Farmer's Table - La Mesa
A disappointing visit, more so because our first time last year had been so wonderful. The seared ahi was well done, the pork chop dried out and our server could have cared less.
We arrived on time to our reservation time but we were made to wait 20 mins. We told receptionist we would wait outside because we were getting in the way of waiters. When I went up to receptionist if our table was finally ready she didn’t know who I was and then proceeded to tell us they had called us. When I reminded her I had told her she offered an excuse but no apology.
The waitress service was mediocre. She seemed to be in a rush every time she came up to our table. She was not
This is my fifth time at a Farmers Table (Little Italy and La Mesa) and have always had a great experience.
Very crowded and loud. Good service was good but the waiter was slow and didn’t check back with us during the meal. We had to ask for water refills several times.
It’s a nice restaurant but very slow. We had reservations at 7pm on a Friday night and didn’t get seated until 7:40pm. Once we sat down, we didn’t get our orders taken until 8pm, so it was very slow. Food was good but way over priced.
1st time the food has been this bad. Everyone has an off night but our bread arrived completely burnt (every piece), most of the meals were flavorless and no one finished because it just wasn’t good. Chalk it up to the cook having a bad night.
It was wonderful. Service was great and so was the food!
New Years Day brunch! Wait staff was attentive and we were seated right away with our reservation. Everyone’s food was yummy, mine was a little cold but mimosas were good, (mostly all champagne 😉)
Overall nice way to start the new year.
First time our breakfast wasn't served hot. They were really busy
Early New Year’s Eve dinner
I love this restaurant! The margherita pizza is the best and when I have brought friends they liked what they ordered, too!
What a fun restaurant that also happens to serve great food! Terrific for a special holiday lunch with my friend. Great service too. So glad it's in the neighborhood.
I keep giving Farmer's Table a try but always end up a little disappointed. The food is ok, the service is ok. This time around the kitchen did not get my order exactly right. I think you just need to have lower expectations when you go here.
Love the food and atmosphere here! A regular spot for brunch!
We’ve been there multiple times. The service was just fair this time. Weird too because it was early in the evening and the restaurant was that busy. Celebrated a
Birthday and it was just ok.
We had a couple of issues with the food. The French fries showed up very greasy, soggy, dark colored and warn. Not hot. We sent them back for a fresh batch because we thought they must have sit in kitchen too long. Wrong. New batch was hotter but still greasy, not crisp and dark. How can a well run kitchen do fries so poorly? Next disappointment came when I asked for a side of avocado for my burger. A very small portion, maybe 1/4 os a tiny avocado was $3.50 on my bill. I would have appreciated the waitress mentioning $ when I asked. I would have passed. The service was good with a great menu.
Love Farmers Table, we come here for Sunday brunch and anniversary dinners. Great vibe, even better service
We went on Christmas Eve at 8:30 p.m., and the restaurant closed at 9:00 p.m. Everyone was absolutely friendly and did not make us feel like we had to rush. Food was really good as always, and they even offered us dessert! I highly recommend Farmer's Table for anyone who was a casual, homey atmosphere with terrific food and excellent service.
Great food and amazing ambiance
Bryant was an excellent server who was friendly, knowledgeable, and very attentive. Service was excellent!
Our server was good, sufficient attentiveness. Gave us options to order. Getting beverages was the slower. Until 20-30 minutes before we left the noise level makes it very difficult to hear.
Food was very good and presentation was the same. We had not been to Farmers Table in some time, we were not disappointed.
We have eaten at both the La Mesa location and the Little Italy location. Most of our family enjoys it. My husband prefers the breakfast and lunch menu. We have had some minor service issues at the La Mesa location, but generally pretty good. Noise can be a problem, but we had a quieter table at the last visit.
Roast chicken was dry and over cooked, Brussels sprouts and potatoes under cooked and hard, spouts lacked usual flavor (no balsamic?).Sprouts and potatoes were few, and no purple potatoes. We had this same meal about two weeks ago, and it was the best we have ever had here. The only thing wonderful were the white sangrias. Needless to say, it was a pricey meal gone bad. Won’t be back for a while, very disappointing and a waste of money.
Ivan was a fantastic server!
This is a very good restaurant but it is very loud. We were served promptly and the staff was quite friendly and relaxed. The food was great.
We had a great dinner! Didier provided excellent service. The spouse had carbonara, my daughter had prosciutto flatbread both times have been wonderful.
We had great Thanksgiving dinner. Food is pretty good! Maybe we will come back any special date and 2020 Thanksgiving day too.
Food was cold. Turkey platter was inconsistent, dad got corn with his and I got stuffing?? They forgot the kids meals and kids food arrived super late once it was finally prepared. (Burgers. Lol).
Layout/ floor plan was confusing and disruptive. Drinks were way overpriced as was the food. The apple pie was really good. It was dads bday. I had asked the restaurant to acknowledge and maybe say something to him but nothing. This restaurant came recommended. Maybe it was a fluke as it was a holiday menu.
It was an embarrassing experience as I was treating dad. He was full of complaints. It ruined our first Thanksgiving without mom.
:( Sickening. Just an overall Depressing experience.
I left a really good tip as it was Thanksgiving. Hopefully the restaurant will pay attention to details or lower their exorbitant pricing.
If you’re going to charge as though you are high-end...then provide some higher-end service.
That is all.
Amazing welcoming environment. Front desk was a bit baffled when we walked in from the rain. No greeting just a blank stair for a min until we said we had a reservation. But table was right by open kitchen, loved that. Food was served quickly, absolutely rich and delicious. Only complaint is that the bread for the bruschetta was soggy had to use a for and knife. But taste was great. Definitely coming back. Loved the truffle fries and zucchini blossoms. Great drink selection and attentive staff even for a busy night.
It’s good not great, definitely need improvement on service, our server was a tad on the grouchy side.
Food and service excellent. The roast chicken was superb, liked the side of Brussels sprouts. The white sangria was delicious and refreshing with the chicken. Craving more of it. Venue a bit noisy and food a bit pricey, but worth it for a special occasion.
They lost my trust when they served my cocktail in a small glass when the next round arrived in a much larger glass... with more liquor...
Prior visits I was unsure on the liquor served as it tasted differently than the bottle I have at home...don’t trust them
AND they hadn’t heard about the recall on romaine lettuce... only stopping serving the salad after we inquired on the location where the romaine was grown...
Food is good...large portions
Great food. Selection is exceptional! Our server was exceptional. My friends birthday made it a special night.
There was a hair in our food and we took the dish back and then they made a new dish about 10 minutes later. 3 different people came to apologize for it, said ”we’ll take care of you” so we assumed they would comp the dish (as most restaurants would do) so when they didn't we asked why not and if they could. The response was ”we replaced the dish”. LAME! I'm sorry but that is the VERY least you can do. Farmers Table shocked me by that reply! Any restaurants will replace the dish... That's expected. They should have also comped the dish especially if the guests request that. The person who had to have her dish remade ate much later than the rest of us. Poor service management team today.
Loud, bland food...service just okay.
Always very good but can get loud!
Ordered the octopus and pork belly appetizers. Asked for them to be paced but they arrived at the same time. Octopus was very good and tender. Pork belly was overcooked and tough (not sure how you do that) and was Luke warm. Spinach salad was nice. Duck confit with gnocchi was tasteless. Wouldn’t rush back. Heard it was better for breakfast.
Pleasant outdoor table for a business lunch - food was very good and presented well !
The pork chop was good but the sauce was very over powering for me. My husband got the bison ribeye & loved it. The calamari appetizer was also very tasty.
This is the 2nd year we chose Farmer's Table for my birthday. The cioppino was delicious and I ate every drop with hunks of crusty bread. We could see tomatoes being roasted in the pizza oven and it gave the sauce a real depth of flavor. The "burnt" carrots were not really burnt but nicely roasted and still tender crisp, a lovely side dish. At 5:30 they were out of 3 of 4 selections of Chardonnay on the "Wine Wednesday" list and my only critique would be stock up more if you have it on your specials list. Lots of families, large parties, a popular place.
Second time at this restaurant since it’s a bit far from my home. The first time was a great experience. The second time, the food was good; however we felt rushed from the moment we sat down. We also felt as if the server wanted to be anywhere but where she was. She did not make us feel comfortable or appreciated. Undecided if I will go again.
