I wanted to take my wife somewhere nice and low-key for her 38th birthday. I mentioned this to a coworker and she suggest Et Voila' Bistro. I immediately made my reservation and this place is everything that I expected and more. The ambiance is beautiful and quiet. You feel like you are in Paris, France. The service is fast and the food is great. I enjoyed everything about my visit. I will certainly return and will definitely refer my friends!
My partner wanted to try this French restaurant. Glad we went! The owner goes to every occupied table to check-in and visit. Staff are great! The food was marvelous. Formidable!
Excellent Mussels and a reasonably priced tasty glass of champagne made for a very enjoyable brunch at this Normal Heights storefront bistro.
My wife’s steak frites was good but the sauce was not as special as the broth for the Mussels. Unfortunately the pomme frites were not up to the quality of the Mussels or flat iron steak
The chocolate Mousse was terrific as was the salted Caramel tart
Worth the travel there
Et Voilà is as close to French authenticity in San Diego you'll find. They prepare Croque Monsieur or Madame, les moules, les escargots, les tapenades and chocolate deserts that are wonderful. I am very rarely disappointed. It's French, authentic and consistent.
The food is consistently fantastic... I love the menu as well as the quality of preparation. I prefer service at the bar, at which the personnel are always friendly and attentive.
Always a pleasure to eat at EV. The Tuesday Nigth Date Night is a great deal and offers a good mix of our favorites. Highly Recommend you give it a try.
2nd visit. Nice place
As always, dining at Et Voila was lovely - from walking into the elegant space to the beautifully crafted food to the friendliness of the staff. Hands down one if the best dining experiences in San Diego.
We went here for a date after an alternative music MeetUp nearby. Food and ambience was awesome!
Thank you John for your great review!
Most of the food came out cool vs hot or at least warm, and for $250 dollar dinner for 4 theirs lots of better choices in SD county

This place never disappoints. The dark chocolate mousse is stunning.
Thank you Keith! We greatly appreciate your review.
Very overrated, so so overall, disappointed, but may give it a 2nd try.
Thank you Kenny for your review. We are sorry you didn't enjoy your time with us. We would love to know more about your experience feel free to reach out to us so we can fix it. Ludo@etvoilabistro.co We are looking forward to your second visit.
A very busy evening, perhaps too busy for the kitchen to live up to its stellar reputation. But the service was superb, as always.
Get the duck and get the mushroom ravioli, those dishes are fire.
This was our second visit to Et Voila, and we were as pleased as the first time. We arrived early having come from a matinee at The Old Globe and were warmly greeted and seated promptly. As it was on a Wednesday, it was Wine Night with 30% off any bottle under $100. We chose a merlot from Bordeaux and were very happy with our selection. We shared the beet salad with frisee and arugula and two interesting sauces. A hot section of baguette was served as an accompaniment. I chose the duck as it is rarely seen on menus in SoCal; it came with a yummy side Napoleon made of potatoes and vegetable. My husband had the scallops. They were HUGE! The food was served promptly and was hot, and the service was friendly without being intrusive. We ordered the Grand Marnier souffle at the beginning of the meal as it takes time to prepare, and we were very glad we did. Light and fluffy with a rich creme anglaise. Espresso and coffee rounded out the meal. Though not inexpensive, this bistro truly feels like a trip to France without the airfare. We will definitely return.
Fantastic restaurant on all fronts. Delicious plates with rich flavors and a changing menu. The wine selection and cocktails are also exceptional. And don't get me started about their bread and souffles! The service is also attentive and all the employees kind, including the owner.
Great for a special occasion. We came here for a birthday and the place was decked out in a fabulous Halloween theme. The food is delicious!!
Food was delicious. A little over priced for the amount that you get though.
We had the most lovely evening and date night! Our server, Lydia, was incredibly knowledgeable on the food and wine and provided excellent recommendations for pairings. The atmosphere was lively but not loud. We will definitely be back!
Thank you for your review. We are looking forward to seeing you again soon.
Very nice menu, extremely attentive and courteous service (thank you Sarah), with even a small error in order being immediately attended to and addressed beyond expectations. Went pre-theater, and our first visit here became part of a wonderful evening.
I thoroughly enjoyed the scallops entree, wine pairings and dessert during SDRW dinner and look forward to returning to try more of the menu,
We had a less than favorable experience at Et Voila last night.
It was VERY noisy, to the point it was nearly impossible to carry on a conversation.
The food was terrible. I had the Veal Short ribs, and they were very fatty, and what little meat they had was tough. I left 3/4 of it.
Overall, a disappointment.
Thank you for your review. We are sorry you found the restaurant noisy. It is an unusual complaint for us. That being said it was a very successful Saturday during restaurant week with as you noticed customers wall to wall. You probably will enjoy us during the week with a quieter atmosphere. We apologize you didn't enjoy one of the 3 courses you ordered. Don't be shy and lets us know when we check on you so we can fix it and see you leave happy. Thank you for the great rating on our service.
Very good French restaurant in the heart of San Diego. Tasty food plus very good French bread( the real deal)
The Restaurant Week menu was exceptional.
Service is always attentive without being intrusive.
The owner provides excellent “supervision.”
C’est une bonne table!
My husband and I dined during restaurant week. We chose the wine pairings with our meal. We each had the brussel sprout and the smoke salmon appetizer. Delicious! For our main course, we chose pan seared scallops and grilled wagyu sirloin - each bite was better than the next and we finished it off with the blueberry tart - so yummy! I rated the experience with a 4 vs. a 5 because the wine pairings were a disappointment - there was no explanation of what the wines were/where they came from and how they were chosen to go with the meal. Our server just set the glasses down and that was it. I would expect more from a french restaurant and hope that this could change in the future.
Otherwise, we had a lovely dining experience and will definitely be back!
There were a few bites that hit flavorful notes but the rest was bland and was left hungry even after eating a 3 course meal.
Thank you Tortuga for your review. We are glad you enjoyed our service and ambiance as per your rating. We are sorry that only few bites of our restaurant week menu impressed you. We wish you had said something while you were here, as we could have gone above and beyond to make sure you had the same amazing experience as all our other customers. You would have left more than satisfied and sated with our flavorful menu. We look forward to impress you during your next visit.
always great, never disappointed. chef very friendly as are his staff. food is always done well and presented well. have no concerns recommending et voila.
The food was great and the service was outstanding!
Thank you Arthur!
If you want a true French ambiance, service and food this is your place
the food here is seriously good. We had pescatarians, meat eaters, a vegetarian and someone who wasn't very hungry, ages ranging from 12 to 80, and we all found dishes that suited us perfectly. The desserts were amazing (and huge). It's not cheap but we all felt it was well worth the expense
Definitely! A great place to go for date night or if you enjoy tasty, french food! I love the mussels with chorizo, but you can definitely hook me with the souffles. We ate the dulce de leche and I just regret having ordered only one. Looking forward to restaurant week to go again!
This is a neighborhood gem - the service is hospitable and professional, everything we've eaten there has been wonderful and their signature cocktails are delicious! Et Voila is great for groups, too.
We were very pleased with our dinner, the quality and presentation of our salads and entrees was something to behold. The service was friendly and attentive. We look forward to taking our family and friends to Et Voila.
Kudos to the entire staff.
Wonderful waitress, friendly owner, delicious food, all at the same time.
Excellent fast service and outstanding dinner!!! The food was beautifully prepared, perfectly balanced seasoning and every dish was delicious! Will be back.
Thank you Lynn!
This the best French restaurant in San Diego County. I had the Dover sole. It was superb. The Sancerre was so smooth and brisk. Everything this place serves is exquisitely good.
Thank you John!
Matches what a French bistro menu and environment should be. Food very good prices fair service efficient and friendly. Great for conversation has a neighborhood feel.
Thank you Edward. We are happy you enjoyed your dinner with us.
Wonderful place for a date night. Food was amazing.
They have a great happy hour and Wine Wednesday means bottles are 30% off. You can get deals for Happy hour in the bar.
On Tuesday they have a Date Night prix fixe menu that’s a great deal and includes a bottle of wine. We have a fun meal with great service!
Thank you Mark!
