Epicurean Cafe

This was a NYE dinner with reservations. We were greeted by a super nice hostess in the front who offered to take photos for us. Upon seating, we waited 1-1/4 hrs for an appetizer that consisted of dips. After waiting 2 hours for our food, it was all mixed up. Many items were sent back for preparing the order wrong, and returned with missing items. My daughter ordered a market price ($41) 14-15oz ribeye that was pure blubber. We were told this was typical of ribeyes, but in my experience this was the lowest grade steak they could find and should not be charging prime prices you’d find at a steak restaurants with choice cuts of meats. They returned with a New York strip. The owner did offer us a crab cake at one point, which was delicious and we appreciated the gesture, but for 5 people it was hardly a compensation. My mother’s salad came out wrong and they never brought her back another one. They told us they took a salad off the bill...I would hope so-they never gave it to her! We did receive 25% off our bill after asking for some sort of effort to make it right, which we appreciate, but we did have to ask. We were disappointed for choosing this place and hope they will work out their kinks bc it has truly has potential.

The food was fabulous. The service was not the best I had to ask for water four times. Other than that everything was great.

I ordered the beet salad and what a mistake. The chef actually infused the beets with cloves, which is a no-no! I asked the server to substitute the goat cheese for feta, and was told that "chef" was doing to lose his mind if a customer asks for such a replacement. What a joke! Listen here, Epicurean: NEVER, EVER DISPLAY SUCH RUDE BEHVIOR TOWARDS YOUR CUSTOMERS, THEY PAY YOUR SALARY!
IT'S ALSO COVID, SO, START UTILIZING GOOD BUSINESS SKILLS AND ENSURE YOU CATER TO YOUR CUSTOERS, PERIOD!
Ordered the special of the day along with the port chop plate, both were highly disappointing. The pork chop costs $30 and was of the poorest quality cut of meat I've ever had, I'm still flabbergasted at how they can charge 30 bucks for the nastiest piece of meat AND then serve it to customers. The chop was covered in sodium, could not eat it, gave it to the dogs. The short rib was ok and the demi-glaze was straight from a can. The demi-glaze on the short rib was used on the pork chop, too! I can't make this up. Also, there were cockroaches all over the patio, not good. If they are on the patio in big numbers, then they are definitely in the kitchen.
The server was extremely inefficient and there were only 3 tables in the entire restaurant.

Never going back.

Epicurean Cafe is the best culinary discovery we have made since moving to the area. The serive is amazing and the food spectacular!

Appetizers very average, entree generous and delicious - both entrees: shrimp tacos and a salmon salad

Great spot!!! The trademark of a great chef is the ability to deliver great food with just the right seasoning...the chef knocked it out the park. Will be back.

Epicurean is always one of our favorite places to go for a special dinner. The food and service are always excellent!

Love our dinner! Amanda took great care of us. The ambiance needs some help - lighting, art, music - simple fixes. Overall we loved it!

The food took forever as I thought I was going to pass out as it took atleast 45-hour after we ordered. The server was busy.

Food was excellent--better than anticipated. Our server was very pleasant and helpful. Prices are reasonable--portions not overwhelming. Only criticism is directed at condition of facility. I realize it's a historic building but it should not be shabby. As we were led to our upstairs table, the carpet on the stairs was very worn and discolored. Same in our dining room. There were also unpainted spots on the walls where items had been previously removed. It leaves the impression that if management does not care about appearances, do they care about food and service? They obviously do, as our meal was tasty. and service was good. However, first impressions do count...

Outstanding evening of fine dining.

The food was delicious and Todd was excellent. The kitchen was very behind and slow though. You could tell everyone was anxious about the food taking so long. I would definitely go back and give it another try. I’m okay with things taking a bit longer but an hour and 40 minutes is a bit too long for my liking.

I had the short rib with mixed vegetables and garlic potatoes. Everything was cooked to perfection, not too much salt or other seasoning, but salt and pepper were available on the table. Service was attentive , but not overbearing Overall, a perfect dining experience!

High expectations for a romantic Valentines Day night out were not met. Not sure if it was the chef who couldn’t keep up or just bad wait service. We were there for over 2 hours and got very tired of sitting and watching the staff hectically running around not knowing the table numbers, dropping plates, running into each other. It was sad and unbelievable.

Great food but a bit overpriced because of Valentine’s Day. We’d love to try again when it’s not so crowded and not a fixed menu. It was a bit pricey for what it was, but would like to try it during a normal day.

We were very "underwhelmed" by our experience on Valentine's Day.
When we arrived, the staff seemed frazzled... even early in the evening, before they got busy. Our server was excellent, but it took over 30 minutes to get our salad (prix fixe menu). We had to inquire about it to jump start them, it seemed. There were also some inconsistencies between the menu description and the dinners they served - as if they'd messed up their shopping list and made some last minute substitutions. (Not a big deal, just another indicator of their disorganization?)
The historic house was cool, but the ambiance was not great, with an extremely loud and annoying couple over our shoulder. Can't blame the restaurant for this, of course, but it really highlighted how there was nothing in the furnishings to help control the noise, even in normal circumstances.
The real issue is that their food and drink just were not memorable in any way. Their "signature drinks" were not worth the cost, and the tomato broth really looked and tasted like Campbell's tomato soup. We agreed afterwards that the best parts of the meal were the rolls/butter and the dessert. However, even the beignets were too brown and seemed on the verge of shouldn't having been served.
Bottom line - we felt like we could have done better ourselves at home.

Had Valentines day dinner with my girlfriend, food was delicious.

The food is good and reasonably priced. The service however is ridiculously slow. We went for lunch and while the restaurant was far from busy and still we waited over 40 mins for our food to arrive- soup, sandwiches and salad. Only go if you have time to spare.

Always a warm welcome from the staff. We had amazing table service which was followed by two of thei Halibut specials, my personal favorite Pork Chop and the yummy lamb chops. It was a great meal that matched the conversation with good friends.

Amanda and everyone was amazing. Only recommendation would be to augment ty hrir wine list with some higher-end bottles.

Great food...great service!

We had our wedding reception at this place before the management changes. We went back this week for my husband birthday dinner. The food was very good and tasty. Yes I would recommend this place to others.

Always a great meal! Service is wonderful but food can be slow to come out from the kitchen so order the delicious appetizers and sit back for a nice meal.

Absolute great service, the food was excellent but the room was cold. Many customers wore jackets while eating food. I would have given it 5 stars if it wasn't for the very chilly room. A heater in the first dining area would have been ideal.

Very nice food and ambiance as it’s an old historic home converted into a restaurant. Gluten free options are noted on the menu.

The service was very poor and slow, the only thing they did quickly was to pass the bill. We asked for additional bread and they didn't pass us, we made the complaint and they gave us the bread, not before reminding them that they charged us. We didn't care about the price, just to give us bread. The bathroom door would not close. We will never return to this place.

It's so nice to go out to dinner with friends and actually be able to have a conversation without shouting! This restaurant has a number of small rooms since it is an old house, and it is very quaint and quiet. I will definitely return!

Our bus boy (John Wright) was the smoothest bus boy I have seen in my life. He deserves a raise for being such an awesome guy. The steak was a little too fatty and not as warm as we hoped. However, the flavor was very exquisite and delightful to the tongue. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience!

wonderful food, excellent service, quiet and I took fabulous company with me so what's not to LOVE!

The food and atmosphere were wonderful. My wife had the Salmon, and I had the seasonal salad with chicken. Both were delicious. We'll be back to try more of the menu sometime soon.
