and amazing tequila menu but the rest needs a serious review. Can’t believe Neil Perry has this in his portfolio, the food quality is so far from his standards and what he writes, cooks and believes in.

Worst experience of my life! Harassing staff, bad food, no value for money banquet and an extremely rude assistant manager. Can’t even rate it a one star.

We went to El Camino for my daughters birthday. Food was great. A bit noisy. Maybe a tad expensive. But would recommend it. One of our guests was vegan so he was able to choose foods to suit.

Good for a group and the service is ok, but we had an issue with the food. One of our party who has a severe gluten allergy was served the wrong meal, despite being careful and clear with her order. I'd be more complementary of this venue if the staff and kitchen were more careful, especially concerning food allergies.

Was expensive for what was delivered. There's many other wonderful Mexican restaurants in Sydney I'd be happier revisiting.

Unfortunately the service was quite bad. We were left at the table without drinks and unable to catch the eye of staff without actually getting up from our table to get someone which we had to do at least 3 times. A bit disappointing.

We had an amazing time here last night! The vibe was awesome and just sets the tone for an amazing night. Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to have fun!

Service generally always a bit slow, its a good place to perfect the art of either catching the waiter/ess eye or being a memorable table! Food good but can be hit and miss, head sized beers and margaritas always a good time.

Love the Happy Hour deals. Food is great. No possibility of conversations as the music was very loud.

Great vibe, loved the ghost chili chicken wings and huge margaritas. Wall art is awesome and there's an old 1950s Juke Box for free plays. Don a sombrero and get into it guys!

Overall a very good experience but disappointed when I was told there was some "corkage fee" of $4 per head for birthday cake. When I did my booking I've asked if I could bring a cake but my booking was confirmed without any mentioned of that specific fee. The waitress was kind enough to reduce it to $3 per head. The situation could've been different if I was notified instead of learning about extra fee on the spot. 😡😡😡

The service here is terrible.
Booked for a large group, when we arrived were seated at 2 separate tables as the table they had allocated to us wasn't set for enough people.
After sitting down we then were told to move again because we had been seated at the wrong table.
The wait staff made up more tables and then we had to move over to another table that should of been set up to begin with. The staff we rude and unprofessional.
Food was average, nothing special and pricey for what came out.

I had wanted to try this place for a while and unfortunately it did not meet my expectations. The food was average at best and portions were small, the only good part was the margaritas, although they are expensive, they are also very large. The sangaria was also not particularly pleasant. Service was very slow and non-responsive.

Amazing Food & drinks, Amazing value for money

Great value for money on Taco Tuesday and Happy Hour margarita. So happy they do flavoured ones as part of the Happy Hour too as I only really like the strawberry ones and loads of places just do Classics in HH deals.

Th staff were quick to serve you without rushing you. Food was great and so were the margaritas! Overall a fantastic place to grab some food and drinks with friends and family.

Food and drinks order incorrect several times. Wait staff continually coming to our table for orders that were not ours.

Service was a little slow but understandable with such great deal!
The value for money is excellent and the food is delicious.

The drink menu is also excellent and adventurous!

Great for a group of friends/family

A fun spot with good Tex-Mex. Best hot wings I've had in Sydney, 10 cents each with a drink purchase on Wednesdays, an ABSOLUTE bargain! Great service, good vibe, just good all round fun!

Great food, great drinks and lovely decor. Was a hoot!

Food quality was extremely poor. We only ordered tacos (pork, chicken, fish)
They brought us out lamb which we hadn't ordered and weren't clear with what type of meat was in eat taco.

Went on a Wednesday night for the 10c wings promotion with a large margarita which was delicious. Food was served in a timely manner by friendly waitstaff. The restaurant had a really great vibe and lots of energy around the place. Definitely good value for money and place to hang out with your mates.

Food was fantastic and value for money amazing. Beverage service was quite slow, however we were a large group ordering cocktails.

I enjoy the drinks and the food

Good food at a reasonable price, the tacos and wings are always a hit. Most of the staff are attentive an helpful and the place has good music and vibe.
Beware though, ordering tacos in a big group isn't a good idea unless you are just ordering 20 of the same taco. Even if you order 3 or 4 (the taco holder holds 4)they won't be on one tray, they'll be all mixed up and you have to guess which are yours and be constantly passing them down the table. It's taco roulette !

Really cool setting, it is something different in the City kinda of like an American diner but fancy. I went for lunch and the food came out quick, the food is nice at a great price.

Music is grunge/rock music and the staff are friendly.

Overall I would recommend going to see a different type of place that is fun and has ambiance.

It would be a good place to go on a date or in a group.
