El Torito - Marina Del Rey
33 minutes after ordering our dinners with no food on the table we started to walk out of a half empty restaurant, the manager found our dinners and comped our meals. However, it was unacceptable. The waiter never checked on our orders until we flagged him. I have eaten at El Torito before with good results. My experience this time was horrible.
Nicolas was our waiter and he was simply fabulous. He checked on us a few times and when he did it ..he had a welcoming disposition. Our glasses stayed full. The food was great and the ocean view seating was simply stunning.
Appeared to be short handed. Took 10 minutes to be able to tell someone we had reservations. Everything was fine afterwards.
Nice view food was delicious and the service was ok
I ordered the shrimp enchiladas and I was still hungry. When we arrived there was no host to greet us or to get our table, I asked 2 people for help and we were just left standing there. Finally someone came and the fact that we had a reservation did not matter as they were attending to another group without a reservation get seated and again we were left standing there. The El Torito on Ocean Park had better service and at least their bathroom was clean.
The view is beautiful. The food was good. The service so-so. We had to keep asking for refills of coffee and we all got our food except for one person and it took a long time to finally get her food. I was disappointed that it did not have the Brunch buffet that other El Torito's have.
The location is beautiful - every table has a view of the water and we were lucky enough to score a booth at the window. Another plus was how easy it was to get a reservation through Open Table on a Saturday night and to modify it when our plans changed. There were many parties waiting for a table when we arrived - it was hard to tell if they had reservations or not - and we had a bit of a wait for our table as well. It was a busy place with lots of families which was nice to see. The menu had many options - both for beverages and food - and the service was pretty good. We both ordered fajitas and were disappointed - the portion size was average, there were hardly any peppers (but plenty of onion) and no other condiments (like pico de gallo, sour cream, guacamole, jalapeños) were included. The prices were reasonable.
We were expecting brunch as was indicated on the website but apparently they don’t offer it anymore which was a huge disappointment to me and my party.
Excellent service. Excellent food. Excellent environment.
My food and the service was excellent I had a great time my wife and I.
Mediocre Mexican Restaurant, mainly for View to the Marina.
Really nice place, One if my favorite places to visit on special occasion
Excellent food and excellent service! Always a pleasant experience.
Food and service was excellent, great view of the Marina.
We went here on Christmas Day and felt badly for those servers who were working. However, place appeared somewhat shabby and our table did not have napkins or cutlery. We had to request it after our food arrived. I had a blended house margarita which was good and table side guacamole which was also very good. I ordered the Chili Relleno which was just ok. Didn’t care for the red sauce. Probably least enjoyable I’ve ever had. Hubby had cheese enchiladas. Said they were ok. Will not go back here.
This El Torito is right on the water with great views. Had our Christmas dinner there, place was crowded for a mid afternoon meal. But service was excellent and wait staff had great attitude considering they were working on Christmas Day.
The service and food were both good. We had a very nice Christmas meal there. The food was too salty for me, but overall a good time.
Location is perfect. Coffee was bad The waitress really didn’t seem to know or care about it. She offered to make fresh coffee and expected to refill cups with the fresh and bad coffee. Food was luke warm when it got to us. (45 mins later) Two plates eggs were not cooked well. My steak was supposed to be well done and it was medium rare. Food was dry unflavorful. At one point I ask for tortillas that go with the meals. She responded it doesn’t come with the meal. I look for the The menu and point it out. Then she offers to bring them. Never apologizing for it.
By the end we just wanted to pay the bil and leave. No dessert or any thing. One other thing she gave me a table to pay the bill and given her self a 20 % tip.
Never going back.
We love the one in Sherman oaks and in Northridge.
Our hostess Lorena and our server Ana were both excellent and took care of everything making for a wonderful evening out...thanks!!
Food was very good and how nice to have a view of the boats!
They did not honor our reservation
It was very pleasant, fun and service was very good!
Had a great time! Hadn't been here in years a d becoming here for lots of years.....
Good location and good food
Restaurant was busy and had to wait a while to be seated for our reservation. But they got us a nice table for 10 overlooking the water like we asked. Servers were attentive and friendly. Food was delicious and plenty. We ordered a variety and had a lot to take home.
Restrooms should be checked every hour as it was messy.
The ambiance was great. Our waitress was outstanding and most attentive.
We , had a great time, 2-issues.
1) we took a couple of picture and purchased them, was ready to pay for the pictures with credit card and t HD e guy took us it will be a $3.00 service fee, if I pay with a credit card? The pictures were purchase with cash, this is not right to charge me for using a credit card.
2) My Neice got a $63.00 dollars ticket because she back into a parking space. We didn't see any visible sign posted saying you can't back in to a parking spot
We were seated right on time. We had a table by the window. Great view. They took our drink order right away and brought us a basket of chips and 2 bowls of salsa. Fresh crispy chips and mild salsa. I ordered a dark beer and she ordered Kahlua and Cream. Giant heavy glass of beer. She enjoyed the Kahlua. We ordered the Macho Combo to share but somehow they brought 2 whole dinners. When we reminded him that we were going to share, he immediately took the other one away and brought us share plates. The food was well prepared, hot and tasty. Portions were large enough that even sharing, we left half of the tamale.
We were too full for dessert. With alcohol, the bill was only $44 including tax and tip. Just try to get a deal that good in Marina Del Rey anywhere else.
The restaurant itself really needs to be completely renovated (they recently refreshed it), so don't expect much from the atmosphere. It's very loud now, due to the tile flooring, and the restaurant looks old and run down - despite the updates. (Try to get permits opening the front windows for dock side outdoor dining!)
That said, the sunset views are beautiful and the food is actually really good! We go quite often and it is consistently well prepared. The service is great and the drinks are delicious too.
Food could of been warmer. Margarita was not hand made watered down buy a machine.
Great and fast service. Friendly and efficient
The staff makes this place! Great food view as well. A wonderful experience!
We were celebrating a friends birthday party and really enjoyed our food, waiting staff and vikew!!
Great fajitas just wish the mixed drinks were stronger!!
Beautiful views, great food, but very small. Restaurant is too small.
We love the locale by the water watching all the boats go by and the sunset as we enjoy our meal and great drinks.
