Best spanish restaurant in the city. Hands down top 5 restaurants in Toronto.
We selected El Tenedor’s tasting and wine pairing menu. From start to finish the meal was excellent, creative and unexpected. The food was delicious and flavourful. It is a small restaurant and is ideal for a special occasion or if you enjoy attentive personal service.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. It brought us back to meals we enjoyed in Spain.
If you’re looking for a creative, flavourful and enjoyable meal, come here. We will be back again.
The staff is so friendly! The chef /owner takes the time to greet everyone and answer any questions about the food and wine, and the servers are on the ball, making suggestions and willing to go the extra mile to meet your requests. The food matches the impeccable service, extremely tasty and the menu is well thought out.
An amazing experience, the food is outstanding as is the service and ambience. Chef Cesar is very talented and food is not only delicious but imaginative. Atmosphere is quiet, great for having a wonderful meal with conversation and great wine.
The menu is a bit misleading. This is not a tapas restaurant, they say that themselves, and indeed the "small plates" are too expensive for that. But the small plates are very small, and should then be called appetizers. We did not order any big plates, with hindsight we should have ordered big plates.
Absolutely delicious food, very creative and beautifully plated. The service was so attentive and the chef/owner is very friendly and welcoming. Our server for the night was wonderful and took excellent care of our table.
Celebrated my wife birthday there. We felt like the meal, the drink , the service was perfectly tailored to us. It was an amazing experience, she absolutely loved it, what a delight!
Sickest place for confit!
Fantastic ambiance with incredibly welcoming and caring staff.
Would recommend for any occasion, one of my favourite dining experiences in Toronto.
Excellent experience! Personal and wonderful menu!
Very special tasting menu with wine pairing! Sophisticated and elegant presentation and flavour! Ee especially enjoyed the tomatoes warm beet and goat cheese salads Try it, you will not be disappointed!
My wife and I go fairly regularly to El Tenedor. It is suitable for any of the occasions listed.
This is my 3rd visit to Toronto in 5 months and I’ve been to quite a few restaurants here, including CN Tower twice. El Tenedor is without doubt the best food I have eaten. Fantastic imagination and gorgeous flavour from the chef coupled with a very warm and pleasing service.
It’s the first place I will book on my next visit !
Food was perfectly delicious and the service impeccable.
My wife and I are self-admitted foodies and there are few restaurants in the Toronto restaurant scene which have it all; service, ambiance, elegance, and every course of the meal was spectacular. One of the best dining experiences we’ve had in any city.
Very small restaurant with only 5-6 tables. Space is intimate and attractive- almost like dining in a private room. Chef is very creative with Spanish and Basque recipes. Will definitely return.
Great ambiance, fantastic food and service thank you
Outstanding food and wine. The cured salmon with potatoe icecream is so clever and delicious. Cesar is an amazing chef
This is the third time we go to El Tenedor and we love absolutely everything! From the wonderful Chef Cesar to the calming ambience and soft background music. Only a few tables which makes it very intimate and quite. I cannot talk about the food as it is a must to try it. Difficult to express the perfection of the presentation to the delicate taste of their incredible dishes. One of the times we tried the “menu de degustación” and I regret not pairing it with the wines they suggested as my husband did. Superb! Just with the start of the evening with a warm sourdough bread and exquisites butters to the light and no so sweet desserts. We are fortunate this hidden jewel is relatively close to our home to make it our monthly treat :)
Can’t wait for next time!!!
Always a creative menu with great flavours. It’s been a well kept secret long enough! Word needs to get out about how good it is.
Excellent service. Delicious food. Portion size a little small, however being fine dining I completely understand. Definitely going back to try some other items on the menu
Lovely little restaurant, a quiet oasis, seeking out local ingredients. Chef and staff obviously care deeply about the food they prepare and serve. Interesting flavours. Beef cheeks were awesome.
The experience at el Tenedor was outstanding, the service was excellent and I really enjoyed the cuisine. Reminded me of a European dining experience with a blend of Spanish and French influence.
This is a very intimate place, limited seating book reservation in advance. Very pleasant staff. Food was excellent , attractive presentation. Did the wine pairing option, it was well worth it. Will be going back .
My wife and I had dinner at El Tenedor this past weekend. We had a lovely meal. The restaurant is small but comfortable. We were greeted to the chef and own, who attended to us throughout. For appetizers, we had artichoke with goats cheese and honey, salmon with caviar, and scallops in a tomato-base sauce and bonito flakes. For our main courses, we had a beef cheek stew and bacalao and potatoes. We finished with a lovely sherry and bread pudding. Wow! We will be back. Thank you, chef.
The food is outstanding as is the service. This is the third time we have visited this restaurant and it just gets better every time. Chef Cesar is very creative and every morsel if so flavourful. This is an absolutely charming intimate find, a real neighbourhood gem, just outside the noise of Yorkville. Would highly recommend.
The level of creativity brought to the food experience at El Tenedor is as high as it is tasty. Always a delightful experience here. Service excellent and attentive.
The food is spectacular. I go to Spain four or five times a year and this is the best Spanish food I have had for a long time! The chef and staff are adorable and the place is elegant and lovely. Don’t miss this before you can’t get in!
This intimate small restaurant was a delight to experience. I enjoyed a romantic dinner with my wife and felt like the staff treated like special guests the entire time. It was an experience I will definitely share with others.
The food was not just superb, but the creativity behind the dishes and serving was phenomenal. We also did the wine pairing and it was a blend it delicious wines served, not just Spanish. The Chef is personally checking on each table. Great place to go. Highly recommended
We came here on Father's Day. When we first enteted the restaurant, it was a bit warm. The air conditioning wasn't running at optimal temperature. We were greeted and brought to our table. The menu was decent and our family really enjoyed the food! Service was good so it made up for the slight discomfort. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant and will go back again for the food.
We just found this place on open table and wanted to try something new, glad we did! The food was amazing and creative and service was wonderful! Will be back again.
This restaurant is amazing! It offers a small but quiet space with only around 20 seats. The chef and waiters are incredibly friendly and the menu is amazing. They offer tasting menus with either 2 or 4 courses and I’m truly inspired by the quality and the creativeness of the dishes. I’ll definitely come here again if I visiting Toronto in the future.
Excellent Tapas restaurant. An undiscovered gem.
Very nice restaurant with pretty deco. Cozy with 24 seats. People there are friendly and give good wine and food recommendations! Food ingredients are fresh from local with creative cooking! Comparatively, wine is not expensive there. They will change tapas menu(Monday to Thursday) every month and has food and wine tasting menu on Friday and Saturday. Sunday is closed for for private event only. Hey, pick a date and try it!!
Absolutely amazing! The ambiance was perfect, the food was unbelievably exquisite. The best lamb I have ever had. I will definitely go there again.
We were entirely happy with our experience. A well executed limited menu.
This was our second visit. We expect to return on a regular basis.
Cesar and his staff do an amazing job! His approach to molecular gastronomy, deconstructed preparations and overall creativity should be embraced by Torontonians. Don’t be influenced by the plain nature of the outside of the restaurant and it’s location.
On the one hand I am glad I found this jewel not far from my house and I want Cesar to be successful. On the other hand, I’m not sure I want to let anyone else know about this piece of heaven (oops, too late).
If you are looking for excellent Spanish inspired food using local Canadian ingredients and a whole lot of creativity, it doesn’t get any better than El Tenedor.
We have tried both the tapas and the tasting menu and both were a pleasant surprise and something you might expect to see in a European Michelin starred restaurant.
Congratulations Cesar and thank you for bringing your creations to Toronto!!
Unbelievable! Everything about the experience was exquisite!
