    We attended the All that Glitters event to ring in 2026 - what a huge disappointment - while the ambiance and service were good, the five course meal was absolutely horrible. We certainly would have expected much more from Mission Inn where we have visited and dined in the past. Here is a break-down: 1st course - shrimp cocktail Shrimp was room temp, with this the texture was off. The sauce tasted good, it was smeared on the plate for presentation, not enough to dip and enjoy which would have helped. 2nd course - lobster bisque This was the best course although the soup was mediocre, the bread bowl was fresh and good - had to request butter to enjoy it. 3rd course - quail Whoa - this was bad, we didnt touch it - sent ours back - have never seen a presentation of quail like this, the bones where sticking out in a weird way and the meat looked dried out. We saw several if these going back to the kitchen. 4th course - beef wellington This was by far the worst course. The puffed pastry looked good but upon cutting into it, the beef was like a baseball, completely overcooked hard with black bits coming out of one side - we didn’t know if this was burnt mushrooms or bacon. The beef was wrapped in prosciutto or bacon that was not edible either. Needless to say, one bite of mine was all that was needed and my partner didn’t even try it 5th course - dessert Nothing gourmet- typical slacked item that we could at least get through a couple of bites. Overall, this was a huge disappointment, especially after paying $200 PP - I do not recommend this event until they can completely revamp and focus on bringing forward a true gourmet meal.

    Paying $200 at the Mission Inn I expected the food to be the best. Instead it was not good at all. That was the biggest let down. The food didn’t taste fresh, presentations basic. The appetizer tasted frozen would have been good if made fresh. The beef was hard and potato square tastes old. It seems budgeting was more important than serving quality food.

    The Mission Inn New Years Eve Gala was a disappointment. I expected better from this venerable and historic institution. The orange and black ballons at mid-night were left over from Halloween. The quail (yuk) served as one of the meal courses reminded me of Monika on Friends with the raw turkey on her head. The worst part was the music after dinner. It was loud, hard driving Puerto Rican techno aimed at the smaller group of younger people that like that kind of music. The more mature larger group, many in formal wear, were left at their tables sitting on their thumbs. My wife and I left before mid-night to join the better party at the bar on the other side of the Mission Inn lobby.

    We attended the Mission Inn New Year’s Eve Ballroom party and overall had a really fun night, but there are some important things people should know given the price point. Tickets were around $200 per person, which did not include an open bar. At that price, I honestly expected at least basic open bar service. The event did include a five-course meal, which ended up being the biggest disappointment of the night. The party itself was great. The DJ had excellent energy, the music kept people dancing all night, and the crowd vibe was fun and upbeat. The balloon drop at midnight was fabulous — even though part of it hilariously got stuck and guests ended up pulling balloons down from the ceiling themselves. It actually added to the fun and made for a memorable moment. Unfortunately, the food was really bad! The beef Wellington (the only main course option) tasted like the meat was rancid and was genuinely unpleasant. The couple sitting next to us didn’t eat any of the five courses, and I personally felt sick shortly after eating. For an event that heavily advertises a five-course dining experience, this was extremely disappointing. I really hope they reconsider the menu in the future and offer main course choices (beef, chicken, or fish). Giving guests options would go a long way, especially at this price point. That said, we still enjoyed ourselves overall and would return if the food situation were significantly improved. The entertainment, music, and atmosphere were absolutely there, the dining experience just didn’t match the rest of the event.

    The Inn was beautifully decorated, but the food was disappointing. Famous recipes were very poorly prepared, flavorless. They were pale imitations of the dish. Even the dessert was gummy and not tasty. We noticed that not just us, but other people around us didn't eat the food. Overall, it was a waste of money. We would NOT recommend to spend the New Year's Eve at this place.

    Once we were seated, no server showed up to take our drink order. We ended up going to the bar ourselves after 30 mins waiting on the table. There was only 1 bartender tending line of people which we wasted another 30 minutes in line. The 5 course food menu didn't have the vegetarian option and no prior food selection options were offered. One of my friends ended up not eating a set menu. The music played was also not a good range of selections either. Top 40 like music might have been better for the general audiences. Anyways, I don't think we'll be attending this event again.

    New Year’s Eve at the Mission Inn was a huge disappointment, and the food completely ruined the night. The beef Wellington was burned on the inside, and despite bringing it to the staff’s attention, nothing was done to address it. No replacement, no acknowledgment beyond basic apologies. The quail was dry, flavorless, and poorly prepared. For an event at this price point and reputation, this was unacceptable. Worst meal I’ve had at a “special event.” The food was easily the worst part of the night.

    Have had Christmas brunch here many times. Started downhill during covid. After a few years to give them a chance to adjust we tried again. From the service, the ambience, and the food (selection, quality and access) and excessive price, the Mission Inn brunch has hit an all time low in our experience. Never again!
