All Day Rosé on Wednesdays!
Both the food, service and ambience were excellent. The preparation and presentation were quite special for a lunch. I hope the experience remains the same when things get back to normal and there are more diners. I hope to get back soon.
Food is fantastic!!!
Started with the half dozen oysters. Followed by the Shrimp Étoufée for my sister and the Jumbo Shrimp & Grits for me. Accompanied by the charred broccolini and tap water. $125 before tip.
Oysters are oysters I’m not experienced enough to comment on the taste but I did see the guy at the bar shucking them right after the order was placed. They come with horseradish, cocktail sauce and some other red oil like thing which I don’t remember anymore.
The charred broccolini was absolutely amazing and generous enough for 2. It is thankfully not drowned in creamy sauce, only placed at the ends of the plate. Also generous amount of shaved/shredded cheese on top with a nutty taste to it. I think a good indicator of a quality restaurant, at any price point, is their vegetables. This one definitely passed with flying colors.
The shrimp étoufée was my sister’s plate. It had both breaded and non breaded shrimp which was great for texture. The noodles were handmade and tasted good from the small bite I stole.
The jumbo shrimp & grits was my plate. Grits were well done. I may have wanted them a bit thicker but still good texture to them. Also there were 5-6 jumbo shrimp. I was shocked. Obviously playing is meant to be nice and show off the shrimp but under one of the display shrimp was another shrimp buried in the grits. I am a bigger guy and was full despite sharing the oysters and broccolini so come with an appetite. I also wish it was a bit spicier/heavier on the seasoning but it’s understandable to cook for a wider array of guests.
As for COVID changes. It was my first time however the tables were already decently spaced out with open concept style layout. Along with the spacing, there was always at least 1 table between us and the next guests. All staff is wearing a face mask and all guests are required to wear one when not eating.
I will be returning for my birthday.
Hubby and I went here for our anniversary for the first time and we were not disappointed! The roasted hearth oysters were delicious filled with lots of seafood. The Dan dan shrimp had some of the most interesting flavors and was a favorite of mine. We both got the gumbo, the chicken in it was smoked with okra and a medium roux....really good. Hubby got Etouffee...it was really different than the usual since the shrimp was fried and noodles replaced the rice. None the less, it was outstanding! The crowning dish of the meal was the bread pudding...it was moist topped with a rich sauce, sugar crusted pecans, and praline ice cream. Needless to say I wasn’t hungry the rest of the day. Some of the best I have ever had, and I have lived in New Orleans and have had the best!
Our first round of oysters were chewy, and our drinks (mimosas) took a while to get to the table. Our waitress was lovely and great COVID-19 restrictions. Good ambiance.
Super great service, even better food!
Outstanding establishment! The food was amazing, and the service was wonderful.
From start to finish everything was excellent! Eunice is a favorite and I dine-in often.
Great Bar, excellent food in a very cool space. We celebrate special occasions and entertain business clients in from out of town looking for a taste of the South and they are never disappointed!
Highly recommend! Come early to have a cocktail at the bar!
Justin is the GM, let him know if you have any special requests to impress a client.
Need to try the yellow fin tuna
The best food. The best service. The best everything. :)
The food was superior! We had the Cajun Duck poppers, chicken liver mousse, Gulf Red Fish & Steak Frites. Treat yourself!
The food was simple and excellent. I had the butter lettuce with roasted chicken adn it was just marvelous. The boiled shrimp appetizer was also very good, though for 21 bucks perhaps a little ordinary. Best of all they took the social distancing precautions very seriously.
Excellent upscale Louisiana cuisine, brimming with creativity, fresh seasonal farm to table ingredients and some of the best seafood in Houston. Chic beautiful decor, friendly staff and fabulous diners.
Food had great flavor! Enjoyed the gumbo very much!
