Elephant & Castle Prince Street opened in Lower Manhattan in ’73 across from St Vincent’s Hospital where George had worked as an oncologist since the 1950’s. After two decades of short lunch breaks where he could never get anything he wanted to eat, finally he retired to a life of eating everything he wanted to eat, in his own restaurant with a special name. His passion and obsession for quality was infectious and E&C became a New York classic within a few years. Doors opened in a very different and quiet Temple Bar in January 1989 and by Summer of that year the queues had already started for our fantastic food and spectacular atmosphere!
Outside the world has greatly changed, but inside our swinging doors we try to keep things just the way they were.

    Always love Elephant & Castle but I wish, instead of a flat charge for the kids' meal, that we could just pay for a main course as my own kid doesn't drink cordial and often doesn't want dessert after a feed of your delicious goujons and fries 🙏

    One of my go to places to have lunch and dinner when visiting Dublin! Their chicken wings have always been a favorite of mine but their burger menu is very impressive!

    We came here after a recommendation from a good friend. The famous wings are at first sight to me as non vinegar friend a bit strange but after a few bites I liked it very much, maybe a bit to intense in my opinion. The burgers we had afterwards unfortunately weren't that special though. And the standard elephant burger and the fries that my girlfriend had, have been cold from the beginning. Otherwise it could have been a great meal. Service and drinks were very good.

    We love elephant and castle and have been going for years but today some Change in till/system got charged €10 for a side portion of pasta for a child we had only been there April 1st and these prices did not apply this really was our only complaint, waiter was not able to answer/respond until restaurant manager overheard what was going on. We will be back but think their system/till needs to be reviewed to allow for changes or alterations.

    Nice food, good service. Got a burger and wings, burger was messy to eat and wings over cooked a little. Flavours were there, though and was very tasty.

    Genuinely disappointed as loved the back story and seemed a cool place with what looked like good quality food in a great location. Ultimately style over substance - we both ordered the Irish breakfast - mine was stone cold and had to be sent back. Other than eggs it looked as if it had all been pre- cooked and taken off the shelf and barely re heated. When my breakfast came back it was basically the same - as if they really couldn’t be bothered with the effort which was a shame … especially for €16… I guess in a tourist trap they don’t have to worry about it!

    Steak and wings were excellent. Service was quick and friendly. The restaurant is brightly lit, clean and well decorated with interesting photography of New York City. I have been to other elephant and castle restaurants and my only quible would be that the Temple Bar restaurant is not as comfortable or spacious as their restaurant in the Mayson hotel.

    Food and drinks are low standard compared to the elephant & castle on North Wall Quay. Definitely not same consistently, I had same meal, it's was so so dry and just a 360 compared to my experience 2 weeks ago in north wall quay, that was excellent. I suggested this brand/establishment to my group , so very very disappointed. Cocktails were fired together, yet and a 360 from the presentation of north wall quay experience. It's definitely a busy spot and you can see it's literally in , eat and out with foot fall that passed through during our time there.

    Found the food very average chicken wings where nice just nice cause I’ve had better, the nachos where disgusting and would not recommend, my partner had the cheese burger and chips the oil on the plate from the chips and the burger was bland and tasteless…. The staff where extremely nice and friendly and couldn’t help enough it’s the only reason I gave a higher rating because of the staff not the food

    After 25 years of visiting E&C this was the worst experience made worse by the fact that we brought American friends there in our recommendation Wings which they are famous for were fine but totally lacking in Buffalo sauce ! Has E&C changed ownership ???

    Great food and service Specials menu had a good choice of food and cocktails Perfect location Definately don't need to eat much in the day if you are going here for dinner, very big portions so while it's a bit pricey for some items it is worth it

    Table was booked for 8.30 and we didn’t get seated until 8.50. Just left standing there until table was ready then they did apologise and gave us a booth by the window. The food is nice, wings have dipped in flavour since they were bought out and everyone took their recipe .they are still nice though and for temple bar the prices aren’t too bad. It’s not cheap but not overpriced like most places in temple bar. I would go again! I would maybe ask for more sauce next time on the wings
