Ella & Ollie's
We have dined often at Ella and Ollie’s and rarely had a disappointing meal. This was one of those rare times. We opted for the prime rib special for two. It came with smoked prime rib, “loaded” baked potatoes and asparagus. Initially, it was brought to us as a huge chunk of meat with two baked potatoes on top. Cheese, chives and sour cream were brought separately. We immediately asked it be taken back to the kitchen to be cut into reasonable sizes. That took awhile. By the time it was brought back everything was cold so the cheese didn’t melt on the potatoes. The meat was tasty but very tough. I will go back to the shrimp cakes next time.
Incredibly good food! Will definitely return! A little on the pricey side.
Would give this place more stars but they were not willing to swap out sides. My friend wanted the tuna with the sides from the scallops but they wouldn’t budge. I mean how hard is it to do that - maybe I’m missing something!
Absolutely Terrible experience! My party of four couldn’t get waited on. We checked with the maitre d three times in attempt to get a waiter. After third attempt, he got us a round of cocktails on the house and an apologetic waiter who took our dinner order. One hour and twenty eight minutes later we walked out.
Fabulous food and awesome environment! We will definitely be back!!
We visited this restaurant because the place we were staying recommended visiting. We were both very disappointed. The food was average at best and the service was even worse. We asked about a wine on the winelist. They had Stag's Leap listed on the menu. Since there are several Stag's Leap Cabernets, we asked if it the Fay or Artemis. The waitress had no idea. We asked to see the bottle. The wine was actually Stags' Leap. If you drink Napa wines you will know there is a big difference in the two wineries. Since this was not the wine we liked we each ordered a glass of wine. My husband ordered the Cabernet and I ordered the Shiraz. The wines we were served were exactly the same, the Shiraz. My husband ordered the local shrimp, it was extremely overcooked and rubbery. We were very disappointed by the entire evening. FYI, they will ask you if you would like bread for the table, please be aware this will show up as an additional charge on your bill.
Their swordfish special was excellent. Went twice this week.
From the Host, Service, to the Food. All was Fantastic.
As always, our meal at Ella and Ollie's was wonderful! We make it a point to have dinner at least once every time we spend time in Edisto
All 4 dinners were delicious. Service was wonderful.
Paula waited on us. She was fabulous. Food was outstanding as always. They do a great job!
As always, a wonderful dining experience! A little busier than normal for Valentine’s Day, but the servers were accommodating and the food was worth the wait!
Exceptional dining experience. Never disappointed. First-class operation.
Mediocre food that is overpriced. Surely Wyndham is subsidizing this place because there must be no incentive to make it better. I do acknowledge the challenges that must exist trying to create a good dining experience so far off the beaten path (which is part of the charm of Edisto). Wait staff did ok job with what they had to work with.
The taco cafe associated with the restaurant serves lunch and is a much better experience.
Great food and service, as usual. We always enjoy dining here.
The food was incredible and very reasonably priced. The service was outstanding. We will definitely go back to Ella and Ollie’s.
The food was just ok at best. Nothing special for the money. The service and folks were very nice. But as the food you would be better off finding another place.
Fab as usual! Gotta love it.
Food was excellent but felt like they were understaffed. We were seated in an alcove with another party of six at relatively small tables that resulted in being cramped and hard to communicate over the other table. If they had seated us elsewhere it would have been a great meal all around. Will certainly return as the food was excellent and James was knowledgeable, courteous, but spread thin.
New Year’s Eve dining. Needed more servers for the number of tables. Server, Anna, was attentive and excellent. In fact, she is why this restaurant did not receive a lower rating. Food was, at best, over-rated, and not worth a return visit. The polenta was a paste, the she crab soup had a gritty texture, and a bad, sour taste. In fact, I wonder if the dairy for it had turned?
Overall, I do not recommend this restaurant for any occasion.
Good food A bit pricey but worth it for special occasions. Good service. Food presentation is excellent Will eat there at least once while we are in the area.
This place is outstanding. I come here with my parents every chance we get. The atmosphere is really nice- Cozy yet sophisticated , you could come here for any occasion. I honestly haven’t tried any dish I didn’t like. I really like ordering whatever they have on special but my favorite items on the menu are the shrimp cakes, fried green tomatoes, and Crème brûlée. They have a great wine selection and as far as food goes you get a lot of bang for your buck I always have left overs. The servers are very friendly and knowledgeable as well :)
Overall the experience was very good.
My wife really enjoyed the shrimp entree.
I love shrimp and grits so I would not rate the one I had so high? The grits were a bit lumpy and the soup was on the watery side. I would have preferred it being a bit warmer.
We will still return enjoy another meal.
E&O is consistently outstanding. Best food and best facilities on the beach.
The food was outstanding as always and only outdone by the service that James provided to us. We enjoy this restaurant very much and plan to visit every time we visit Edisto Island. Thank you very much!
Well-executed preparation . Top notch ingredients. Pretty broad menu for a small( ish) place. It’s casual in atmosphere ( two tv screens ) , wood table tops, and rock classics in the background. The food and presentation is somewhat counterpoint to the surroundings. We all liked that. We were comfortable and delighted. Paula , our server, made a huge difference too: Helpful, knowledgable, and appropriately attentive. She crab soup, carpaccio , scallops w acorn squash , lobster/shrimp in saffron cream . In all, a very good meal and experience.
We had a great meal with a very attentive staff. My husband has a service dog and they couldn’t of been more welcoming. I had the shrimp and lobster paperadelle/ outstanding. Husband had NY strip, cooked perfectly and also delicious. Desert did not fail either. Peanut butter pie and birthday cake ice cream were a great finish. Pretty restaurant I would recommend for a special dinner or just an upscale meal. There are no restaurants like this in Edisto beach! Also had the tacos for lunch one day/ so good!
Table for four with 2 apps, 4 different entrees, and 4 different desserts. All were very good, good portion size and nice presentation. We will return next time we're at Edisto.
As a former owner of a restaurant and golf resort within Wyndham, keep up the great work. No need to offer discounts on golf to owners as you are the only game in town and a nice layout. The restaurant is great and should continue to issue certificates. I would suggest running food to front check-in staff so they push you more. I would also look at carrying a private label wine with your name and Wyndham's. You can leverage a free bottle with dinner...We did it was great success. Food was very good and nice seating areas.
Great place. Consistently wonderful food.
Our first visit to Edisto and restaurant was recommended to us by a full time resident of the island. We were so happy we took her advice and visited this restaurant. The food and service were both outstanding. Will visit again if we’re ever back in the neighborhood.
E&O is consistently great-from the service to the food, they are outstanding! Good for a special occasion or just a simple dinner out. Recommend 10/10
What can I say, the food, and staff is excellent. A great place for a date night with your best friend.
Everything foodwise was wonderful! It was just a bit loud....hard to have conversation with people at your own table. That was our only complaint. Wait staff was excellent!
Peanut Butter Pie was awesome to finish off my meal. She crab soup was awesome and so was my shrimp and grits
It was completely delish best restaurant meal I have ever had everything was perfectly cooked and flavored even the wine and martini s were great definitely worth the money will be going back soon.
This was our first visit to the Island & we had a wonderful time. Should have eaten at E&I’s more than once!
Great food. Good service.
great food and service but really noisy. need ear plugs
Awesome in every way except for noise level! I like to be able to have conversation with everyone at my table of five which is hard when it is very noisy.
