We really enjoyed our brunch at Eldorado Grill. We dined at 9:45 on a Sunday, and the restaurant was about 2/3 full by then. We appreciate a restaurant that accepts reservations for weekend brunch! Our server was attentive and friendly. We thought the food was delicious and of good value. We had the Huevos Rancheros, Benedict, Texas Two Step, and Seafood Enchiladas and everyone said they enjoyed their dish. Coffee was hot and refilled often. Thanks, Eldorado!
We have always loved the food and experience at Eldorado. We went last night for the first time since the pandemic began. A friend had given me a gift certificate for my birthday and we had been waiting to use it until we felt comfortable. We were excited to try their new menu and the two dinners for $65 special. First off, we had a wonderful server, Richard, who was more than willing to give advice on what to choose if stuck between two or more items. His advice was spot on and everything was amazingly good! The house made smoked salmon tostadas appetizer was incredible as were the steak picanha mains. Saved room for dessert and the tres leches cake did not disappoint. Will be back soon!
We enjoyed a Saturday brunch. Service provide by Grant was top flight. We will return and recommend Eldorado to others.
Brunch was great! Thought the Boozy Brunch value was darn good.
Disinterested server, overpriced fish, average chorizo, not like my past experiences here
The food itself was good however it's very expensive for what you get. If I wouldn't have had a gift card to use up I would not go out of my way to go there again.
Eldorado Grill has always been one of my favorite Madison restaurants. Recently, the menu has changed and the prices have increased. Although there is a large selection of salsas to go with chips, I really miss a classic tomato salsa and a classic guacamole. Many of the new salsa options are too sweet. Also, I miss the thin, fresh corn chips. The new chips are too thick.
Although the tostada options on the small plate menu are interesting, again they often have a very sweet element. Also the tostadas are only a good value during happy hour. Otherwise, they seem too expensive for the small amount of food that you get. My husband really misses the burrito which used to be on the menu.
Good experience overall. Food was very good as always. Service was a little slow but I give a hats off to the staff as they were working their butts off to serve their customers. I am sure they were short staffed too.
Service was outstanding!! Bloody Mary is my new fave in Madison! Told a lot of people about it. Good brunch menu options too!
The food was delightful and the employees were friendly and attentive.
We started the evening with cocktails at the bar - Old Fashioned made with Tequila. The drinks were good, although quite pricey. The hostess came and asked if we wanted to go to our table early, which we decided to do.
At the table, our server greeted us and wanted to know what we wanted to order. We weren’t ready as we had just sat down and the menu I received was only printed partially due to a printer error. He promptly got me a new menu and he explained that this is a brand new menu for them. My friend, who had eaten here before, asked if one of his favorite dishes was still on the menu. The server said it was not but that he has tried all the new items and thought they would be excellent for us. So we started with an order of chips and a couple of the salsas. The salsas were pretty watery and lacked the flavor we were expecting. After reviewing the menu, we chose a few “small plates” and a Peruvian Chicken entree.
Between the time we ordered and receiving our food, the server never came back to check on our drinks which sat empty except for some ice that I wound up chewing on. When the food arrived, everything came out at one time except for the Street Corn Tempura that I was looking forward to. The person that brought the food out looked confused at first and she went back and got the item. There was no explanation of what each dish was and there was a condiment plate that we didn’t know what it went with. Upon asking the server when he came around, he explained the condiments go with the Peruvian chicken and that there are tortilla’s under the plate in a bowl.
Tasting the dishes, we found everything seemed to have the same spices and heat and were quite underwhelming. I also felt the value for what we got was far less than one should expect. I would suggest they revisit their “new menu” and make some changes to offer more variety of flavors and a better value. In the end, we spent $135 for the two of us and we left feeling disappointed
Great vegan choices! Flavorful. Colorful. Plentiful.
Excellent service and cocktails. Food was good but brunch eggs could have been warmer.
Never had a bad meal here-consistently good margs. Service slowed only by lack of staff, but thats reality right now and a little patience goes a long way for those staff who are showing up to keep restaurants going. Well done EG!
Great innovative cocktails and delicious food. Smoked salmon tostones were excellent.
I have always loved El Dorado.... especially for brunch! Not a particular fan of their changed menu since reopening of Covid, but still good.
Great food and drinks; easy parking; 2 for $65 deal is great value for dinner
One of the gems in the Madison area.
Haven't been in a few years. Don't like the new menu; portion sizes were ridiculously small. Beans and rice served were not warm. Drinks were good but also very small. Don't feel the need to return.
We have gone to El Dorado for decades. Their drinks and food have always been excellent and the new menu continues that trend. Try the ribs or pork adobada! (That said, we do miss the smoked chicken enchiladas which we found both delicious and distinctive)
The refreshed ElDorado Grill weekend brunch was very nice. The brunch drink menu had something for a wide variety of tastes; the food used fresh ingredients, was well prepared, brought out hot, was well portioned, and most importantly, tasted great. Our server was very knowledgeable on the menu, offered great recommendations, was really pleasant, was responsive, and generally nice. Our experience was an all- around treat to start the new year. Please bring back the blue corn pancakes.
Amazing staff and the food came out so fast! Everything was delicious
The menu has been updated and we were sad to see some of our old favorites were gone, but we really enjoyed the new selections. Great experience. We are so happy Eldorado is open for business again.
Second visit to Eldorado with a small group versus 8 of us. Food is consistently terrific, as is the service. Our servers both times were personable, knowledgeable and excellent. Love the vibe!
Great brunch for a great price!
Our food was absolutely delicious- one of the best meals we’ve had in awhile. The service was also good. Will definitely be going back.
Food Fight has homogenized another restaurant. Elderado Grill use to be eclectic with southwest food. Now it has one entree per meat, seafood, etc. The catfish and collard greens are gone. The southwest twist is gone:) The night we were there at 5 pm-rap music was playing-way too loud. I was hoping for a nice romantic New Years Eve mood. The Margaritas used to be amazing. The one I had was watered down. It used to be my favorite place to eat in Madison! Now, I doubt if I will be back. So sad.
Short staffed, long wait at table. No water refills. Waited 20 minutes for drinks from the bar. Never offered drink refills.
Waited over 60 minutes for food. Food was good,. Overall not worth my time or money.
Staff and drinks were great, but the food was far from exceptional.
Delicious and creative appetizers and excellent cocktails. May be the best happy hour in town as well. Excellent service.
Food was outstanding!! First time there, will def go back!
Great food. Great service. Spread out enough to feel safe. Definitely a new favorite
This was our first visit back to the "new" Eldorado Grill. We were disappointed in the entrees we ordered. My wife had huevos rancheros and described it as not holding a candle to the old recipe. I tried to order Eldorado Eggs which I enjoyed many times in the past and was told that it is no longer available. This surprised me as it is clearly on your brunch menu on your website. I was told that the Eggs Benedict would be very similar. It was not. Nor was is prepared well. The chorizo was overcooked, The blue corn cakes were hard/too crispy and the poached eggs were hard, not soft and runny. We have decided to give the grill one more try before we decide not to return again. The service we had during a busy brunch time was very good.
If things are improved on our next visit, we may recommend it to a friend.
My new favourite brunch place in town. They allow for reservation so I get to eat brunch without having to wait in a line.
Was a wonderful meal with drinks. Highly recommend the Boozy Brunch. Food was well prepared as were the cocktails. We didn't feel rushed and our waitress was spot on with service. Will be back again.
Enjoyed our Sunday brunch (the Coca-Cola French toast was the big winner of our 3 orders) and the service was even better than the food. We will be back in the future, thanks
-Reservations allowed us to get seated 20 minutes past.
-The host was very amiable and explained the food well.
-Ordered the Eldorado margs w/ mezcal - oddly sweet. Then tried the Blazing Saddle (mezcal!)..but it was intolerably hot (and I love heat). Sent it back.
-Lastly, the food: disappointed ..the sauce portion completely outweighed the plates. It was WAY too spicy/ rich and resulted in a huge GUT ACHE the next day.
1. The fish tacos were decent
2.The pomegranate BBQ pork Ribs with peanut sauce? WAY too dressed up.
Meat was cooked well..but the sweet / spicy was completely overdone. A
little bit goes a LONG way, y'all!
3. THE TEXAS TORPEDOS : CAUTION! This 'small plate' was basically served
as our "desert." There was a reason they were stalling this plate .. and
whatever it was resulted in a GUT ACHE the entire next day.
If only service could make up for the food. Sorry Eldorados..I won't be coming back.
So many good choices with special brunch options. Adequate service and reasonable prices.
I did not love the Chilaquiles. It was all chips covered with giardineira.
Dinner for 2 was amazing. Blue Crab Tostadas, Barbacoa and Sirloin were delicious.
